Has anybody got both a TC90 and a Wilson PS90 that they could lay over each other and side-by-side? I'd really like to see how they compare in size.
 
Has anyone tried the tc95, 97, and 100 in the same specs? How do they compare in terms of power, control, spin and forgiveness?

Can't do over each other because I don't have TC90 anymore and my Vantage 90 is at my parents house (different country)

This has been covered before but it’s a long thread & there would be a few disagreements.
I’ve tried them all for at least 2 months of play & Most would say power & spin would be in this order Tc100, TC95, TC97 (personally I didn’t find there was anything significant between them on power I did like the 95 on serve but hit slightly harder groundstrokes with the 97. TC97 definitely has lowest launch angle & spin of the 3.
Control I guess were talking 16x19 patterns so TC100 has least control, I found Tc97 easiest to control just prefer the lower launch angle & tc97 is most stable too. Forgiveness I’d say TC100 has biggest sweet spot & could benefit a beginner/ intermediate level player more than the 95/97.
Frames I tested were 310g unstrung 9 H/L grip A

thank you for the reply. I’ve tried the tc95 16/19 a few years ago. Nice frame. Great serving frame and really solid off the ground as well. I’ve never tried the 97 or 100. I prefer 16/19 string patterns. As I age, I’m looking for something that might have a little more “easy” power. In the past I’ve used prince pog mid, head ig prestige pro and most recently the blade v7 98.

There's no 63RA TC90, only 70. There was (is?) a 63RA version of it from Vantage days, though. I have that and it plays much more to my liking. Still not better than BLX PS90 (I like boxier beams better).

That swingweight is right at the maximum I can handle while still performing as good as possible. Static is a little bit lower than what I usually play with though.

It was a great session on red clay with really nice temperatures. My conclusion so far is that it can hit such a huge ball when you set up for it. When I go for a big shot, I can really feel the flex well which is a nice experience. It has the right amount of power for me in regular rallies and huge power when I set up for it. Same goes for the serve, which gets a little boost when I play with this stick. The swingweight helps of course. I can easily hit all the serve variations.
I get all the spin I would want, while the launch angle is quite high but definitely good enough for me. I do feel like I could use just a little bit more bite from my string setup (but not too much), so the next restring I'm contemplating is between BK 1.28 mains/Element 1.25 crosses or Element Rough 1.30 mains/Element 1.25 crosses.
Haven't played defensive shots too much yet so can't really comment on that at this moment. Backhand slice feels decent but not great so far. I just like tighter string patterns for those shots. Same for volleys and touch shots which are usually the best shots in my arsenal but I'm sure I'll get used to it.

I definitely want to try a better string setup first but signs are positive I'll eventually order a second.

took me a while to dial in slices with the tc 95. Half volleys too.... mostly it was dialing in the strings since that seems to matter a great deal in the frame.

HA! This is insane. I logged on for the first time in a while to ask this exact question, and it's the 1st thing I see.

I asked on FB messenger if they (Angell) have "ways" around it but I got no response, lol.
I've heard of US pro shops sending things to Europe disguised as a gift to avoid customers having to pay double tax. I guess Paul is a good boy.

What Paul will do automatically is report a much lower price of the items in your package, which the customs agents will choose to believe or not. The gift strategy will work more or less the same.

Is it reasonable to say the K7 Red and the Blade v7 are somewhat similar? Since Angells are not demo-able would they be closest in terms of feel, playability & arm friendliness?
And also…what would be comparable to the K7 Lime series? The Ultra?

PTP black 1.25 mains & PT Strike 1.25 black crosses @ 22/21 kg. I usually only use white Supergrap, Kimony or Wilson Pro overgrips but I ordered some black Supergrap specifically for this one. Black strings and black overgrip will look fire with the copper PJ.

Requested 310g/310mm, received 309.89g/309mm/296SW. 16x19 - 63RA - 4 1/4 - black PU - B shape. Grip size indeed feels a tiny bit smaller than most other 1/4's but still fine.

If I love it enough on court, I'll probably order a second one. But also very intrigued by the 18x20 as well as both patterns of the TC97.

Angell pallets are 1/2 to 1 size smaller than everyone elses equivalent in my experience.

