I'm ordering a TC100 for my gf. She wants something like the Pure Aero+ but without the stiffness.

So I am gonna order a 27.5in, 300g, 320mm as it closely matches the PA+.

But I'm really not sure about stiffness. Anyone can chime in with pros/cons of 70ra vs 63ra for her? She's a 3.5player, she hits as hard as many guys but obviously lacks consistency. I'm currently thinking that 70ra would be best for her, I'm just not sure if it's gonna be arm friendly...

The RA63 is really only for those who already like sub 60 RA frames... the 70Ra is like a 64 anyways... not exactly stiff.

I have read this entire thread. I am intrigued by all the positive feedback. I was going to demo the Prince Textreme 95
but I prefer the traditional flexy sticks as played for many years with Prestiges before the YT. Any further thoughts about purchasing the 16X19 vs 18X20. I hit with some spin but not heavy topspin and often will flatten the ball out. Furthermore, I have had elbow issues so usually string with full gut. Would I have difficulty taming the 16X19. Those who have played with both I welcome your input. Is the 97 a bit more flexible?
Thanks in advance.

I have both TC95 and 100 in 70RA. They are really around 64RA strung. Super comfy so no worries.

Are any of you Angell owners able to compare them with a Volkl Powerbridge 10 Mid? I'm looking at either a TC95 (70RA 16x19) or TC97 - I like the muted feel of the Volkl range but would like a little more stiffness and power than the PB10M offers. Also it seems like these Angell racquets should appeal to the same audience as the PB10M but they never get mentioned together, any reason?

I have a becker london tour mid which is basically a more flexy 10 volkl mid.

The tc95 in the most flexible version is a viable option as it is muted and flexes nicely on serves letting you carve the ball (which you have to do with a v 10 mid). Different and has more power to be sure but it has that super solid and muted european style frame characteristic (pre babolat). I have no idea why Volkl has gone stiff like other companies?

Also look at the pacific pro no.1

Did you buy one from "tinyman" that he posted the strung weights of (2) TC95s at 300 grams each? I don't understand how his 2 TC95's were 300 grams strung, when the lowest unstrung weight for a TC95 is 295 grams? He also said it had silicone and leadtape inside the pallet.
Doesn't make sense.

I went through this back and forth for a while as I really like both. In the end I have chosen 16x19 for a few reasons. The main was I played 4.5 singles and was absolutely sucking with my graphene MP. I realized over the course of a few matches that it was not the frame, it was just my style. I needed that net clearance of the more open pattern and I needed the extra bite for my serves. This really helps on a 95 size frame. It's a tough decision honestly and takes court time more than anything since we all are different.

I would still demo the TT95. It's a wonderful frame that gets very positive comments almost universally. I use it and think it's pretty flexy with a slightly modern touch. Maybe not as much as the older Prestige's but you make still like it. It's very cushy feeling with full multi and I'm sure would be even better with gut. If you go with the Angell, you will get a flexier, more arm friendly response with the 16x19 pattern, while the 95" headsize provides the control you need. Probably a safer bet than the 18x20. You can always fine tune further with strings/tension.

I've hit all three (TT95 owned 2 for about 4 months, TC95 in 16x19, TC97 is my current racquet).
Of the three, I prefer the flex of the TC97. From what I can tell, the TT 95 fits somewhere between the TC97 and the TT95 in terms of flex.
I will say that the TT95 is a good racquet. It's got plenty of feel, it's good on serve and it really is solid on groundies. The only gripe I had was put away power. If you're a flattish hitter, that may not be a big deal.
The best way I can describe the TC97 is a mix of the Tour G and GPP. It's got great feedback and touch but the pop and spin of the GPP.
I do need to string it up a bit higher though as I will tend to miss long with it.
The TC95 is a different animal as compared to the TC97. In fact, I think it plays closer to the TT95 but with more ball crushing sensation.

Im an old Prestige MP and Pro user and in many ways the TC95 is what I wanted the Prestige pro to be ... but it was too stiff to be my go to frame. The TC95 is inherently more powerful than the prestiges but no less controlled, as another said it just takes a little time to adjust. The wonderful thing about the Angells is they are serving beasts and have serious putaway power without sacrificing precision and control. Depending on your tastes 18x20 might be necessary with gut but the Angells are inherently more comfortable than the YT and IG prestiges... especially the TC95 which IS muted. You could probably go gut poly.. ore even low tension full poly. Seriously, these are great on the arm.

