Yep, probably the greatest physical improvement in 2 months time in the history of tennis. I can't think of another top player who suddenly started dominating the sport after plateauing at one level for years.

The only similar physical improvement I have ever seen like this, occurred in Major League Baseball when a couple of players suddenly got a great boost in their confidence and realized their true potential.

A lot of people are underestimating the debilitating effect of gluten if you are actually allergic to it, which Djokovic apparently is. It's not just a diet, he has a condition. In my mind that easily explains the physical improvement. He's not running circles around the top guys, he's just edging out close matches, which has more to do with confidence than physicality.

I laugh everytime I realize someone is gullible enough to believe that bs.

I have a friend with gluten allergies who gets sick when he eats gluten. He didn't discover the condition until he was 21-years-old. Why can't Djokovic have a similar condition? I guess he could be lying, but I give him the benefit of the doubt.

Yes, I read the story his team made public to the media for some reason, it is a wonder the man was able to even hold up a racquet before, very touching.

People need to realize this is a world class athlete who was already in peak condition we are talking about, not themselves or their Aunt Ethel.

In sports history there is a large list of athletes we can call the almost-weres, athletes who were close to the top for a long time but never were they strived to be. When one of these perennial almost-weres suddenly becomes the best in their sport virtually over night, a red flag goes up. http://www.slate.com/id/2110902/

History tells us the majority had one thing in common for the sudden boost in performance, unfortunately it wasn't something as simple as a diet change.

If this was something that was common to see in the sport naturally it wouldn't be met with such skepticism.

So basically all his matches before 2011 shouldn't count. This makes his H2H with Nadal 4-0 and 3-0 with Fed. Sweet!

So straight-setting the greatest clay court player 3 consecutive times on said surface is 'edging out' the top guys(s)? They may be close sets, but still, he never looked in trouble at all in those matches.

Are we also ready to believe that, in those close matches that he's had over the years with Nadal & Fed, the Djoker was suffering from said gluten issue? So he was ill, yet managed to top Nadal & Fed in previous years? He was ill, yet #3 for what seems like an eternity?

Good god, now that he's healthy, matured, great team, service back to normal, he'll win 32453453535 matches straight!

I dont support Djokovic at all, i dont like him at all, he is very Serbian (stereotyping). I love to see him beat Nadal though, gives me great pleasure

But still, it would be terrible if he had illegal substances in his body

You're just BIG AS*HOLE, you're bashing Novak all the time, you know nothing about tennis, IDIOT.

Very telling response, I can see there must be some doubt in your mind also.

Honestly, I would doubt any player who suddenly became the best in the game in such a short period of time including my favorites.

Lsmkenpo and ivan_the_terrible are just bitter angry miserable ****s who can't deal with Novak's success and try to compete who will post more lies and nonsense about Novak. Should not pay too much attention to their blabbering.

Actually, I like when Nole whips Ralph.

Happy now?

They at least compose most of their posts with intellect.

Some of these *********s seem like morons with their dumb responses"OMG STFU!Don't talk bad about Nole. Nole is the best. AJDE!"

.

How can you be so sure? So Federer before 2004 was a top 10 player (up & down) for more than a couple of years, so he was on his peak and then took roids and voila? became number 1? you do know that Fed was 23 years old when he started to actually play the way that took him to the #1, do you know how old is Djokovic? 23yo.

I see no intellect in their lies and hate. Just a misery.

Guys, you're all missing the point. How you can accuse him of doping, when he doesn't have strong background like american athletes, for example.

Serious question: What is being "very Serbian" about?

In the USA that describes the following groups:
Yankees Fans
Red Sox Fans
Lakers Fans
Celtics Fans
Duke Fans

...forgot University of Southern California Fans.

I dont give a **** what that means in USA, no one cares.

Read up on European history, experience European culture for some years, then get back to me.

lolololol.

Nice one, hefty. Maybe Miami Heat fans will be there soon. Also, majority of college students. :)

Actually I do know a little about Euro History, so don't be an ***. The point I am trying to make is people are people. Slandering a whole nation is very weak.

Very weak attempt to deflect the deserved scrutiny of the situation. I am simply skeptical, and sports history gives me a very good reason to be so.

It isn't just a few people on this board who think something is not right. It has been hinted at in the press and TV broadcasts all over the world. Are all these people bitter, angry and miserable. One of the ATP world tour broadcasters said during the broadcast "Novak's physical improvement over a few short months defies logic."

Name any player in the history of tennis who suddenly started dominating the game physically in such a short time frame, name a single one, you can't do it. It has been anything but gradual.

The severity of an allergy can obviously vary. I'm not saying he was playing matches while "sick" prior to this year, but it is a valid argument for him feeling more fit.

Djokovic's streak is incredible, but it's not like he's coming from #6 in the world to #1, he's been a talented #3 who has played many close matches with Fedal in the past. The fact that he is now coming into his prime and winning those matches should not be terribly surprising. Combining that with a little bit of luck and you have the current streak.

I'm actually not that big of a Djokovic fan, but I just don't get why people need to jump to the most controversial allegations (doping) to explain Djokovic's success. We've always known he is very talented and can beat Fedal, in my mind his current form is something tennis has been waiting for, and it's finally arrived. To me this streak is exciting, not drop-dead surprising.

I wrote that it was stereotyping, i have Serbian friends, even an x girlfriend of mine is Serbian. This is my opinion, you have yours.

Pretty silly comparison, I don't think there was a single fan of the sport who didn't think Federer was a surefire future #1 player who would go one to win many majors. His talent level was on another scale at the time. Djokovic is no comparison to an Up and coming young Federer.

Djokovic has been at a plateau in skill for years at #3 and suddenly in a few short months is on a record breaking streak not a gradual climb with escalating results over his career.

I myself often have a jaundice eye, but you are being rather cynical here! Transition to the top often happens in spurts, especially in individual sports.

Also it is important to note that the ATP tour is going through a small transitionary phase right now with other top players either injured or not in top form.

Lets go thru the entire year and see what happens before making gross accusations. Nole, and Nadal for that matter besides Nole, have not faced much competition for the most part. Again, Nadal's current form would not have taken him to 5 straight Master's finals in previous years!
