The next legend? Felix Auger-Aliassime's road to the title in Lyon.

very impressive. really like his racquet head skills, good defense, and natural instinct to attack/come in!

how tall is he? he seems to have a really good serve...

Thanks for this.
Yes, I've had my eye on him for awhile (I'm Canadian) kind of ominous looking. Something about the way he moves and connects with the ball looks like a future champion. I'm not sure what makes his movement look so perfect, but it does. Extremely accurate, no wasted energy.
He's currently ranked #1 under 18 but he's just 16, so that is also very telling.
Can't wait to see him on the ATP tour. Too bad he pulled out of MOntreal with a wrist injury, that was a big opportunity, but if he's injured, no choice.

He should go with Felix Auger only. Great tennis champions do not have too many syllables to their names, or hard to pronounce, hard to spell names.

Shapalov I feel has more chance than Felix, Felix will be hungry but looks awkward at this height
and will only get taller and already suffering wrist injuries like Delpo did at this tender age.

His game is a miss mash of his fave players unlike Federer who had them, but has original strokes

Felix has based his game around Tsonga and Monfils, Tsonga serve with Monfils grip,
Tsonga like FH with Monf grip and BH on par with the referenced flashy guys.
Much looser wrist a little too much whip can be a strain on the wrists.

When is he going to start playing with the big boys? Can't be long, now.
FAA and Shaps have wildcards to Rogers Cup.

I've known guy for quite sometime but havent seen his play that much.

His movement and game in general looks effortless. Seems to be in great balance all the time, and having that good footwork with guy so tall and young is promising. Looking forward to see where he is in 2-3 years

Probably hits the biggest ball I've ever seen for a player that young, no real holes in any one department, can actually volley too. Hard to see him not being the next dominant player barring unforseen circumstances.

Looking good, certainly seems like the kid's on the right track, looking forward to seeing him develop. Looks like Canada preparing to **** all over American tennis for the next few years, on the men's side anyway.

really promising game... and seems to be a nice guy :)
Yes, from all reports he's a terrific young man. He plays the piano, is fluently bilingual, his mother is a teacher so he takes his studies seriously, his father teaches tennis but the family seems willing to let the pro's at Tennis Canada run the show and they're very protective of Felix. They know they have a special talent in him and they're trying to keep him grounded and bring him along slowly with juniors first, then futures, and now a few challengers. They could have thrown him into a few 250s but they don't want him to be overwhelmed with the pressure and the publicity.

It was bad enough when Felix first qualified for a challenger at 14 (youngest ever) and then did well in his first junior slam matches. At the 2015 USO Boys the stands were full of agents and managers and tennis hawks all wanting to have a look at him so they pulled his appearances back so he didn't get overrun with the hype. After he won the 2016 USO Boys championship they could made a lot of money for, and from, him but they were more concerned with his development and he and his family and his team tried to keep him out of the limelight as much as they could. If he can stay healthy, it's going to come for him anyway but it's good to know he has a strong base to work from.

I've been following him since he was about 13 and it's been a treat to watch him develop. He always had the magic dancing feet like Rafa and that movement is going to take him a long ways. :)

Nice post. Seems like a great kid and I love his game. That movement is silky smooth and his rhs is awesome.

Hope to see him holding slam trophies soon.

He looks good but he's no Federer

What did Fed look like at 16? And perhaps he won't be Federer, but instead he will be FA2, his own person with his own style of play.

Of course none of us knows if he will actually make it to the top, or if he will stumble on injuries or mental strength, but at least Felix has the base to make that within the realm of possibility. (Those light feet! He could be Fred Astaire!)

And to the person (@70後) who said he should change his name, there is nothing wrong with his name. And when (if) he becomes a superstar, then his name won't matter. He will simply be Felix, or The King, or something similar.
Now let's let this boy work on overcoming his injury or else this discussion will be moo.

Sounds like they have the right idea : don't skip steps in a player's development, including as a person. Don't overclock them to shoot them up the rankings in the short term. You have to aim for well rounded, well grounded individuals able to handle different conditions.

It was a joke. Hilarious you wrote like a novel response though. Be a little more sensitive next time.

yea, I see the same. definitely a little Nadal going on with this guy's game.

those who see Monfils or Tsonga, really bewilder me...

Decent stuff from FAA.

Will need to see him be dropped in the middle of the sharks to get a better feel for just how tough this guy is.

Yeah theyre shielding the guy too much…he's ready. They need to give him a WC into Montreal.

Felix is a superstar! I was amazed the first time I saw him play, I think he was 14 and already playeing like 3-4 years older. I also agree that there's some Federer in him, the way he moves, the clean, efficient strokes... and the talent. Can't wait to see him explode on the big stage. Future #1 IMO.

Yep, I'm canadian as well, a fellow Montrealer like him as well. He's so young and as you can see he's got a lot of potential.

Felix Auger sounds like a very good name for marketing, should he be a multi slam champion. Auger-Aliassime is harder for people to remember, if you want to sell them things like oh I dunno, Rxxxx, Lxxxs Vxxxxxn, Mxxxxxs-B, that kind of thing.