I do feel like the TT95 is an inherently different frame... I was until recently playing with an even more demanding beast the Pacific x feel pro 95. The most accurate and low powered MP Ive ever come across. The TC95 is nearly as accurate but more power on reserve for serves and winners. It hits an incredibly heavy ball. The XFP95 was kind of death by a thousand cuts... the TC95 can play prestige like defense but when you go for winners its a lot more like a PS85. It crushes the ball routinely. Utimately its a more patient stick... you can wait to strike. with the XFP95, PCT or TT95 you gotta stay on the gas. If you are in your 30's you might as well think harder about an Angell than the TT95. Nice stick but plan to train a little to get the most out of it. I still train btw. and coming from the XFP95 to the TC95 is like being given free points plus having the better footwork to track down some hard to get to balls. My last match It won me a few points that I was on the defensive until the very last shot (one of my heavy backhands) and I was running all over the place until then. I still cant believe I went from defense to offense after being that out of position. That heavy ball (reminiscent of the PS85 but with modern spin potential/window) from the TC95 is a big plus.

Thats the biggest thing about the TT95. It took a lot of effort to hit with the same weight of shot that I could get easily with my Tec 315. I also thought the feel was good, but not as good.

While it was awesome to swing out with that frame for a few hours of practice, I didn't see it being some awesome in a match, just tiring. And I train as well. Have been doing crossfit for over a year and it really helps my tennis game a ton.

But hey, I really don't care what anyone else tries or prefers. Out of my control. I just am adding my personal experience to help anyone looking for feedback.

I agree. I am a former GPP user. The TC97 is a lot like the GPP (precision/spin/power) but it doesn't sound like **** when you it the ball. It has a much better feel too. I also get a bit more spin out of mine so I could up the SW to 360. Good for heavy balls and crushing serves. :)

Yes. He removed the lead blocks and replaced them with wedges of silicone. This is easy for Geoff to address, either with a new ( heavier) custom pallet or just good 'ole lead tape. [emoji106] Mine will end up 343/32.5/335!

We use abut the exact same specs. Im a little more HH than you..just a hair - probably 4.5 pts HL. But Im at 342 grams, same SW on this racquet.

I almost took a flier on that one, but it just sounded too weird for me :) He told me it was 300 grams with the silicone AND lead. He also told me it would be difficult to remove the pallet.
At least you have a racquet Pro to help you get it to where you like it. Good luck with it and it will be interesting to hear your comparisons of the 95 & 97.

I broke the strings on my TC97 this evening while warming up (they were overdue anyway), so I had to switch to a TC95. Amazing how much easier the 97 is in use once fully accustomed to it. Hopefully I'll get a few more of them soon.

It's a bit easier to defend with, plus I feel I do not have to work as hard to get the same kind of ball as with the TC95 – depth and spin come just that tiny little bit easier with the TC97 to make a difference. I also serve harder better faster stronger with the 97, but that's probably just because I've used it exclusively for the last few weeks.

I had it strung with Head Hawk Touch 18 at 21/20kg, btw. Complements the frame well in my opinion. Probably going for a mix of Gravity (my usual go-to string) and Hawk Touch frames once I receive my order of fresh TC97's (next week, hopefully. Paul? ;)).

I am very eager to compare the 97 and 95 on the serve because I agree with you the 97 is an excellent serving frame BUT I've also read so many posts from folks who are singing the praises of the TC95 in that department too!! :) Best, BHBH

I can attest that the TC95 is a serving beast. At first my kick serves needed some dialing in, but now I am firing on all cylinders and serving my best ever. Wicked slices with good pace, thumping flat bombs, and crazy kicks are only part of what it brings to the table. Also, I put a Head leather grip on it this morning, and it brought the balance and weight distribution to something I'm a little bit more accustom to, and I like it very much. My only inquiry for the moment in strings. I like the strings I have in it, but I've got some tendinitis in my elbow and need to find something softer for the time being. I just need something soft that I can string tight (I like to swing out on the ball) and generate decent spin. My current leader is Head Rip Control, but I haven't tried it in the racquet yet. Please suggest anything.

I've tried their classic gut with Volkl Cyclone in the crosses before. Played fantastic, but I like to have fresh strings, so I restring pretty frequently. Maybe I'll give it another shot.

I have been using full NG since I got the racquets and even before with other frames. Although I cannot speak for the TC95, with TC97 I really have to get up to 58-63# range to maintain control. Below those numbers, the racquet is so powerful that either I have killer FH and BHs or miss the court by a foot. The variance of the launch angle is very small at lower tensions. I restring quite frequently as well, 6-7 hrs on avg. per string, but for touch, control, power and softness, there is nothing like NG. I am however going to try out Wilson Champion's Duo once to see if I can increase my topspin RPMs, but it is not like I needed that terribly, there is plenty spin with NG as well, but maybe I can tame the TC97 with a little more spin. If you are going to re-try NG, I suggest your try it on full bed first.

