I was surprised about the 90s pattern, it is actually quite similar to the TC95 in openness. It is 16x18 and that missing cross makes a huge difference in feel and power, it really is a great frame.

I am just a little worried about my long term spending with 1.20, it rounds quite quickly but it plays so well. I may just buy a 1.25 set and compare for the moment. How long do you get out of 1.25?

My stringer told me that doing crosses is a pain in the a** because the strings grip so heavily when weaving but when I looked up TWU the string to string COF is really low! I expected most of the spin from the bite but it seems that they move a lot during the stroke and snap back /string movement is truly excellent. Also at 40 pounds it has the second highest spin potential on TWU at 8.6 (1.20)! and SP 1.30 is not far behind and has lower stiffness at this tension :eek:
Last time i used SP 125 was in a SV95 racquet and it was very comfortable @48lbs. Yeah, loved the feel, power and awesome heavy spin that made it a controllable powerful poly. I remember thinking it died a bit quick though so longevity was unfortunately not a strong point. I will be trying it eventually in K7 since i still have a pack or two.

So did you use same kevlar tension you have been using years ago? I would string new racquet with same tension I've got used to. Also there are fans of kevlar who use reverse tension - lower for kevlar mains, higher for crosses. Maybe you will like it more :)

DT values you are referring to look too high I would say. When I string at around 22kg I get 30-31 DT measured with ERT-300.

Thanks for that @scf

I did use lower tension for Kevlar mains... the Kevlar Mains were at 47 lbs and the Syn Gut crosses were at 54 lbs...

Next time I may need to go as low as 38 or 39 lbs on the Kevlar Mains, as the DT seems to be close to the tension of the Kevlar.

As far as the DT value of 46... it is printed on the sticker that is on the inside of the throat... it says 47 Mains/ 54 Crosses and then after that DT 46.

He strings for the Pros at the Brisbane International, so he knows what he's doing... He uses a top of the line Babolat Machine... I just need to lower the tensions for the next time... We'll see how it goes...

I'm having a hard time to follow haha. What string is SP?

My K7 arrived this morning around 10 am. First impression: beautiful craftsmanship, paint job outstanding. I did not weigh it before stringing. I strung it up with WC Scorpion, 122mm at 50 lbs. I did a 1 piece string job and followed the TC95 stringing instructions. It was a piece of cake. Weight to include racquet, Wilson Advantage OG and rubber band, 326 grams. No modifications.

Since it was near lunch time, I took the opportunity to take one of my TC100's and my K7 out to the court to hit some serves. First impression, the 2 grip size I got on the K7 is larger than the 3 grip size I got on the TC100. I noticed that the K7 with one overgrip feels much better in my hand than the TC100 with one overgrip. The TC100 grip felt smallish.

I hit about 75 serves, maybe 20 with my TC100 and the remaining with the K7. One thing I noticed right away with the K7 is it provides a serious thump when I hit the ball. It was addicting. I would say that the TC100 gives me a little more pace but the K7 was close behind and could definitely provide some heat. I hit all my serves, slice, topspin, flat and I must say that I really enjoyed serving with the K7. I feel like my serve had better placement with the K7. My guess is because the difference in SW between the 2 was a reason why I was able to generate comparable pace between the 2. I have no idea what the SW on either racquet buy my TC100 is 63RA.

I left telling myself, if I can hit groundstroke and volleys with this racquet like I hit serves today, this will be a keeper. Hoping to get out tonight before the rain comes in. Forecast for rain for the next week, ugh.

Nice surprise today as I am snowed in at home from fedex guy. Got my 2nd K7 delivered and had no idea it was even shipped :D I’ll have to dig out my car from the snow and take it to the stringer
man its a pretty frame...the true true test for me will be volleys. The TC100 is such a fantastic volleying beast..

