The Official Angell Users Club

All went well yesterday. Back on courts in 4 to 6 weeks. I do have considerable atrophy in my quad on my bad knee so lots of PT and weight training over the next year to regain equal strength in both quads.
You’ll get there buddy! Positive outlook and training will get you back good as new. Glad to hear it went well yesterday.

That's great news! Rehab is very important but you will be back to top form/shape in no time. Just stay positive and take it easy in the beginning to not stress anything out. Best of luck, you got this!

Wow - that’s all I can say! What a transformation!

I almost gave up on the TC100, but now I will definitely be spending more time with it. Everything just work now.

The K7 didn’t even come out of the bag today.

Amazing! Thank you saleem, amazing suggestion.
I am glad I was able to help you out with your TC100 @esm I have followed @travlerajm thread on this topic for long time and I was lucky to come across @RanchDressing and @zalive who were kind enough to answer 100s of my questions, all credits go to those guys and I am happy to share what I learned.

Phew even black night couldn’t help out. Gale winds doing whatever they wanted with the ball while we simply tried to chase and see if we could smack a ball. We gave up after 20mins so hope tomorrow is better but by next week may not be able to have outdoor tennis anymore for a while. More comedy then tennis today

I was trying out a demo today but managed to get in about 20 mins with a TC95 strung with Black Night @46lbs. It was my favorite string on a PSTGT and it sure carries over to the TC95 very nicely. A predictable comfortable response and heavy ball and looking forward to keep hitting with this setup.

Back home now, sorry we didnt meet up but what's this black night string?

Hey no worries, one of these times we will find time for a hit. Black Night as Saleem mentioned is made by Tier 1, a hexagonal slick surfaced copoly. It has just the right balance of power and control in my view. A very consistent and predictable response with nice ball pocketing and good longevity. It normally sells for $8.95 and free shipping over $25 but it seems it just went on sale for $6.95 so I just snatched a bunch more. I have only played the 16g which is 1.28 mm. For me, fantastic string especially at it’s price point.

how does the black knight plays in tc95 @topspn ?
Like I said, in the TC95 only got about 20mins today since I was trying to play test another frame. However a very auspicious 20min with pretty heavy balls and same high predictably. Comfort was no issue at all and volleys felt very point and shoot. I’ll describe more as I hit with this combo. On the PSDTGT, i played maybe 3 string jobs with BK and just loved it.

Hi,Angell lovers!
I’ve just ordered a K7!Waiting for the frame!
As I had already mention before, Some struggles with TC100,310grs,63RA, mainly because of swinging.
Never felt that I have “control” from this powerful frame.
What can I expect from K7 comparing to TC100?
String and tension suggestions?

It is still an open pattern but certainly more control as it’s not as powerful of a frame. Decent power but not Thor’s hammer ;) I really liked square-x @50lbs. Of course, i added a leather grip, 7g @7” from butt cap and 3g @12. That was the setup i liked the most on K7

You switched from the 16x19 to the 18x20 in the 95, correct? How do they each compare to the PSTGT & each other? I remember you saying you really enjoyed the 8 mains in the throat for the extra control but not much else.
Edit: I don’t wanna wait until they come for this info!!!!! I NEED IT NOW

lol..some people get so demanding  I actually have TC95 in both patterns and of course i have PSTGTs. PSTGT is pretty much perfect for an aggressive baseliner but i think the TC95 shines at an all around game. I think the 16x19 or 16x20 with 8 mains in the throat is the perfect compromise in patterns. The TC95 18x20 forces you to really exaggerate your strokes on low balls and be extra diligent with your knees and overall rewarded with a high plateau of precision. TC95 16x19 has no problem at all with low shots, allows you to cheat a bit from the extra power and I can hit at 85% heavy shots that bother people and force errors.