I use NG and that was my concern. I am interested in the 95 but thinking with NG it might be better to opt for the 18X20 string pattern. I assume you are playing with a 97 16X19.

just the most popular specs light and heavy of those sticks and no option for choosing length, string pattern, RA, grip style. Smart move as he can supply these to retailers and still grow the custom business as you can get a demo in pro shops i suspect. TW here's your chance.

Hey everyone. I hope this is OK to post here.

I'm curious about Angell as an option for tennis racquets, but I don't know too much about the pros and cons of all of these options I see on their site. I'm a semi-intermediate player, very tall, like to hit the ball hard, and have a tendency to mishit more than I should. That makes me want to go for the 105 oversized head, but I'm not sure about the rest. Up until now I used a Volkl Organix 7, but I'm wondering if such a light racquet is too hard on my elbow (which starts to ache after practice).

The only general down-side is no demo programme. You really have to know your specs or be able to customize the racquet to your preferences in case you don't like what you've ordered.

Reading your post, I would encourage you to develop your game a bit more before committing to an Angell frame. I was a bit like you, meaning I liked to hit hard with a lot of collateral damage in the form of mishits, but I worked on that, gained consistency and a certain feel for shot-decision making process. Now I reap my rewards with a 95sq inch Angell frame with all the attributes a shot-maker/first striker could wish for.

If you have money to spend, go ahead and order a TC100/105 close to the specs you are accustomed to or try to find one in for-sale section. I don't have a personal experience with those Angell frames but if they posses the same quality and craftsmanship the TC95 has(and I don't see any reason why they shouldn't), there are not many better frames out there. If I was in your place, I would concentrate on developing my game a bit further.

Only 5 #s cheaper?? Why wouldn't you spend 5 more and get a fully custom one?

But yes, hopefully there will be demos available of these somewhere in the US.

Also it's weird that he picked the heaviest (320g) and lightest (290g) for this new line?
Why wouldn't you pick something in the middle, like 305 or 310? Wonder if you will be able
to open up these pallets too and move around or remove/add lead if you want.

not weird that he picked 320 because it is a very popular heavy spec... though he does make heavier frames at 330g. the light spec seems to be aimed at providing a pro stock specced lite hairpin.

Yeah that changes the model a lot. He is now able to sell to distributors like people were asking about before, and not get overloaded with custom work. The funny thing is I guarantee people will complain about the weights he is offering and not be satisfied until he puts something out that they want. Big picture is all the people wanting a demo should finally be able to get one at some point.

yes it shows faith in his custom product and pushes the demo program to retailers so he can concentrate on custom work and new designs. unlike some companies his lines are stable and he understands about supplying frames with consistency. All of our talk has likely made Paul very busy and this strategy lets him scale up while doing what he does.

happy to see you are still reading my posts :)

I wasn't complaining....just thought it was a little odd that he was offering low and high end weights. I thought these non custom racquets would be aimed more at the general population and those aren't "popular" unstrung weights. But it's good to see him broadening his product line and hopefully get some US distributors with demos.

Paul himself states (on his site) those weights were the most frequently requested custom weights for heavy and lite spec... so considering Angell as a company those are popular.

So what are you gonna do if you demo one then love it? If it is your holy grail (unlikely) you wont have anything to complain about then... will you risk that?

Its s smart step for scaling up the full line without shifting the custom model.

Was checking out the specs for the TC100 Pro: unstrung, it's 10.2 oz, 6HL, and 67RA (no SW listed). For the few of us who found the custom TC100, even at the lightest offerings, somewhat "cumbersome", wonder if this model might address that issue. I would think the RA would come down, similar to other models once strung and finalized and, of course, the static weight would go up (maybe close to 11?), but just might fit the bill. Mods probably needed to give it a little more plow and stability.

It won't as its the same as the lightest custom models. The RA here is lower only because it's measured this time after the pallets and grip have been added whereas the customs are measured without grip and strings. The SW should be the same.

The way I see it, unless the Tour or Pro offerings are your chosen string pattern and handle shape, for the difference in price you might as well go with a custom stick.

If you're considering an Angell it seems like you've likely tried enough retail frames and can't find anything you like. So you might as well get exactly what you want.
