The Official Angell Users Club

I'm very curious to meet Angell React. How would you classify ( > and < ) React; TC 100 and TT 100p in terms of Spin; potency; control; confort and feel?
Played with the React yesterday for about an hour with friendly hitting. I have been playing with the TC100 for a while now, but couldn't resist taking the React out for a spin.

WOW I am in love again - this will be the 2nd honeymoon period. I will for sure start to play more with React again. Very easy to go from TC100 to React.

React is so solid both on ground strokes and volley, with very good control. My FH is a bit weaker than with TC100 but my 2HBH and Slice is an improvement with React. Serve is lower powered compared to TC100 but with more precision to hit my spot. Groundstrokes I felt like I had more directional and dept control, but a little less power. Sweetspot seem smaller but more defined compared to TC100. Spin was great also compared to TC100. Comfort was very good, but I think the foam filled TC100 is better, TC100 had RA63 and React RA61 but measured without strings and handle so 3-4 point lower compared to other brands.

I have the Custom React99 18x19

Thanks for the comparison. How much of the difference is down to the 18x19 pattern - do you think the 16x19 MP React would play pretty much the same as the TC100?

Have you matched SW of your both sticks? Power difference might be the reason of different specs IMO.

Yes that could be the case, I was looking for a more control oriented version of TC100 ideally a TC100 18x20 foam filled, just like my TC95 in 2 string patterns. Angell decided to make a new line, I think it is easier to control the spec without the foam filling. Right now it is outdoor season and TC100 shines on clay, but React might be better indoor on hard Court.

Very good! Given this feedback, how would you compare Angell React MPP to Prince textreme tour 100p? Going further, would it be possible to compare them with Head Speed?

Review React 96

-> React 96 16x19 310g / 310 hl strung with poly tour pro 125 yellow 50lbs. In the review I will cite comparisons with my Tc95 16x19 310g / 310 hl / 307 sw, also strung with yonex poly tour pro 125 yellow with 50 lbs. All the quoted specifications of the rackets are unstrung.

1) Power

The racket is clearly less powerful than the tc95. It has an overall low power profile. Power also lower than k7 red;

2) Control

Clearly more accurate and greater control compared to tc95 and k7 red. Launch angle very close to the tc95, however executing a ball with more spin or straight is much easier to perform react 96 due to its handling;

3) Maneuverability

Much, much better than. Tc95, the difference is remarkable. Very fast and manageable at the net, very easy to execute volleys that require quick reflexes. I believe that 90% due to the lower sw and 10% due to the aerodynamic characteristics of the react 96. I do not believe that if there is a tc95 with sw close to the react, the tc95 would have the same handling;

4) Stability

Extremely stable for the reported sw value (288 sw without string). Extremely solid in volleys and in hitting heavy balls, whether serves or more aggressive ground balls. Very close to the stability of the t95, even mine having 307 sw.

5) Feel

It has a much closer feel to the tc95 than the k7 line. I'd say it has 90% feel similarity to the tc95. The main difference is that in balls outside sweetspot the feel of the react is less muffled and clearer. But I felt that the react has less torsion in the head and less flexion in the throat than the tc95. The tc95 flexes more and the head area twists more.

6) Comfort

Very comfortable racket, I didn't feel any discomfort in my arm. The comfort level is in line with the comfort level of the tc95. But the tc95 is slightly more comfortable outside the sweetspot. I think it's more of an impression related to the feel outside the sweetspot, which leads to this impression.

Overall the react 96 achieved the goal of being a more manageable tc95, keeping the same ball behavior DNA present in the tc95. If you are looking for a more manageable tc95, the react 96 16x19 can be an excellent option.

I've been playing some more with my React MPP and what really stands out is how fast but solid it is at the net. I'm plying volleys like never before. All kinds of volleys - drop shot volleys, put away volleys and normal volleys.

I added 1 g lead on each side of 3 and 9, as well as a leather grip, making it 312 g and roughly the same balance. The racquet reminds me of the 1st gen Gravity Pro I played with 2 years ago. Solid and forgiving, but the React is much more manoeuvrable. Maybe a tad less stable than the GP. Also muuuuch more manoeuvrable than TC97 and muuuch more stable. When adding the weights and also a dampener, that I didn't have with the TC97, the specs are quite close to both GP and TC96, but the feel how easy and stable it swings is remarkably different.

I think I am geting some more power on my serve than the TC97 16x19.