No, they are not similar in playability or feel. The red is a more open pattern high launch angle easy to play light racquet. The blade is more controlled string bed but brings in more authority on the ball. Their feel is not alike although they both have flex

After more than a year with ASL2 I realize that I have not post a feedback yet. Mad year and less playing tennis due to covid19 restrictions :confused:
But first impressions were true, I`m still convinced that ASL 2 is a great racket: solid, stable, comfortable, quite powerful but with decent control. It definitely has no weaknesses, it`s a fun to play from the baseline, at the net and to serve with. I can play both defensive and offensive game, drop shots and lobs because I can feel the racket very good and predict the response. It`s the first Angell that I don`t want to customize because everything suits me very well (mass, balance, SW, maneuverability). More pop and more forgiving than my K7 Red which is customized with some lead at 3&9+handle. Love it with low to mid tension (20-21-22 kg) full poly (MSV focus hex 1.23 for example).
So I have only positive words to describe the ASL2, definitely great stick that I can recommend for everyone from 4.0 NTRP to try. Of course there are a lot of more powerful rackets and lots of more control-oriented frames but when you want to mix it all with comfort to suit your game ASL2 would be a very good choice.
 
Trying to decide between the K7 Red and the K7 Cyan…

Any advice?

As no demos are available, is there any approximate comparison to other racquets?

I’d appreciate any thoughts…

I kinda like the copper though... orange is my favorite color. That said the octane is sharp... like the old fischer sticks

Yes it's box beam. It feels very plush and more generous feeling hitting area than TC97 and more flexible. I feel it's easier to use than my TC95 and TC97's but doesn't have the crazy plow through of the TC95 63RA.
 
I am finding that TC100 is the best in couple of areas for my game, out of 25+ racquets in my collection:
- Slice; on both the FH and BH sides
- For playing cat and mouse game against pushers/retrievers (the only other racquet that comes close is Pure Aero)

And it is good in other areas too, and very good in directional control.

Static weight is close to 12 oz and it is V2, 70 RA, with some silicon inside the handle.
 
My buddy just sent my TC101 for RDC since a buddy tried it and liked the setup. The TC101 is rated at 68RA with grommet! This is the copper version. I thought the TC101 was 66RA without grommets? Can the grommets add 2 RA of stiffness?

I can believe that. My TC101 feels stiffer than 66RA and I really struggle to tame its power. Lovely feel and stability, and it can be precise when you're being careful with it, but I find it hard to unleash full swings without sailing long (even using a low power, control setup).

TC101 is a custom frame were the 66 RA is quoted before pallets, grip and stringing. Once added, it should lower RA 3-4pts. SW quality control can vary and you may find some that exceed. If yours measured 68RA strung then it was really way off

16 will give you more durability due to the open pattern. 17 will break quickly if you are string breaker. The K7 Red is a really plush feeling racquet with good spin and comfort. The ball pocketing will be off the charts with the NRG 16. If I were using this setup, I would go with about 56-57lbs because of the very open pattern and I had added a few grams in the hoop when I had mine. It was just a little too low powered for me but really a great racquet and very user-friendly.

Yeah I'm quite shocked. It doesn't play like 68. My SV98s are 67 and they feel quite a bit stiffer, as does the TC100. I suspect either the RDC at the store is under calibrated and off, or the real bad news is Angell QC is crap. I should send it to my usual shop for a RDC test, but Im not that interested enough to pay to know! haha
 
Maybe it's to do with the stiffer throat section of the 101. It doesn't have the uniform flex of the 100. Would that affect the RDC results?
 
I doubt it. If Angell measures it @ 66, then the likely explanations are bad QC or bad RDC machine. I was just curious to see if anyone else has found that with the TC101.

You can contact Pau, give him the serie number placed inside the throat, then he can tell you the RA value they meassured for your frame.

Perhaps the other machine that you got the RA 68 from could be off in calibration, TC201 should be around 62-63 with strings and grip.
 
Totally confused on how to string my TC 95. . . what's a good tension and string?

Right now, it's great for serving. But my groundstrokes go long.

If it's a 16x19, @galapagos did an extensive review of string setups in his thread "ultimate string of choice". Sure you'll find some good tips for your racquet.

Yes thanks for that. Not sure I'm that obsessive about it. Just found it very strange and was curious if this is the norm. I've measured the TC100 and 101 for swingweight, but not the RA.
