I took my TC90 out for a spin and it is unfortunately lacking the solid feeling of my 93P. I think I will need to add more weight. I ordered 310 9 pt headlight like before but feels different. I asked for lower RA wonder if it's much lower? Or could be the mushy feeling of the PTP in the frame not suiting it that well.

Either way, I will add 20gram to the handle and then more to the head. Already has about 6grams at 12 but 16x18 is not going to add much swingweight compared to 18x20. Hits a big ball already but it needs that weight to not be pushed around. Might need more tension as it was at 45.

A bit of work to do but it feels very different. Dwell is more like the TC97 on the 93P compared to the 90. Hope can get something sorted out shortly.

The ASL3 was just to much power for my taste with an open pattern. I am hoping this one will be a little bit like a more forgiving TC95 63RA and some added lateral stability based on the new throat design. We shall see.

Haha I just did the same : ) @topspn any advice on 1.3mm strings because of the open pattern??
I have a few in that gauge like Head Hawk, Tour Bite, BBO, Black Zone. However I just got some Tourna Silver 7 Tour which i have never tried but keep hearing good things about so will try.

Whose idea was it to take away the like? Anyway, the ASL2 should be going out Monday so hopefully will get Wednesday and have it strung up for play coming weekend. I will be busy with different racquets between my Dahcor 97s, new blade and ASL2. I will have to devise someway of rotating between them :X3:

Good problem to have... :giggle: ;)

Question for the Angell professionals out there:

I have a TC100 V2 and a TC95 V2 with the same specs: 320g/310mm balance, 63ra.

Yet no matter how I string the 95 is always feels super dead and slightly harsh. The 100 flexes a little more and has loads of power compared to the 95.

I typically string low, and have currently a 1.20mm string in both.

With that said, what truly is the major difference, and where does the 97 fit in? Lol. Thanks!

hmm..that doesn’t sound like TC95 to me so not sure what’s going on. They’re both the same lineage and both have power but yes TC100 is more. I never played my Angell with 1.20 gauge which way to thin for me in an open string pattern. I always favored 1.3mm and found several strings that play very nicely in TC95. Black Night, Black Zone, Head Hawk, RS Lyon, BBO, Revolve spin. My favorites were BN and BZ which did not play dead or harsh at all. I strung @48lbs so not to high. The TC95 plays with more control and precision, while TC100 has a bit more brute force and less control

Hmm, yeah. I currently have the 100 strung with Head Lynx 1.20 (had it laying around) at 45/42 which is my usual reference tension coming from my Prince TT 95. I strung the 95 at the same tension and it wasn't close to having power while the 100 is a cannon to say the least. My string lately is Tier-one Tour Status 1.25. I just can't use 1.3m string - not enough feel for me perosnally.

I restrung the 95 with Black Widow 1.20 @ 42# and it plays better but still feels a bit stiff. Though very similarly to my Prince. Maybe I'm jusy enjoying the easy power/flex of the 100....

So I am not sure what the tell you but my experience with the TC95 and a lot of others by the way is its got quite a bit of power. So not like a PD type power to just arm the racquet but if you have decent mechanics the TC95 is a force. And at the very low tension and very lively thin gauges you’re playing, you should be getting some serious power. The TC95 is one of those frames you boss people around with. Anyway, i truly have no advice and assume you got a damaged TC95 somehow.

Like @topspn already said... not sure what to tell you... maybe try natural gut in the mains and poly in the crosses. Mine came to me with Klip Black 1.25mm gut in the Mains and Yonex PTP (yellow) in the Crosses. It played with great power, but also awesome control when I swung out fully and used proper stroke mechanics.

Hope that helps.

Thanks guys. Currently how it is with the BW it feels way better. And next to my Prince, it's pretty damn similar so I don't think I'm really complaining, it's still an incredible racquet.

I guess what I'm feeling is the fun of the extra pop of the TC 100. Such easy fun power (and stable!)

Is there any other 100sq in at 12.3oz that plays like that? Just curious

Only 100 sq in. I played with is the Roddick Pure Drive from 2012... very powerful racquet that became too much once I moved to a more humid part of the country.

I remember those. I tried to use one from like 2015 but found the thicker beam a little hard to use. It's funny how we learn more and more about our likes/dislikes over the years

Think after weeks of deliberating I might go for the TC100, Handle B, Length 27.5" and 310g 7pt HL, 63 RA - anyone have similar setup to this?
I currently use Yonex DR98+ so wanted a similar setup so can interchange between rackets.