I think i am saying all this even though the honeymoon is over.

Hi Paulo, may I ask if the beam cross section of the React 96 Mid is thicker (Angell listed at 21-22mm) than the TC95 (20mm)? Thank you!

sorry if this question has been asked, but has anyone played both the auxetic prestige pro(or 360+ mp) and the k7 lime? I was wondering how they compare in terms of power and comfort

Very hard to beat the Lime for comfort, but it a low powered frame. Check out Tennisnerd.

I ordered my seconds React and it came in at 294 SW. Me first one came in at 291 but i added 1.5 g on each side of 3 and 9, a total addition of 3 g.

How would you match the racquets in the best way? I want the stability of 3 and 9. Should I add 2 g instead of 3 g on the second racquet and feel done like that? That should mean 297 vs 298 SW.

Hello, I just ordered my first Angell racket - TC100, RA 70, 305/320. I am switching from a Pure Aero 2016, I expect the power to be much lower but hopefully it will be a more comfortable racket. Can anyone give me an idea of the power level to expect ? I'm thinking it might be like a 100" Blade ?

(Insert sweat bead laughing emoji) you may find it more powerful than the PA - but more comfortable too.

If you were worried about losing power don't be!

I have owned the TC95, TC97, TC100 and K7 Red. All 16x19. I am thinking of switching from the TC95 to the React MP Pro 99. Which of the Angell rackets I played with are similar to the React MP Pro 99? Would Angell customize the Pro 99 to heavier specs? Which strings played well in the Pro 99?

I have an interesting question for you guys. If anyone took a look inside the handle to see Angell's custom frame weight system, do you remember where the weight was placed?
ideally for the frame that was customized to be around 320g and 310mm - 305mm balance? :)
Hi! I have 6 TC95s and I took the pallets off in most (if not all) of them. For some reason Paul always has one of the weights in the upper slot (below the throat) and then the rest goes in the bottom slots to get to the desired balance.

I noticed a link on the Angell website where one can customize the React frames. I was wondering about the power level compared to the frames I tried.

Q for those who have played with the TC95 and TC100; is the TC95 easier to swing through with its smaller headsize?
Depends on the swingweight. The TC series strung swingweight can vary from less than 320 to 340. In general, a smaller head size will swing easier but have less power and a smaller sweetspot.

Anyone have any experience with the current TC10 and ASi Racket bags? Hard to tell from website what the actual differences are between the models.
PS If anyone in the UK would like to sell either of these then shoot me a message.

I just received my TC97's 18x20 320g (the black/silver color) and played a few hours with them. Great rackets with a lot of control, nice feel and just enough power!

My go to racket the past few years has been the Yonex VCP100 300g leaded up to 335gram strung with OG. Also a nice (more forgiving) racket which I use with Solinco Hyper G 1,25mm at 21/20 kilo. I bought the TC97 because I want to work on my technique with a heavier racket and I like a smaller head with my OHB. The TC97 is 345 gram strung without lead.

I love Hyper G in the VCP but....I don't like it in the TC97... Too stiff, probably because the smaller head and the 18x20. Any recommendations for a better -and not too expensive - relatively soft copoly (full bed) that works well at low tensions in the TC97?

And.....does anybody now if the black/silver color is a V2...?
I strung my recently acquired TC97 18x20 (V4) with Tecnifibre Black Code 4s 1.20mm at 48/48lbs. It was meant to be the first of several strings I have ready to test in this frame but it plays so nicely it's still in there... Black Code 4S is square but the edges aren't overly sharp and it's quite soft, seems to work well in this frame.

I've been searching for the perfect racket for a while now and like several others I've been eagerly awaiting feedback on the React RC MPP (99" 18x19). I currently have an ASi 2.0, TC100 16x19 63RA and a TC97 18x20. I like all 3 but the ASi maxes out at grip 3 (I'm a grip 5) so even a bit of extra weight building up the grip either makes it too head light or if I balance it by adding weight elsewhere it pushes the static weight above my comfort zone. I loved the TC100 at first and have tried several string/tension combos and tweaked the weight/balance but the power level is a tad too high and when I get tired and technique falters I start spraying balls long. The TC97 is the one that I keep coming back to, I didn't think the 18x20 string pattern would suit me but I still get decent top spin and like the extra consistency it offers, the power level seems to be just right and it feels like it cuts through the air very smoothly on my OHBH. I've been looking back through this thread and am curious if anyone has direct experience comparing the TC97 18x20 to the React RC MPP (18x19)? I'm a recreational/club player in my 40s, the idea of using a 97" put me off at first after previously using an Ezone 100 and Vcore 98 but I found the TC97 quite user friendly. The idea of going down to a 96" fills me with dread but I don't really want the power level of the TC100. Common sense tells me to stick with the TC97 but a slightly larger sweet spot would be nice and the React frames look sooo nice...on paper the RC MPP should be perfect but any further feedback is welcome.

