@Trip got me thinking about the TC99 (18 x 19) or the React MPP 99 (18 x 19) a fair bit. I am interested in both. Currently I float between a PAVS and a Dunlop CX 200+. I enjoy the CX 200+ but it has been discontinued. I have been trying to find out if the CX 200+ is foam filled in the hoop but can't find that information. This might be a longshot but has anyone on here ever played a CX 200+? If so, where would you lean towards - TC99 or React MPP 18 x 19? I understand that the CX 200+ is a 16 x 19 but I still find it has a low launch due to the tighter pattern in the middle and I like that.
I am also still very interested to hear from people that have played with the TC99 and a comparison with the React99. To your point of the 18/19 string pattern: I dont know how the drill pattern in your cx200+ is but I found the pattern of the React99 to be super versatile. Best thing about the frame in my opinion! Easy to grip the ball and creat hight but very controlled on flat shots and all in all just very balanced in terms of launch angle.

I still play to this day with CX 2.0+ (predecessor to 200+). It is a much more aggressive racquet than React 99. It has more bite, more power, more stability, and comparable feel. React is nimbler, and will only be an advantage in doubles or at the net. In heavy hitting, it bends.
I have not tried TC99. If it is heavier ( plus extended length ) - it may address the relative weakness of React.

It's a fine racquet, nothing earth shattering but certainly worth a look. I'd describe it as a player's Comfort frame. It's a tad more dampened and gives less power and spin that a K7 Red for example, but it's stable enough to handle against heavy balls coming at you and absorbs enough of the shock to feel soft on the arm. I wrote some more thoughts on it earlier in this thread too and stand by that even after the extended period with the frame!

Can anyone describe the difference between a TC99 and a TC97? I have experience with the latter, 330 grams and 12 points head light, it’s quit a while ago..

I played with the TC97 18x20 (27 inch 330 grams 12pts HL 300 sw) and recently I switched to the TC99 (27.25 inch 325 grams 10pts HL 305 sw).

Both racquets have very good control but the TC99 is just a little more forgiving and more powerful than the TC97.

However the feel of the flex is most different detail between these two frames. The higher stiffness (67RA) of the TC97 feels a little bit firmer than the TC99.
I prefer the softer RA 64 flex that has a nicer touch/feel in my opinion.

Pretty different I’d say. The M99 is far more powerful, crisper response, allows more spin, but slower through the air and a bit harsher on the wrist.
The KSeven 98 is softer in terms of feel, more muted, more maneuverable, equal on stability, but with the same string and same tension doesn’t have that stopping power the M99 gives you. Each racquet gives you the confidence to really go for shots though which is a plus on both ends!

I've been switching between the Angell react MPP 18x19 and the Prince tour 98 over the last few weeks.

They feel very similar on contact (comfort and sensation).

I've got both strung with head Velocity MLT at 52lbs (my off season string) and they play really well. I'm sure they will only play even better once I get Poly Tour Pro in them.

@TBM - Between the ATS 98 and React MP Pro, can you compare:

- Precision Level - Which one offers more, and what others racquets can you liken them to?

- Real-World Stiffness - I know the MPP and ATS are listed at a 61 and 62 RA respectively, but I've heard the MPP plays more firm than that, and the ATS potentially so. What's your take?

- Flex Profile - Where/how does each frame bend on impact (ex: is it a single, continuous flex like a Prestige, a flexy neck but firmer hoop like a Percept or Strike, etc.?)

Thanks in advance!

Interesting that you find React and Prince AST 98 to be similar. I play with React MPP 18x19 and Prince Tour ATS 100P 18x20 and they feel completely different.

Precision- The Angell MPP is more precise than the Tour 98. It's nothing major, but the Tour 98 has a few random launches from time to time.

The MPP is similar in playability to a Head Speed pro but in a more manoeuvrable package.

The Tour 98 has similar playability to the Artengo TR960 control tour (with weight at 3 and 9), but they feel different on contact. The Artengo feels noticeably stiffer and less stable.

Real world stiffness/ flex profile-

Angell MPP- feels around 62 strung stiffness. It does not have a really pronounced flexing feeling like some low RA frames, but it doesn't feel mid 60s like mentioned in the tennisnerd review. It's not as crisp as the Prestige MP-L you used to play with.

There is an "airy" plushness that both frames share that makes them comparable in feeling to me.

Tour 98- This frame has a more noticeable flex on contact. I'd say it feels a few RA points lower than the Angell. I can't pinpoint where it's flexing, but I can sense that it pockets the ball more.

Overall comfort- I have a highly sensitive shoulder, and neither of these frames are remotely stiff, jarring or uncomfortable.

I remember that you previously mentioned that you prefer crisp rackets, which I'd suggest neither of these frames are. The MPP with a stiffer string may get closer to that type of feel.

I need to play with both of them more to make a solid conclusion. They are both really nice frames that do just about everything well. I still think the Head Speed Pro 2022 has an edge on overall performance though.

@TBM - Great answers and overall summary. Thank you!
@Trip I see you play TT100P, I play the 2015 version and now the new ATS100P version, also played the ATS98 but sold it due to too high SW. The 98 and 100P was quite similar in feel and power, but I played better with the 100P.

