We have Dimitrov as Baby Fed.

So where's our replica of Sampras?

I heard Jerzy Janowicz idolises Pistol Pete so.... yeah....

You'd think JJ can shape his game to resemble Pete's game, no?

Maybe Missile Raonic?

in terms of what? Dominating his era? Then Federer is the one. In terms of playing like Sampras? Sampras was one of a kind, you know?

In a way Sampras was more dominant:) I believe the percentage of slams won by the next few guys just below Sampras was much less then the percentage of slams won below Fed in his era. Nadal won 11 slams (and counting) during Fed's time, Agassi was 2nd best with only 8 slams won

I reckon Justin Bieber is the next Pete Sampras. Although I thought Michael Jackson was going to be the next Bieber. Hard to say. Will there be the new big talent from American Idol? They will be the greatest thing to happen to music.

Did you expect this thread to be any different than all the other garbage that fills the Pro section of this forum?

In a word, No

But to be fair, there are some very good threads on this forum, but this is a silly one.

This forum: Yes, I agree completely. This section however, there aren't any.

Everyone jumps the gun and make some ridiculous assumption, and act like they know the pros like they're their siblings.

There are a number of feasible arguments one could make as to why Sampras is better than Federer.

This is an example of an outrageously stupid one.

Raonic has the best serve of the list...jj isn't yet on that level. But prolly none considering that that style is not as conducive to winning nowadays

I think Serena Williams is the closest thing to the next Pete Sampras.

- American
- Slam Winner
- Best player of their generation
- Best/one of best serves on tour

I don't think the thread is stupid at all.

what is really asking is "will there be another player who will play like sampras and possibly accomplish great results"

maybe not all-time great level like sampras. But 4-5 slam winners who can play all court tennis.

There's this guy I know. I think he's called Roger Federer.

All court but specialises in S&V really.

A dual pistol, two shots.

Serve then volley for game.

No.

Federer is not the next sampras.

His legend is and will become bigger than his mere succession to the great pistol.

Federer did in fact took Sampras' role in dominating tennis. Although he already has more slams, weeks at #1, etc. the fact still remains that the next dominant player after Sampras is Federer. Therefore, it isn't wrong if one were to say Federer is indeed the next Sampras as many have said it since Federer began his domination. The right question now should be "Who will be the next Roger Federer?"
