This is question is for you or anyone else who might know or has hit both, but I'm curious how the VCORE 98 305 and K7 Red compare. The Lime was a little too much frame for him, but he loved the feel. Considering how wide open the spacing is on the VCORE 98, the Angell 16x19 might be perfect for him. He likes his Yonex frames, but I'd like to see him with an Angell. :D
The VCORE is not as flexy or as controlled. Much better feel with the K7 for me and yes open pattern does give easy spin. I like the k7 red more in all aspects but the Vcore does give a bit easier power

Yeah, I was certain about the flex but not the power levels. If I can find a used one, I'll let him try it out. Pretty safe return on the investment.

I followed up the next two matches with the TC95 16m and had that nice familiar feel. I'll probably hold onto this forever. I have been hitting mostly with my 18/20 as well as the Prestige 360+ Mid. It was nice to have that easy access to spin and the extra power. Last match I used the Prestige. Fun day on the courts today. Was working on consistency as well as ball placement. Had 2 matches with a couple beginners so to make it fun, just gave them rally balls.

Gloss paint has always been pretty durable for me! Btw, it’s that red in Yonex line that is especially bad I’m not sure why. Many other Yonex frames were fine including the new ezone 100 that I sold
How come you sold the Ezone? Thought you liked it a lot - what put
you off?

Try Vcore 95 if you like K7 feel, only bit less control (95inch but 16x20) and sweetspot but slight more power and spin.. I play with both and depending on how I feel.. love the feel of K7 Lime and Vcore95 also has a great feel, both 61-62RA strung... very different than Vcore98

TC97 got some action today. Really enjoying it with gut/poly. Had to get familiar with it as it's pretty hefty (pretty close to my iPrestige and Radical Bumblebee MP).
Woo... this reminds me I was on a hunt for a TC97 18x20. Lol. I have a few sets of colour grommets, so that’d be handy one day....
Do you think it’d play closer to the PT57A (either 280/639 or the Bumblebee) or the PT57E? Thanks 8-B

I have some extra grommets I believe for this but they are black. My TC95s are red and black. Might get some color to put on the TC97 some day. Accessorize lol

With the set up I have (moved some of the weights around and added putty) it is close to the two that I mentioned. I just got a PT280 (standard grommets) and am not really familiar with it (other than I like it) and I plan on keeping it with the grommets it came with for now. I'll experiment with lead on the pt280 later on down the road to help me decide if I put CAPs on it.

IIRC they all have a familiar feel when swinging. The iPrestige and the Bumblebee seemed to be more of a hammer/thunder stick and a nice level of crispness but the TC97 wasn't lacking in power with my string set up.

Ah. I see - do you play with the Maxply Fort much ? That was my racquet briefly in the 80s, and my dad had seven when he played county level 15+ years before!

Ever since I got the Artengos, I’ve been playing them exclusively. I purchased the MF Tourney addtion maybe 7yrs ago. I believe this was circa 1980 or 81 and pretty much the start of graphite. I had an older version as a kid. The frame is in mint condition without as much as a scratch and I want to keep it that way. It is strung with syn gut and i do take it out a couple of times a year maybe for a hit but I am very careful with it.

Finally, after 9months in possession, I figured out and loved my TC 100 v3. Quite a hard transition for me from a Pure Aero Tour(2016) with lots of tweaks to match with my PAT but actually a proper string and revert back to default specs right out of the box or what specs I ordered gave me the love of this racket. My journey story to this racket will be long if anyone interested which I almost sold this racket, like I only gave 2 days to test my pair of racket then magically I fell in love on this one for whatever reason.

My dad gave the last of his to my son and it’s kind of an heirloom to remember him by so it never gets played. I have been known to occasionally play the Macgregor wooden racquets he replaced them with for fun - it’s especially fun when you win sets off folk playing with modern kit!

Interesting. How would you describe the differences between the PA and TC 100? Also, I'm curious to know why would you want to match the TC 100 to your PAT in the first place, given the goal of switching is usually to get something different out of a racquet?

