Should I prepare the quote for you? "The new Blade feels like a larger 93P." [emoji16][emoji16][emoji16]

I dont think it will. I think it will be a bit softer. Ill find out soon, but the P93 has some firmness to it.

I honestly have wanted a softer Blade for years. The feel being good enough to get VSB’s raves just is a big added bonus for me.

Being a 5/8 grip player I don’t like the fact that Wilson decided to only make grip sizes up through 1/2 available on the Blades. In fact the only recent Wilson frames I know that 5/8 are available are the RF97 and the Ultra Tour. Switched to a Gravity Pro recently and love it so far. It’s like a PT280 feel in a bigger head size.

Totally agree with this. They could make limited quantities.

Ok so I just grabbed mine.
In hand impressions are hope it hits better than it feels in hand (feels like they repainted previous blade ). Why not make it at least semi glossy like head and prince does I really don’t like this velvet crap.
I won’t be able to hit with it until Friday sadly. Or should I say frustratingly

Totally agree. I wish Wilson would end the damn, velvet "Federer Feel" crap!

I actually didn’t hate cv version as a racquet but velvety crap got to me and 93p which won me over the last year cv blade.
I guess I was secretly hoping they toned it down a notch but it’s virtually the same.

Last year I got my hopes up that they will release glossy version as special mid cycle version but instead we got velvet green and camo crap

Feels great in hand to me. I am comparing it to my PT280 as we speak and they are super close. I put RS Lyon in mine at 45#s. I never tried the last CV version, but this has a wonderful pocketing flex to it and it’s plusssh. The P93 does feel a bit firmer with less pocketing. I will get more details tonight, weather permitting.

Seems like the design team at Wilson is very monochromatic. They want there entire stable to look the same but with diff colors only on the same part of the racquet. No variety whatsoever within each line like in the past. I get that is brand awareness etc etc. but honestly as a consumer that is soooo. boring.

It’s kind of boring, yeah. But the new Blade still looks good. More importantly it plays like I have wanted a Blade to play for years. Hell, I had one of the Pink 2011 Blades just because they were dirt cheap for a while. I don’t mind a P/J if the frame is amazing.

I've played my best matches with an 18x20 blade.....It always stays in my bag, but I ignore it. I play with the RF97A, weighted K7 lime, and PT280. All heavy. All make me feel hopeless sometimes during match play, but feel so good to practice or hit with. When it comes match time, I'm not competitive. I think I'm going to need to get this blade and get some more firepower and maneuverability.

Do it man. I can tell you the feel is pretty similar to the PT280, but the Wilson has more free punch to it. It is easier to use. So you will get that classic, muted feel and epic control without being outgunned on the court.

Yes. It’s still a sharp frame. And maybe that extra point head light will allow players like myself achieve a 8-9 point balance without going over 12oz.

I got a PT 630 and it is not for players without amazing technique. It is not as forgiving with a much smaller sweet spot but if you hit that sweets pot, there is no other frame like it. But I am not good enough to swing that frame on a consistent basis.

The Blade offers more power and easier to swing than the Head PT 280/630 models.

i think you should be able to do that with 10-15gr putty in the buttcap (extreme setup), unless you are trying to achieve it through more distributed in the handle...that may be not be possible... I did the same for my gravity tour which is same unstrung weight and same (similar) unstrung balance... i put 10gr putty and pulled it to 7 pts... 15gr would pull it to 9ish... with ~340gr total weight (ie 12 oz). Including overgrip... and dampener..

The Blade in pretty impressive! I was shocked and pleasantly surprised. Hope this is a new trend other companies (HEAD are you listening?) will pick up on. Hopefully this is the end of the Babolatification of the industry.

Yeah I agree. Why Head did not release the Gravity Tour here I will never understand. The fact that the Blade plays at a lighter weight and still manages to feel quite close to the classics and not be anemic in power is so awesome. The one thing about the PT630 that makes it a legend to me (besides the feel) is how much control it provides while still bringing a good amount of power.

I really want to compare the CV 18x20 to the new blade.

I've been hitting with my 18x20 CV the last two weeks to get a better feel for it. It sat in my bag for a bit since I initally wasn't a fan. While still not what I would choose as my daily stick, I at least appreciate it more so when I do get the ne V7 18x20 this next week I can get a better feel between the 2015, CV and the V7 to see what works best for me.

I love the CV PJ a lot. That and the 2015 look so cool. I just never used them. Interested in your comparison there. What tension do you string at? Just curious since I am still learning this Blade. What I am finding out is I can probably go lower in tension that I first thought - like off the stringer at 46#s and the strings barely lose tension in this pattern.

I wonder if blade is so popular in US that they decided not to bother to even compete.

Crazy if so. It seems like more and more players have been leaning towards these types of specs over the past few years. No reason not to have that option if you are a Head player.

I've been on full bed poly for a while and I've tried down in the 40's up to 60 lbs. I stick around 52lbs on my sticks without arm issues or feeling like I am hitting with a fishing net. I know most poeple like poly in the 40's. Funny, I broke out my Burn 100S last night which is strung at 46lbs and I couldn't control it as well, but had hella big pop on the ball.

The CV has been interesting for me. It is still too head heavy stock and I tried weighting the handle, but the stick just got too heavy overall for my liking, especially for dubs and volley work. When I hit with the V7, it had similar heft as the CV, but better balance. I think like most I will still add a little to the handle to have it sit in the hand more.

Yeah I actually just tried head hawk touch at 49#s last night and it was a total fail. Really low powered string. I guess I am really used to controlling my shots with a lot of spin and 40-45#s seems to work really well in the Blade for me. That said, I have an Extreme MP, and I string that at 55#s. Wide open pattern, power tweener. I can still play with it at 45#s but it requires a ton of spin.

Are you saying the new Blade swings lighter than previous models? If so that sounds great. Thanks.