I was also considering the TC97 16x19, Handle B, Length 27.5" and 310g 7pts HL, 66 RA.

Any views on these 2 setups?

I play mostly flat shots, with a mainly sliced backhand and play a lot of doubles so volleying is part of my game too.

TC100 has some natural power to it so I’d be careful with what I wish for in extended length. If you have to, at least get more headlight so it would be quick. TC100 will also naturally not be as whippy as an EZONE

Having hit the DR 98 standard version I’d say it Plays closer to the TC97, has similar spin, control. & also lower launch angles than most 16x19’s I’ve hit.
TC100 would need more of an adjustment I’d guess

Would you say the TC97 Sweetspot is smaller or larger than the DR98.
I am trying to get a bit more power into my game and that is prime reason I was looking at the TC100.

I actually like my DR98+ racket but looking at something that maybe can give me more at tight matches.

Difficult to say really as it was 3 years ago, I was struggling to commit to the right frame until I bought the tc97's, I’d given the DR a good go prior to buying the TC97s, the beam width I didn’t really like and I can remember not dialling in my forehand & being a few mph down on my serve with the DR. The Angells are all excellent to serve with and i was nailing my ground strokes so I stuck with these and have never looked back really. I bought a tc100 and messed around with that but I’m 3 years in with the tc97’s and they fit my game. I’m selling a tc100 to try out a v3 tc97 as all my 97s are version 2.

Steve what’s reason for using the + versions? Find them a bit sluggish so my swing speed actually hinders the pace on my shots.

Played my first match with a new Pure Aero Tour this weekend. Guy was ridiculously slicing every ball. I found I had zero feel or connection to the ball that allowed me to slice back and also lacked the maneuverability to feel confident carving the ball.

Switched to my TC95 after dropping the first set and the nat gut / ghostwire setup in it felt so damn good. I sacrificed some power but had some amazing touch shots that made me feel like I could play tennis again!

lol yeh Hyper G i tried only once & i found it stiff, stringing it up in a Pure aero i think i'd need to pop a few pain killers ready for that stiff & hollow response i'd expect to feel.

I am not the tallest so the + gives me leverage for a better server and also as my shots are flat I find it helps with my forehands and slice backhands as more mass and stability.

My elbow is durable. Only time I ever had TE was when I was young and stupid and didn't know to string poly low. Played a full bed of Alu Power Spin Rough for 8 weeks and didn't realize the poly dies before breaking.

I balanced, weighed, measured the grip etc on my 95bajd and 100. Everything is dead on even.

I guess it's just my current preference.

Anyone wanna trade a basically brand new TC95 V2 for a TC100 V2? Lol. 320g/310mm/63ra/L3 lol

I’m sure you like the TC100 which is totally fine. I really enjoyed the TC100 in both RAs. I just couldn’t make out you thinking the TC95 being weak or had no power while the TC100 had loads of it. Yes, the TC100 should have more but it is a lot closer then the gap you mentioned. This is why theorized you might have a damaged TC95. Anyway, TC100 is fantastic and the V3 are really nice so enjoy.

Right - but how would I know if I had a damaged one? The 95 still feels so so low powered and the 100 like a cannon comparatively (and that was at same string same tension).

Idk, it's definitely confusing, and just picking up the 95 it "feels" heavier, way more head light than he 100 and it's not.

Have you tried measuring the SW of your TC95? Just out of curiosity if your local pro shop has an RDC or an accuswing, try measuring and tell us what you find

Not yet but I will. I use a swingweight calculator I found online. My club isn't big enough/too cheap to try to get one. So hitting serves just the 95 is solid but you really gotta swing, as compared to the 100 where the ball jumps off the court on my kick and the flat even jumps up higher.

I think this is why I like the 100 better lol

There are a couple of people who reported their TC95 63RA V1 and V2 SW was lower than usual. So that’s sub 293 or so unstrung SW. They mentioned it felt brittle and unresponsive. They had other TC95 and they played great and they enjoyed them. No one has reported this on the V3. TC95 63RA has a monster serve

thanks for the info!

according to my calculator, both have a swingweight of 317 (strung, dampner, overgrip) for both. is that low for the frame?
