I can also vouch for the ASL2. Really an underappreciated frame, perhaps due to the "power racket" description on the website. I have made the ASL2 my main frame, transitioning from V3 TC95 16x19, largely because of its great versatility.

I agree that very few modifications are necessary. I demoed the VCore Pro HD and loved the feel/balance, so I recreated the specs with my ASL2. Unstrung ASL2 specs were 310g/315mm/288 SW. After modifications, I have it at 340g/319mm/~325 SW. Feels/swings great.
What are the 30g mods u made to the stick?

I think Wilson's QC has improved with the v7 blade, but yes, the 2015 Blade has one of the worst QC in the history of racquet production.
Well, they made it at least an issue because they mention the following with the product features:
"Reduced spec variance (+/- 5.5 g) for added consistency from frame to frame"

Check:

Usually it is a +/- 7 g variance.

Yeah, the +/- 5.5g is atrocious QC and i did think it was hilarious wilson is touting it.

I once came across two Wilson K Blades a while back that were 12 grams apart but as per their rep, within Wilson tolerance (one was 5g or 6g under and the other 5g or 6g over). It was hilarious. They have atrocious QC. I agree that +/- 5.5g is nothing to boast about, really.

So my three TC100s have the A grip shape which i do like on serve but having a hard time acclimating to still on groundstrokes. It is probably a good fit for someone who hits eastern. I tend to encroach on semi western and adjust more eastern when trying to go more flat. It bothers me moving into semi western were its not as easy or seamless as the B shape. I also have more trouble getting into a 1 handed backhand grip. I may have to change grip shape

After using Head racquets for a while, I realized their grip shape kinda sucks. The B pallets I find to be the most natural one.

I think if you’re someone who likes to have his grip stable on eastern, it might be good. However if you want versatility changing your grip, it doesn’t seem to be optimum.

For me I have one TC100 that's a B shape (my first forray into Angell), and the ones I'm currenlty using are C shape which feels the most like my Prince frames. I know once you get used to a "shape" it's sometimes hard to change.

Anyone every change the butt cap to a different shape? I;m considering playing around with maybe adding a Wilson butt cap to one of my frames just to see.

I'm pretty sure the buttcap swap won't change the pallet shape. Might add more or less flair though

Any of you who have swapped pallets before, what double sided tape did you use to secure new pallet? And if anyone has any B3 pallets they don’t need please let me know.

And how do you stable back the end cap or do use glue for the end cap?

Hi
I have changed pallets many times.
I am using cheap , thin double sided carpettape and a clean hairpin.
For the buttcap I am using 4 stapels that are 7-8 mm and a normal springpowered stapler. Put the stables through the thinnest of the buttcap..
I have never had a Angell/Vantage buttcap/pallet to fall off..

Best Lphansen

I didn't use any new double sided tape except the sticky mesh that was already on the frame. I secured them to the frame with a staple gun, two staples on each of the large sides.

Buttcap was also secured with two staples. I tried an epoxy once but it actually came undone and ended up damaging the pallets themselves.

Never had an issue with my Vantages using that method.

I've used generic and 3M double sided tape and both worked fine. I cleaned the pin prior, then line it with the double sided tape, and also inside the the new pallet. Normal stapling for the butt cap into the new grommet using existing holes, or matching where they would be on a new cap.

I recently just did a head pallet swap on the new 360 Radical to the older shape pallet, and a Head pallet on a Weed racquet to bring the size down. It's kind of fun haha

I assume you wrapped the tap around the pin

The staple gun I bought to do the pallet swap wasn't anything particularly fancy. I don't think it was the cheapest one out there, but I also remember not spending very much on it. Just put some even pressure on it while you drive in the staples and it'll be fine.

Actually I just looked again and it was the yellow Bostitch staple gun that I got. They're about 20 bucks everywhere

That comparison is within most recent pages of this thread. Just scroll up or go back a few pages.

Well, here is what i got and for grand total including tax $22.84. I’ll post some pics of the process after I’m done with hopefully successful racquet surgery :p

Very curious how the process goes for you, in the past when stapling buttcaps and pallets with a hand tacker I haven't had much success. I'm assuming since the Angell pallets are foam it's easier for the staples to penetrate the hairpin?

that's basically what we have here. I usually have to tap the staples all the way in with a soft mallet or with a small hammer as long as they go in straight. i should taken pics the last time i did it. good luck!

Oh my pallets are too long, I guess I have to cut them down to size of ones I took off

yeah - most come longer to fit any length racquet. I had the two head pallets, and one cut fairly easily with a razorblade, the other was kind of brittle. It's not hard to cut them though. I then sanded it down a little to make sure it was smooth and fit perfectly on the bottom. #OCD haha

I used a swiss army knife small blade to get under the staples and pry them up a bit then pulled out with pliers. Easy enough and used a box cutter blade to separate the seam between the halves of the pallet then wiggled them off. The sticker mesh underneath seemed intact and i was gonna keep it but it didn’t look like the pallet was holding to good so i took it off and going with gorilla tape. Found a perfect little tiny saw in my tool box which i didn’t even know i had that works perfect to cut the pallet down to size.

Perfect! It's cool how they do the weighting. I've read about it but never seen it

Ugh, the gorilla mounting tape didn’t work, its way to thick and had a big separating between the half pallets. Will have to look for different tape

Really? Damn. The stuff I have is a roll that has paper backing on both sides, def thin.

Edit: One side, sorry

Good luck! Try 3M tape. It's strong, and very thin and you can go around plenty of times without increasing weight. I would have told you and saved the hassle about Gorilla tape being too thick, but I just read the whole thread from top.

Separate note:
My wife would absolutely burn me alive if she saw me with my screw drivers, saws and other tools like this on her granite counter tops. Hope you didn't scratch up yours!

Yeah you don’t know what you don’t know I guess. And I bought a stapler that literally didn’t work and was jammed so weird. Had to return it and get another. But my countertops are just fine, didn’t do anything hardcore on them.

That’s rather nice. Looks like the ASL on the throat...

Nah, that’s angell on that 6 o’clock region
edited: now i got what you meant, you weren’t taking about the lettering. Yep, throat is ASL

Yup, that's why I never replaced the mesh, cuz any double sided tape I had was too thick. I used to race rc cars so I had some pretty sticky stuff, but even the thinnest gauge I had was too thick. I couldn't replicate the mesh he has

Well, finally racquet surgery came out successful phew. My third try of a two sided tape was perfect. I used 2 sided carpet tape and it sure looked very close to the original looking sticky mesh. I’ll throw on an OG and try very early in the morning drill. So aside of several trips to stores today looking for the right 2 sided tape, another observation is the staples. The originals are narrow and long so they fit the width of the end cap bevels yet reach through to pallet and graphite underneath to hold everything together.

Through trial and error, 2 sided carpet tape was perfect and looked just like original mesh

I'm curious about that chamber at the top of the hairpin. When does Paul add weight there? What weight and balance? I actually prefer weight in that location, but I'm not sure if my TC95 18x20s have any there or not (320g/10pts hl).

I’m not sure. I kept all weight as is and did not move anything around. Just swapped pallets and put it back together.

Oh my, new frame, a TC101

Well. Seems that a 101 sq inches, box beam throat with TC97 like stiffness is more what public demands than a 8M 100 sq inches 'D' beam we have been requesting. Specs for this are not my cup of tea, but any new offering is always welcome I guess.