I've recently been looking at ways to control the power of my TC 100 by playing with strings and tension - anyone have any similar experiences?

Actually it's PAT, or my modified PAT, changed the grip to leather for feel and I want a HL balance. I got TC 100 to tame the power of PAT which is really good and powerful but most of the time a little bit too strong when I'm going for the kill or near the net to driving forehand tends to always loop on strokes, also I want to hit or add a flatter shot in my arsenal and PAT is a racket that is hard to do so, feels like racket is resisting on the swing when doing flatter shot, but definitely great on top spin swing. Also the weight, I want a lighter racket as my modified PAT goes 344-347 and really hard to maneuver on off balance or sudden quick reaction groundstrokes and I'm not getting younger to have a cat like reflex forever. And of course the comfort, I can hit groundies and stand toe-to-toe on heavy groundstrokes but will me tires or my hand will have that tingy feel at the end of the game probably for all the shocks received. Lighter and more comfortable and matching racket also (I love to be the unique one with cool brand and paint job.)

I just started playing some tennis again after taking about 3 months off due to the pandemic. Sooooo nice to hit some balls. And, I decided to start things off with my TC90s. I tell you, it could just be a second honeymoon, but I am trying to remember now why I stopped playing with them. I have them strung loose (poly mains and syngut cross), and they feel amazing. 2nd time back and I hit more aces and unreturnable serves today than I ever have in one session. I was playing mostly with 95/98 with 18X20 patterns for the last 18 months or so, and thought I'd converted to that, but I think I'm going to change course and get back together with my TC90s.

I did want to stop, but, even though I love my V3 TC100 RA63, I needed to try the TC95. Just ordered... After reading and reading through this thread I guess I know what I would get and had to expect and still I needed to order. Let me see whether I can "avoid" the TC97 open pattern (I like a lot the 18x20 but a little too much for me).
Looking forward to compare.

For the angell geeks out there a couple of questions.

Which is the lowest powered 16*19 frame Angell does? K7 or TC97?

Does Paul sell his grip pallets seperately? And what are the dimensions of the bare hairpin shaft underneath, once you take the pallets off?

emhtennis

K7Red is probably the lowest powered from everyone's anecdotes.

Yes, you can buy pallets individually but you have to request them thru the website.

I've never stripped down to a hairpin, so I dont know.

K7 is lower powered out of those two. It’s also not foam filled so it’s easier to customize with lead and silicone/epoxy.

Yes it’s a level 1 customization, just request the pallets in your order comments after emailing with them. I don’t know the shaft dimensions, but it’s unique from any other brand in that there are cutouts for lead weights.

K7 doesn’t have changeable pallets, only the TC range does. (Apologies if you are already aware, I just thought it worth mentioning in case you weren’t). I’ve always thought it’s a cool feature of the TCs.

Thanks guys for the responses! I assume the K7’s flex is about 62RA strung?

Is there anybody else who knows the dimensions of the angell hairpin handle, or the inside of the pallets? Have read the vantage hairpin was about 19x26mm....

I’ve been out with an injury for a while and haven’t been following this thread either. How come TC101 doesn’t get much love? I used the search function but didn’t find any decent review here. Apart from Tennisnerd YouTube video there is not much real world info.

I just got my first Angell, the TC 95 16x19 63RA. I've already played with it and it was such a joy :) The flex gives me much better feel, like I used to play with wooden racquets. The racquet is also very comfortable for the arm.
Nice review. Nice how you show the difference between the frames.
Curious about your further experiences with TC95.

It's awesome :D. I always prefer the flexible racquets as when I play with wooden racquet, it gives me much better feel.

I have an odd elbow problem when serving with my extended racquet. With this 28" TC 95, I totally enjoy practicing, pain free and playing better game.

The racquet is very versitile. I feel like I can do anything I want. The swingweight and twistweight is higher than other 95 in2. I like that. It gives great stability without me carrying to much static weight :).