It’s a head turner alright. Gonna string this one Diadem SP since our Aussie buddy reminded me of them. I’ll keep this one stock so I can at least try in stock form. My first one, I slapped on a leather grip and weight before the first time I took it out. It’s a nice volley stick just maybe not as authoritative as TC100 just like serve but it sure feels great.

so you've tried Halo and Scorpion in the K7 to this point, correct?

Yeah, we all feel K7 is bigger but I think it’s a normal L3 or L4 vs custom frame grips are too small. Especially if you compare with Angel leather. I think PU grip on K7 is fairly thick and Angell leather grip is fairly thin so contributes to the difference. Still K7 with leather L4 and TC100 with same leather L4, I feel a little difference with K7 bigger

Quick feedback on my first go with my K7. I was IMMEDIATELY dialed in on my FH. I was hitting a much larger ball than normal with great depth, everything was dropping in. My son told me that it looked like I was swinging thru the ball much faster than he’s seen, ever. The serve, practiced early today was very solid. I struggled with the timing on my OHBH and slice BH. I certainly hit some good ones but had quite a few shanks. Usually an issue I have when switching racquets. Only exception was TC100 which is a beast for my BH since day 1. Volleys were solid with K7 but I was missing a little umph that I get from my TC100. All in all a good one hour hit. We played a few games and called it a night. Probably going to add little lead up top and retest for volleys. Overhead were solid. This is really sweet racquet. My BH timing will work itself out but the volley is the area where I need it to shine since 100% of my matches are dubs.

Sounds sweet! Hope it works out well! Its like hitting with a cushion in my 90 at the moment so I can only imagine how it will go in the K7...

Can you give your impression about the K7 for (1) flat forehands, and (2) control? I know a few others have commented on this before about the K7, but wanted to hear your impression after hitting with the K7. Also, have you ever hit with the Pure Strike 19 (Project One7), and if so, would you be able to compare them? Thanks!

@topspn are you planning on keeping the new one stock always or will you match with previous one with Oehms grip and weight on hoop?
I just wanna try it stock but I’m sure I’ll match to my other. Unless of course it shocks the hell out of me stock :p I also got this new one L3 and to be honest, grip size felt pretty good.

Has anyone tried to put silicone into the handle of a Tc100 70. Hope its not gonna be too muted.?
3grams of silicone added to the handle of tc100 70ra. Its comfortable in stock form but i needed to add some weight to the handle to fine tune balance and could live with some extra dampening. Its drying now, will report results after first hit next week.

Did you take some of the foam out? Sometimes you see pro stock frames on the normal site and they take the foam from the handle and inject silicone or leave it our altogether. Seems that it could be a good experiment but not keen to do it myself...

K7 is outstanding for flat forehands. I still use a continental grip for a lot of my FH's. Control on FH was outstanding. Shots were dropping in that I thought were going out. I was pounding every forehand. In a match, I use a lot of different pace depending upon the situation so set play will really give me the true test all around. I believe topspn mentioned in his review that Return of Serve was fantastic with the K7, and I have to say, I can't wait to return serve in dubs with the frame because I can see that it will be outstanding for returns. I used the Pure Strike 19 for only about 15 minutes awhile ago so I don't remember the playing characteristics. I actually liked the 18/20 better in the short time I had with that frame.

Hi.
Does anyone can give feedback of Tour Bite versus Volkl Cyclone 1.10(thinner gauges) on TC100?
I have been using hybrid Tour bite 1.100 and wilson sensation, but people say here that Cyclone is a good choice too(and less expensive than Solinco!)

I'm typically using a 1.20-1.25 gauges and in this case TB would be more consistent and more durable for me. Cyclone is a nice string, but I'm getting less hours from it. Control and feel is better with TB as well. Both strings are pretty stiff ones. Again, all these opinions about the strings are very very individual. :)

Well, I ordered a K7 last night. First time in a while that I've paid full price for a racquet, especially without a demo. I've been playing with a DR98 since coming back from my first bout with tennis elbow. I've been very happy with the DR98, but I'm curious to see how the K7 stacks up. It's lighter than I typically use, and I don't have much experience with modding. However, the reviews have been so glowing that I didn't want to wait for a used one (with a larger grip size) to show up.