Hi all,

Trying to dial in a K7 Red that I picked up.

I usually play with a Pure Strike 100 3rd gen. with either Tier 1 Black Knight or Grapplesnake Tour Sniper at 50lbs. When I strung the K7 the same way the result felt very "launchy" and a bit hard to control. I'm thinking that I'm not used to the greater launch angle and am considering one of two solutions: Switch to a multifilament strung higher (55lbs?), or sticking with the poly and just stringing higher.

Would love any input or suggestions.

Thanks.

Can compare the 99 with prince phanthom 100x 305? I mean in stability, power, control, spin and the most important Confort? Thanks very much

I know most here are racquetholics and this is generally not a problem for anyone - but do you think there is a lifespan to Angell racquets (or racquets in general) where you would look to replace them after using them for a period of time, ie 5-10 years?

Probably not. My TC 95 16x19s are from 2018 and still playing well. I replaced the grommets last year. 18x20 versions are from 2019 and still original. In general, the grommets are the "soft spot" of this model.

Just strung my React MPP 99 (18x19) with Head Velocity for the first time.
Instructions for 1 Piece say 38'(9' SS) - If you use 9' SS you are going to come up short - I suggest 36' (10'SS) is more accurate.
Not tried 2 Piece yet.

Edit: For 2 Piece (for a multi) 20' mains, 18' crosses

TC line, K7 line and React are very comfortable racquets, Angell unlike other brands meassure RA with out strings and pallets, so the MPP 99 is like 57-58 in RA compared to the Prince.

Unfortunately the TC97 18x20 is hurting my elbow...(I can feel the vibrations, esspecially on off center hits).

Atm the racket is strung with a full bed of a very soft poly (MSV Focus Hex Plus) @22/21 kilo with an O-dampener.

Question: what is the best way to reduce the vibrations and the impact on my elbow with this specific frame?

Anyone experience with a full bed of synthetic gut (nylon) or a hybrid with synthetic gut in the TC97 18x20?

Would a full bed of poly at very low tensions (18/17 f.e.) reduce the impact and vibrations?

I hope I can keep playing with this frame because I like it very much! (don't want to play with a Clash...)

PS I have to work on my technique too, often start pushing when I'm tired / have bad preparation

Lower tension reduces the impact, but the vibration is another thing.

Some years ago a few TC- series players here complained about vibrations. It seems that some of us feel them, some don't, and if you do, you can try to add lead tape etc., but it may not help.

Definitely try low tension poly. I have strung my PT2.0’s with 16kg, some of them are now around 13kg and it plays awesome. Because the tc97 18/20 is also very tight, the string bed will never become too unpredictable.

You can change the grip to Wilson Shock Shield that will do some good, you can go lower in tension as the string bed is very dense, also you can try hybrid with a multi like velocity in the cross.

Thanks Very Much, What About Stabilit And spin compared to 100x? K7 and 99? Thank You Very Much For Your House

Grip change will also change the balance so will start with full poly @18/17. If that doesn't help I will try a hybrid with SG and after that a full bed of SG. Hopefully that will help enough. Grip is the last change on the try out list Thanks for the tips!

Yes Shock Shield will change the balance but not the SW (or very little)

sorry to hear that.

I have my tc97 18 w gut poly and it's one of my go-to racquets when I'm feeling arm pain.

That said...18m racquets often have a very small sweet spot. This racquet regardless of specs has a sneaky high SW.

What are the other racquets you usually play with?

And this racquet doesn't forgive if you don't prep. If you are also hitting late which this racquet could make you do due to the higher SW, it will punish the arm.

I have 2 TC97's 18x20 and kept my Yonex VCP100 because that one always works for me (customized to 335g strung and 332SW).

The TC97's are 343 strung. Don't know the SW but should be close to the VCP

When I prepare on time and let the racket do the work (and have clean hits), I don't have issues. But indeed...when I'm late it hurts.

Do you have gut in the mains or in the crosses? And which tension do you use for the mains and the crosses?