Hahaha not demanding, just excited
To be honest - when I first started playing, during my 2nd year in I became obsessed with getting a players frame to ‘control’ my shots, ended up with a Prestige Mid.
Now here I am, 9-10 years later after taking such a long break until recently wanting more and more spin, and power (because while I’m 25, my knees are about 65).
Regardless, I’m more than thrilled to be getting them. Can’t wait to thwack the ball

Hi!
310grs,315mm,9hl,63RA!
I use Babolat Vibrakill dampener(the frame vibrates A LOT!)
Thanks a lot,mate:)!

But you know...not always need a Thor Hammer:)!
Some control and accuracy are always welcome too for our game!
And I always feel “too much” power with TC100...even with 23/24 kgs of tension.
I now seek for something more controllable and perhaps not so open pattern(like Wilson Ultra Tour)

Keep in mind that K7 while not as powerful as TC100, it does have an open pattern! However it is very neutral on launch angle and has more control.

those seems like your original ordered specs @recsoares not the "current" specs, I sent you a pm on how to, you can reply my message after weighing your racket and measuring you balance.

Just curious as to why the majority of 95 users use a round co-poly as opposed to a shaped one? Are the grommets really that soft? Only strings I have left are all shaped
Every time the grommets have been cut when I had my Angells strung with shaped strings. I also wonder the Angell grommets are so fragile. What are the advantages of softer grommets?

How could I order new buttcap and pallets for my Angells?

I see an old message telling to buy a synthetic grip and put a remark to swap for, is that for both the pallet and a buttcap?

So 1 synthetic grip price = pallet + buttcap?

Well in that case - some shapes polys y’all recommend for the 95? Any luck with Volkl Cyclone in it? (My favorite poly atm)
Never tried any of the new strings I.e. hyper g, black knight.

Also - any tips from you guys about making the transition into the TC 95? Haven’t played a racquet with such a high launch angle since my K Six.One 95 16x18 (sold it a few months later. Just didn’t like the feel), but I was also significantly worse back then lol.

They arrive tomorrow!
Going to get them strung up with my last set of Volkl Cyclone 16 yellow @ 48 & the other with my last set of Yonex Poly Tour Spin G @ 44 (maybe even 42, as I didn’t enjoy the string @ 46 in my DR 98)
my suggestion is to keep the tensions on both relatively close, 44 with Poly Tour spin will be better considering Angell rackets have higher launch angle specially comparing to Yonex DR98

My second full evening hitting with BK in my TC95s, such a nice string. I immediatly noticed my touch shots were feeling pretty good due to very nice feedback feel. It tempted me to try more silly things like a drop off a serve or faking I’ll hammer the ball on an approach and switching to gentle drop shot. Very impressive pocketing and sense of the ball on the string bed. Terrific heavy ball on ground strokes and I can flatten out when needed nicely. This string is not to grabby yet imparts terrify spin so helps with launch angle.

I’ll keep that in mind for sure!
I’ll also PM you immediately when I start struggling with the frame so you can teach me the secrets to the 95, as I’ve heard you have the magic touch

Planning on trying out a few more different strings here soon, unless the Cyclone plays as great for me as it does in my other racquets. Black Knight, Black Zone, Focus hex, and maybe even some genesis string since TW carries it now.

sounds good @Sintherius message me if you need help.
I had good luck with weisscannon silverstring, rs lyons and polyfiber TCS in round strings, ultra cable played well in shaped string for me

Hy, i'm have Angell TC97 310g, 31.5cm balance(8PTS HL) on the way 16x19 stringbed. Never used Angell frame before so i wanted to ask a few tips before i put new strings on it.
Last 3 years I used Wilson Pro staff 97 (315g) non-countervail version, and last year I used black countervail version. Strings I used - MSV Focus HEX 1,23 25kg mains and 24 kg in the crosses(55 lbs/53 lbs),Also tested occasionally Wilson RF97 Autograph for 8 months last year but was too heavy for me during longer matches so i sold it..
I am around 5.0 NTRP level, my shots are relatively flat with little of spin in it, and when needed i produce extra spin wihout problems. Double handed backhand, and all around game..
I just wanted to ask(especially if someone has this os similar setup) what can i expect from this frame(vs my Pro staff 97) and would it be the best to stay with my preffered string tension?
Thanx