Finally strung my TC97 18x20...

I'm a little frustrated but have no one but myself to blame... Decided to string it with something I have not tried before (at least from choosing the tension - played with it in a racquet I bought from that auction site, but the tension was already chosen). I strung it with Forten Thin Blend (18 gauge Kevlar Mains and Forten Sweet Syn Gut). Went with 47 lbs Mains and 54 lbs Crosses thinking that would be low enough (usually I try strings at 52M/50C - which results in a Dynamic Tension of around 38). This baby came back with a DT of 46... Still feels OK, but just that little bit too tight. If it wasn't Kevlar I wouldn't be as frustrated as the tension would drop after playing with it for a bit (or I would step on the string bed a few times and cause the tension to drop). But as it is, the tension will remain at DT of 46 probably for the entire time...:mad::mad:

Live and learn... Live and learn... Will just have to play with it, and then re-string with something more familiar...

I don't feel like I can assess the racquet properly and share my experience until I get it right...

The racquet feels great in hand and the quality is evident... But I haven't experienced that Euphoric moment yet...
Kevlar will break in and drop tension.
But if I were you, I’d throw it back on the stringer with strings still in. Cut out crosses and replace with poly crosses. This will keep the mains from sticking.

Thanks for that @travlerajm ... good idea... then put poly at similar tension to mains...?

I've read in places that the Kevlar pretty much stays at the tension it has been strung... what makes you think it drops?

Strung my TC700 70RA with YPTP 1.25 (graphite) this morning. Hmm, while stringing I noticed that graphite version seems noticeably more stiff than yellow. Will be interesting to try it later on today.

Did it changed the feel or performance? They add around 2 grams i think
It does add about 2g according to Paul (I didn't weigh them myself) but I can't really tell the difference to be honest.

I wanted a Stormtrooper look and I thought I had some with poly laying around but I didn't. Next time I'm gonna do the black gut white poly for sure. :)

did someone here jumped from ig prestige mp / xt prestige mp to tc97? :) I wonder how tc97 could perform with SW under 325. I remember tc95 63 ra with 320 SW strung wasn't quite good (stability and small sweet spot issues).

Phew so much snow thank goodness for all wheel drive or I wouldn’t have been able to go play tennis this weekend. Yesterday hit for an hour with a demo Beast 100. Nice racquet, good power and still comfortable for its stiffness. Today hit 1 1/2hrs with my modded K7 freshly strung with quadro twist. Nice match for racquet, good power, big heavy spin and slithering slices. Played a guy 1/2 my age and gosh I miss having wheels like that. First outing with quadro twist was very nice which is a good thing because I still have a couple more packs laying around.

Heres a comparison of the three patterns of the smaller headed frames. The 16x19 97 and K7 use the same grommets so very similar and 18x20 95 uses the same as the 97.

First thing that strikes me is the openness of the TC90 pattern. It is much more similar to the 16x19 compared to the 18x20. The 18x20 is an incredibly tight pattern, I think only my Pure Storm Limited could beat it in density (18x20 true 95).

I also did some measurements and the 90 head was less than a CM shorter and a CM narrower than my 95. The pattern was even closer considering the 90 has a 16x18 pattern spreading the crosses extremely well for power.

Some of the 90 strings are a bit wonky, low tension solstice power and the crosses have rounded a lot so they have lost their control/snapback. Might hold out for stringer to arrive to restring.

Das anyone play with longer version of TC95.

My first Angell was a TC95 18x20 it was 27.5" and I believe 320 grams. I thought it swung like an anvil and punished the ball but was kind of sluggish especially after I went from Halo 1 to a 1.30mm Poly. The swing weight turned out to be 370! It was cut back down to standard and it was still around 360 SW.
