Do you know the weight of a Shock Shield Grip? (compared to leather)

It can actually be heavier than leather, here is a good thread:

I ordered my Angells with leather and replaced the grip with shock shield for added comfort.

Mmm, hard to find this grip in Europe... Any comparable alternatives that you know?

I have 2 TC97's 18x20 and kept my Yonex VCP100 because that one always works for me (customized to 335g strung and 332SW).

The TC97's are 343 strung. Don't know the SW but should be close to the VCP

When I prepare on time and let the racket do the work (and have clean hits), I don't have issues. But indeed...when I'm late it hurts.

Do you have gut in the mains or in the crosses? And which tension do you use for the mains and the crosses?
I wouldn't be surprised if the SW of the TC97 is 340+

gut mains. IIRC it is 46/43

You can also try adding some weight at 3 and 9 and at 7in at the top of the handle. This type of weight distribution should make your 18x20 even more stable with more plow thru and recoil weight.

Also, really focus on truly watching the ball into contact. I've been playing 20 years and still don't watch the ball well, and always notice an immediate difference in "cleanliness of contact" when I force myself to watch the ball

Wilson website says "Length designed specifically for padel rackets" so probably too short. But thx for the tip! (found other replacement grips with gel from Tourna, Babolat and Gamma, will try one of those)

Hi guys, considering trying Angell. Could you tell me if there are significant changes between the versions of each racquet, or just different paintjobs? Since you can't demo, I was considering buying used first to see if I like it. Thanks!

Just paint jobs, but more precise spec in later versions.

Definitely recommend buying used in a spec close to what you think you want. Then, you can make a list of the tiny tweaks you'll know you want in your first brand new fully custom choice!

Thanks, I found it.

Anyway on the topic of Angell racquets, I currently own a K7 Lime. I have also owned a K7 Red and a TC97 (can't remember the specs)
Loved all of them and wish I didn't get rid of the last 2.

If it didn't cost so much to ship to Australia I would definitely own more!

I have recently bought a second hand TC97 in very good condition and at a bargain of a price. I ve searched over their website but the dont sell grommets for this gen, is there a chance I can find grommets from another source?

Just got my 3 React 99 MP custom today. Stringing will have to wait until next week though.

Specs : 99 MP 16x19 27in 300g 31,5 cm Grip B size 2
How it feels? Can you compare with some ezone 100 or prince phanthom 100x? Or with what? Does it feels solid with 300 and 21beam? Thanks all

So my elbow keeps hurting with the TC97 unfortunately so have to save my arm and switch to the most comfy option available. Which Angell frame would be the most comfortable? K7 or is the new React also a good option? Important for me is that the racket doesn't vibrate after off center hits, that's the issue with the TC97 atm. Don't want to play with a Clash but alternatives would be a Pro Kennex or a Yonex Vcore 98/95 but prefer to stay with Angell. Love the TC97 18x20 320 in every other aspect.

In my experience (K7 Red, K7 Lime, K7 Cyan, TC95 63RA, TC100 63RA and 70RA, TC97, etc.) the most comfortable one is the K7Red, then the K7Lime.

The K7 Red and Lime have the same mold and lay up, right? (only a difference in string pattern and weight) Or are there more differences?

At present I prefer the K7 Cyan, slightly more powerful. After using some TCs for years I went to the Red, then the Lime and now the Cyan.
If I was in perfect shape I would choose the Lime, but age muscles and joints
Mmm interesting, maybe not a bad idea for myself ;-) Is the Cyan just as comfortable?

Take the K7 red. Most comfy frame ever. My buddy has bad tennis elbow and teied everything. He is playin his best tennis with the k7 red. And no elbow problems even woth poly. Love aramid!
Tak the lime if you like 18x20 patterns

Thx! Just ordered a K7 Lime via a local market place :) (closer to my preferred specs than the Red, very curious how it will play)

Tried the TC97 yesterday with a thick gel replacement grip instead of leather and that really seems to help to reduce the impact on my elbow so I will not give up on the TC97 yet.

Will also try the TC97 with a full bed of Babolat syn gut instead of a soft shaped poly (MSV Focus Hex Plus) though I think I will lose too much net clearance given the thight 18X20 pattern.

I got elbow problems after playing with TC97 18 x 20 strung up with MSV Focus Hex. I have been trying out both Babolat Syn Gut and Head Velocity. Babolat Syn Gut is somewhat softer on the arm (both are better than poly), but I prefer Head Velocity for control. I haven't got any issues with net clearance with either. Interesting to hear your experience with changing out the leather grip!

Good luck!

What tension did you string Focus Hex? (I use Focus Hex Plus - which is much softer than regular Hex - at 22/21 but will try 18/17 next time). But will try syn gut first at 22/21.

Changing the leather grip for something with gel really is a good idea (check the weight, some are very close to leather). Of course you will lose some feel but that doesn't bother me t.b.h.

I would recommend trying Volkl V-square 1.10mm in a full bed at around 46lbs. I have it in a Prince Textreme Tour 100P and it's plush, gives ample power and loads of bite/spin. I also have a TC97 18x20 currently strung with Technifibre 4S 1.20. It's ok but I'll be restringing it with v-square too. I was recently planning to switch to the TC97, practice sessions and playing with my usual hitting partners was fine but I recently played a doubles match against a stronger pair and immediately felt how much the smaller sweet spot was punishing me so switched back. The Prince Textreme Tour 100P surprised me with it's blend of power/control/stability. It feels like a real Goldilocks setup with the V-square. On paper the specs are very similar to the React MP Pro 99 so I'm even more keen to get my hands on one. I also had a similar experience with grips, I was using the Angell semi-synthetic, it's nice but quite firm, I switched to softer gel grip and it feels much nicer on the hand/wrist.

I like Focus Hex the most at 22 kg (48 lbs), but it worked well down to 19 kg (42 lbs). Haven't tried to go lower than that. I have also tried Focus Hex Ultra at those tensions. It is a bit softer, but I prefer the standard Focus Hex. I wouldn't be afraid of trying out poly's at lower tensions, even the soft ones!

I string Head Velocity and Babolat Syn Gut at 24.5 kg (54 lbs), but I think using them at lower tension in a 18 x 20 will work fine. You can also try a thinner string, but I generally like thicker strings at lower tension than thinner strings at higher tension. I string myself on a lock-out machine (gives a little lower tension than an electronic machine).

I will consider changing the leather grip if my elbow doesn't heal soon. I just like the feel I get from using the leather grip and Tourna overgrip combination so much...

Been awhile since I spent money on a racquet I don't actually need so of course I ordered a React MPP Custom this week :-D

27.25" length
305g
310mm balance
L3 Grip B
Blue PU Grip

Honestly, a little bit of me hopes I hate it so I don't have to spend money buying a second one.......

Bit of an odd question…can anyone comment on the differences…and similarities…between the K7 Cyan and a Custom TC V4 100?…
I’ve hit with the Cyan but have no access to a TC V4 100 and wonder if the differences are substantial and, if so, how exactly…thanks in advance…

No. What are your impressions about MPP? I believe you ordered one.
I got a custom 99 18x19 in 27.25. Overall, a good racquet, more control oriented and has a nice feel to it. I have it listed for sale as it's not a keeper for me. Just not a good fit, I am not really an 18x19 or 20 person. I like 16x20 or tighter center 16x19.

Damn how’d I miss that listing?! Think I ordered the same spec as yours