In my hands React MPP 18x19 (I have the custom 310/310) plays very different to my Prince 100P or the 98. I want so much to like my React Custom 99 18x19 but cant seem to find the right string setup for that frame. I am not giving up and @TBM post above make me want to give it another try as I have 3 mtched frames.

For your reference my prefered Angells (I have a lot of different models and setups) are my TC100 as the great serve stick and the K7 Lime for ground strokes. Sometimes in doubles I play TC100 for my serve game, and K7 Lime for the 3 other games.

As a compromize I play Prince ATS 100P as my main stick, best allround frame, I carry both TC100 and Lime in my bag.

I had really high hope that React 99 18x19 could bridge TC100 and K7 Lime, and I would finally have found my perfect frame.

I hope that the React in your hands will be a better match.

I'm also trying to dial in a string for the React MPP 99 and like you am really trying to like this frame. My most recent trial was MSV Focux Hex Ultra 1.10mm @52lbs. This is a rather lively string and the thinner gauge increased the launch angle and dropped the swing weight to 321 (static weight 324g, 8 Pts HL). The impact sound is odd, it makes more of a ping sound rather than a thump. I like it so far but need to spend more time with it. I also have a Prince Textreme Tour 100P 2022 model (with the ugly white/black/orange/teal paint job) which i've used on and off, what string/tension do you use in yours? I've tried quite a few, my favourite was probably Weiss Canon Fire Stroke, felt good for the first few hours but died quite quickly. In general this frame is a bit too low powered for me, i'm not sure how the 2022 compares to the previous versions though. I recently got hold of a coveted Ezone DR 98 and all I can say is the legends are true, this is an awesome frame, it just does everything well for me, it really does seem to have some secret sauce, I can see why it's still so popular.

Due to arm problems in the past, I use mostly multi strings these days. X-One being one of my favorites, I string ATS 100P at 22-23kg. When I use Poly I string around 20kg, I dont find the Prince to be string sensitive,

Do you feel that React is more powerfull that Prince 100P ?

Prince TT100P (2015) is very close to ATS100P (2022) while TT100P (2019) has a higher RA, a different feel and powerful.

I've tried Mutli-feel and Velcoity MLT in the 100P in various combos/tensions, it felt OK from what I can recall but I missed the extra spin you get from a shaped poly. IME the React is more powerful than the 100P, expecially with the Focus Hex Ultra, I will try the regular Focus Hex and the soft version, will also try Volkl Cyclone 1.10mm. Based on what you've said the 2019 TT100P might be a better fit for me.

I know this is subjective and the answer is probably in this thread somewhere but I haven't run across it yet. Any real difference from V3 TC100 to the current V5 TC100? 310g\315mm and 64RA. Kinda want to get new ones just to get new ones LoL.

V3, V4 and V5 is just different paintjob for a great frame, no need to change anything.

Would still love to see a TC100 18x20

I do not have any V5 yet, but on TC97 there is a noticeable difference between V2,V3 -> V4. Swingweight went down from 334 -> 328 ( for my preferred configuration 320/310 ).

One of the great benefits of custom TC racquets is that you can order the same spec including swingweight. You just give Paul the number of your old racquet and he will match the new version.

How does the head size width (from 3 to 9) of TC97/react99 compare to the width of TC100/TC101? When comparing for example the blade 98 to blade 100 the head gets wider. But when I compare tc97 to react99, the head gets “longer” rather than wider. Is the tc100 also longer?

I’m looking for a wider frame than tc97 and react99.

The answer is in post #27.030 page 541

Short answer is that React 99 and TC100 are identical in headsize, 99 vs 100 is just a way to separate the different Lines.

What will be the estimated SW of a react 99, 10 points headlight, 320 grams? Does anyone have experience with how this frame plays? I like the string pattern option of 18/19..! But isn’t very flexible? Hoe does it compare to the 96?

hey, I played the react99 for the last year 315g 315mm balance, I dont know the SW and added lead anyways.
They are very flexible but in a bit of a unique way i think. On medium/slow shots it feels quite responsive (many people in this thread wrote that its firmer than the RA would suggest and I think thats true for most players) but on really fast shots the low flex definately was noticable and ultimately for me the reason I want to change. For referance, I am talking about the shot speed of D1 college where the flex starts to feel very low in a way that it feels like the racket drains some power out of the shot (I have tryed to discribe it in the thread above).

I cant compare it to the 96 but have played other angell frames if that helps as referance. I would also like to sell mine in case you or somebody else is interested.. I will most likely move to the tc99 or maybe try the pure aero 98 first.

That SW seems off unless you ordered a higher SW or added lead. React line has lower SW than TC line as it is not foam filled.

My 3 React Custom MPP 99 310 / 310 all have SW between 287 and 288

Angell has SW 288 for MPP 99 on their website.

I was surprised as well seeing these numbers. Extended length option was my first guess.

It's standard length, so that does not explain the higher SW. I got the frame from a guy here in the Netherlands, who did not seem very knowledgeable about racquets, so I don't think he put lead under the bumper guard. I guess it's just a heavier specimen.

Could be the calibration of the SW machine is off, Angell has a very high QC. The original buyer could have the racquet costimized by a store or something.

Not all angells have tight qc or correct specs published, the cyan xl's were 10-15 sw points higher than listed, a few here and tennis nerd had that with the cyans. Also angell is under impression 1gr of lead at 12' is 6sw points, rather than the correct 3sw points. Most of their line is tight and amazing.
