The Official Angell Users Club

Thank you all for the replies. I think it came with the synthetic base grip. I will have a look at it when I get home. I was just thinking that Angell would get base molds and then add weight according to the custom spec of the customer. Hence the lead weight under the pallet. My current SW is fine, no need for much tweaking there tbh. I guess I have the V2, black with the grey and silver at the 3 and 9 position.

Is there somebody who had switched from the TC97 18x20 to the TC99? I absolutely loved the TC97 18x20 over the last years, from V2 to new V5 version. But, as 50+ year old, it is getting harder to play always my A game. So, I thought of getting some help from the racket. I tested the TC101, which felt from the first shot equally but more powerful. Honestly too powerful. Next was the TC99 18x19. Unfortunately the racket feels completely different and I'm always putting the racket away after 10 shots. Any idea to "tune" the TC99 to minimize the differences a little bit?

Received my TC99s, going to string them today and try them in a couple of days (if the weather will be okay).
I was surprised that the balance difference is 2-3mm and I guess that it will be noticeable. Weight and swingweight are aligned.

By the way, maybe somebody knows ChrisG in person - he is a member of this community.

I have sent him my TC95 frame and we pre agreed that he will pay after he receives it (typically I trust other members of communities like this one).
However, a couple of months have passed and he just disappeared.
I think it will be a lesson to learn.

Sucks that you got scammed like that. I never do the pay on receipt....too risky. If they can't pay up front, no deal!

To be fair, I have suggested that he can pay after receiving the frame. I trust community members, especially if I see their posts and communication frequently and for a couple of years.
My assumption is that being a reputable member of such a great community is more valuable than gaining a used frame for free.

That is interesting! Are the updates becoming more frequent with Angell? I remember earlier changes only happened every 3 years or so

There might be business reasons - new models shall increase sales. And I'm pretty sure that brexit did not helped with sales. Maybe this is the reason for shorter life cycle of models. Not sure, just guessing.

Yeah, you have a point. Price for an Angell custom to the US is now over $300 with shipping. It used to be around $220 delivered.

I think they’ve been teasing a new K7 Red for a bit, wonder if they’ll do away with Hotmelt on the TC line or if they’ll keep it going. Never had a good chance to try the V5 line to see if that really made noticeable differences over my personal fav V3

I have made that switch. Loved the TC97 18x20, but it delivers an extremely flat ball with a very low launch angle, which makes it hard to consistently clear the net and keep a good shot length once fatigue settles in. I find the TC99 far more forgiving over the length of a match. But yes, the slightly larger head and more open pattern makes for a higher launch angle than the TC97. That, together with feel, can be amended by your string selection. A string that's a good match for the very tight 18x20 pattern of the TC97 is unlikely to match the far more open 18x19 pattern of the TC99.

In my case it was 200 Eur per frame (price after significant discount + customs). Without discount it would be expensive.

Totally agree - V3 design is the best one. I still have a 4 of these wonderful frames, just need to send a few for repair.

Do you send emails directly to Paul? He is responding within a week or two. Re-sending/re-asking helped in my case.
And they are more responsive on Messenger, typically they reply same day.

Played 4 sets yesterday with my new TC99s.

Long story short - I hate myself that I waited so long to buy these frames.

Strung both sticks with strings I'm familiar with:
-- Grapplesnake Tour M8 (usual tension I was using on TC100s);
-- Grapplesnake Tour Sniper / Alpha (dropped tension -0,5 kg from usual one).
Lower tension worked better in my case.

Adjustment to new specs (310g/320mm/296sw) was quite quick as I have had a TC100 with similar specs earlier (a few years ago). I love how naturally 310g/320mm swings for me (however, TC100 was way too wild with these specs).

Compared to TC100 with the same specs - directional control is way better. Moreover, I can control depth better as well. Shots are less loopy of course, but the amount of spin is very good and I have the choice to flatten my ball or hit it with spin. With TC100 I was not able to hit flat shots and always had to add as much spin as possible to keep the ball inside the court.

Slices are better/lower as well, but I rarely use this shot.

I have not noticed any noticeable difference in the size of the sweet spot.

The only struggle was finding T serve. But my ball toss was really bad yesterday and I was serving against the bright sun. So, I'm not sure about this issue yet.

And possibly an increase of SW in the future will be considered.

Asked competitors for the feedback - all commented that incoming pace was really good as well as spin.

And finally - I see that TC99 will not be a string killer (as TC100 is).

Yes, don’t disagree, nevertheless price has jumped quite a bit for us in the US.

Well, just wait until the current inventories are exhausted, and the racquets in the US get the additional tariff of 30% just negotiated with China, or 15% for the case of Yonex made in Japan.

Sale on right now it looks like because "Big changes are coming"

40% off Custom and React with HOTDEAL

Just picked up a TC99 that i've been pondering for a while :X3:

Seems like too good a deal to pass up and I might have to therefore solicit the experts for some advice:

I’ve been going back and forth between an aero 98 and a speed MP 2024, both of which I play with gut/poly to keep my wrist happy:

What I like about the speed: super comfortable, confident swinging out, don’t miss a lot of ground strokes. What I don’t: not enough power with it to hit clean winners, serves have always been a bit anemic.

What I like about the Aero 98: power galore, fun to play with. What I don’t: at least with gut/poly, it can be a little too powerful if I’m not super clean and for some reason I don’t love kick serves with it.

I have more fun with the Aero, win more with the speed.

Anyone with an opinion on what might fall somewhere nicely in between? I was thinking the TC 99 just for something different, but would love some opinions!

The TC99 is probably the most well rounded frame of their catalogue at this stage in terms of tolerance, power, control. Plus it's very comfortable. You can probably dial one in to your exact preferences given the customization options, if you know what you're after for static weight / balance / swing weight.

I haven't hit the TC99, but the React 99 I think fits your description nicely.

Can you elaborate on why you say “they’ve been teasing a new K7 Red for a bit”? Thanks!…

Back in May on the email with the subject "Drop Alert | New Apparel and Accessories", at the bottom of the email was a little graphic with a K7 frame all in Red with the caption "REDy?"

No, but I would love to, but no demo program. I have too many Angell frames already TC95 16M and 18M, TC100, React 18x19, ASI 2.0 and Lime. Favorite is Lime and then TC100.
The lime looked great, and the new one seems like it could be a nice combination of specs, but nobody aside from one or two people on talk tennis appears to have tried one.

Had a pretty fun outing with TC100 V2.
Now I am almost tempted to setup one of the TC95 V2 or V3 to go with it.
I reckon the V3 has a great PJ.

I noticed from the Custom V5 series only the TC95 16x19, TC97 18x20 and TC100 71RA are still available.
When will they release V6?

So pretty much aligning to the industry with control, spin and power silos?