So a bit curious what you meant. You were looking the racquet over and you said you expected more and not as nice as you imagined but you said the PJ was good. What exactly did you mean? What were you looking at that didn’t meet your expectations. Just curious nothing more

I think it's an over expectation, without clear image of what to expect :p. Based on the initial raw feeling, the paint job of VCore Pro feels more premium. It's just the raw feeling. The grommets and buttcap of the TC 95 are soft. The more time playing with the Angell, the more I like it :).

Hmm than maybe this last PJ is not as good as the picture. Any of the previous Angell PJs gunmetal, black/grey or black/copper oozed quality and would blow any Yonex for me including the VCORE pro. But taste is subjective I certainly like the glossy rich depth of coler and feel while others think flat paint looks more premium which truly baffles me

The octane pj is great though. It's one of the reason I was convinced to buy it. I prefer matte finish and the green / purple colour is unique. More importantly, the performance is brilliant :D.

Nice review!! (y) Sorry if you posted the information already but I'm wondering what the swing weight is. I've been considering buying a 28" TC95 or TC97 - particularly now the 'octane' paint job is available - but I'm wary of the swing weight being too high.

I've been trying out the Tennis Tension App and the readings I get, straight off the machine, are about 10lbs tighter than reference. Machine is calibrated Gamma x-ls.

I know I can use the "calibration" setting which will "fix" it but that doesn't help with checking other rackets since you can't save profiles.

The only thing I can think of is the foam in the frame is interfering with the apps way of measuring. Or, the apps is not very good. If you use the app on angells, how have you found it?

Swingweight is 370 STRUNG, overgrip included. I asked Angell about sw before he made the racquet. He estimated about 330. I asked to try to get 325. I can't test the sw UNSTRUNG :D.

Static weight is 347gr STRUNG. I like that I don't have to carry much static weight but have high swingweight. My 28" Yonex racquet is 356gr and 356 sw and this TC 95 is easier to play, for me. Racquet head speed is a bit overrated. I don't need to be swing fast to hit good shots :p.

Exciting day, just ordered my third TC97 18x20. Having three matching rackets will now (finally) allow me to focus on finding an optimal string setup. Currently have the Ashaway Crossfire ZX hybrid (17g) in both frames. The hybrid performs as advertised. I've played a LOT of tennis over the past two weeks. Probably upwards of 40+ hours divided between both frames. The kevlar has barely notched and I'm still getting plenty of spin. The downside is that this particular hybrid (strung at 60/40) was very stiff for the first two hours, then actually felt comfortable and amazing for I'd say the next 10. But the past 10 hours the stringbed seems to have gotten harsher and harsher on my wrist. The performance and consistency of the stringbed hasn't changed, and half the problem is probably my sharp uptick in overall playing hours. When I switched to a frame I had personally modified to the same specs as my Angells but with silicone in the handle and a full (soft) poly stringbed there was a night and day difference on my wrist.

So, all that to say, I have ordered the starter pack from Tier 1 (18g) where you get one set each of their 6 different strings, I still have enough left for one more round of MSV Focus Hex 1.18 and Volkl Cyclone 17g. To try and keep the playtest fair I'll string everything at 50lbs. The last time I put MSV in the frames I had it at 46lbs, but in the high heat and humidity it fell off real fast and even my 18x20 became an unwieldy rocket launcher.

I’ve been using the Racquetune app for a few years and it seems to work pretty well. It may be worth considering if you haven’t already.

Depending on the string it shows a slightly lower tension for freshly strung string beds which is what you’d expect. You can also save your readings for strings and racquets and string / racquet combinations, look at measurement history, graphs etc. It was cheap to buy too.

The only frames I had a problem with getting a reading off were a couple of demo ones last winter - a v7 blade with hybrid strings and a Clash with Revolve in it. I think that was a function of the state of those string jobs.

Ive tried a couple of Angels and these worked ok with the app.

I'll try Racquetune, although it's got some terrible reviews on Android.

D1 college using an angell v3. Looks to be 16x19 not sure which model. Probably tc95 with that authority

Saw this video few days ago, didn't noticed that he's using Angell racket until you point it out. Either it doesn't really pop on the video or court contrast or contrasting color with racket string and grip.
