Hi.

I’ve just ordered a K7 and notice that the grip L2 is thicker than my L2 from the TC100...

f06b763ffd23c5d18aaaa8f6ef64fdef.jpg

I immediately notice when I was on court hitting the first balls...my arm notice right away!

Is this normal?
Or it could be some kind of defect?

Help,please.

It would be strange if you had a synthetic grip on your TC100 as they should be the same. However a leather grip on your TC100 would be normal to be a bit smaller. You have a difference of about .3mm on the leather grip.

But I put a leather grip on K7,exactly the same of TC100(I took off from my other TC)
That’s the thing!
I mean,they should match,right?

For the last few years I predominantly played extended length frames (first TC90 27.25", then TC97 18x20 27.5"). Due to a severe lack of court time (aka small children) I thought I'd make life a little bit easier and switched to the TC1 00 in standard length. Loved it.

A few weeks ago I ordered a 27.5" TC100 on a whim, just to scratch that itch. And it feels like coming home again. Everything I love about the TC100 (power, spin, power, comfort, power) is magnified by the extra half inch – pure bliss. I can only urge everyone to try an extended length racket given the chance. The fact that Angell has a whole lineup of 90in to 105in frames in up to 28" length readily available for the everyone (as in no pro stock shenanigans) is unbelievably cool.
Yeah, it depends doesn’t it since we all have different styles and games. If you’re a baseliner either offensive or counterpuncher then sure may be helpful and certainly on serve. If you have more of all court game and you volley or half volley anywhere in no mans land or net then not so much. There are pros and cons to everything and a longer stick will hurt you on body shots and quickness

Gentlemen, has anyone tried the new 'Hybrid Pro' grip?

From Angell FB page:

"New for 2019. Angell Hybrid Pro grips feature a unique construction of high quality calf skin top layer bonded to a synthetic base. This Hybrid construction combines the benefits of leather grips with a slightly softer feel".

Seems very interesting. I might have to bite the bullet.

Yes, I have this grip on few of my racquets for three or four month now. Id does what it says - lets you feel the bevels better and softens the feel. Another great product from Paul. My go-to grip now for sure.

He sent me one of the prototypes to try and it felt pretty good with a tad softness. This one looks different though in the picture. The one i tried wasn’t perforated, was grey and weighed 21g. My TC95 balance is perfect though and I don’t want to experiment with anything that will throw that off.

Wow, I didn't realise it had been out for that long! Thanks for the feedback. I need to try it for sure now.

Cool. So that is about the same weight as a trimmed installed leather grip. And I don't blame you. If you're gelling with your TC95, no point is messing up the balance. What final specs are you on at the moment on your TC95?

Yes, it should be very close but I’m happy with the Angell leather and balance. Comfort is good, feel is good so no real incentive for me. My frames are 342.5g/31.6cm all matched..one is 31.5cm balance and 342.9

Nice. I have been tinkering with my TC97s and have been playing pretty passive tennis lately. I am at 345/31.75. Have gotten used to the flex so that is a non-issue now. Still not getting that heavy loaded ball off of groundstrokes. Keep telling myself I haven't given these a fair shake since I had such a long hiatus. Will keep adding weight till I reach my max limit (PSTGT weight class). Will see how that pans out. Super happy you are gelling with your TC95. It is HARD finding that grail.

I hope you dial it in to your liking! You’ve had some bad luck with injuries lately so hopefully behind you now. I keep thinking at my age I should move up to a 98 or 100 for that little extra forgiveness. The TC95 strung with BK @46 seems to give me a decent sweet spot and a balance of playability that is beating out other frames. Just tried the new red VCORE 98 and nice frame but didn’t match my TC95s

most of the tc95s end up close to 327-330 sw range strung
A special thanks to you mate...
I have 2x K7 Red with natural gut for close to an year now. I have been adding weights here and there but never got into my rhythm. Now I have your MGR/I sheet and got one of K7 to SW 330, W 342g and balance 32.5 couple of days ago. Yet to hit with it. My K7 was 290 SW unstrung and jumped to 330 when I string it with klip armour pro natural gut.

I have my TC97 at 297SW and TC95 with 292 SW unstrung. Planning to use one of them as secondary stick with synthetic gut to use it during wet conditions and have almost same SW and spec as K7.

I remember Topspn unstrung SW is around 292-293, but his weight and balance is different than mine and still close to MGR/I 21. So trying to understand how much SW made that difference. It might also help me to decide which one to modify to get close to K7.

I playtest the new Srixon Dunlop CX and while that is a great looking racquet, people were asking more about my V3 than that as I switched back and forth. That copper/black catches everyone's eyes.
lol..the heading turning looks are a plus. I just converted a guy I hit with to Angells recently. First time he saw my racquet his jaw dropped in awe :-D

you are very welcome @Prem
strings add quite a bit sw to the racket, natural gut is the heaviest and next heavy string is poly, syn gut adds the least amount...
Here is really interesting work sheets to see how much strings add to the sw and balance string influence on balance and sw

I understand the attraction to a more forgiving frame. I've pretty much only ever hit 98" dunlops and volkls and recently hit the Tecnifibre ATP 305 XTC. That Tecnifibre is in the back of my mind still, but there's nothing quite like the TC95. It does seem to play bigger than 95-96".

I continue trying out different frames that sound interesting with an aim of more forgiving. I have been hitting a Dunlop CV 3.0 next to my TC95s. Same result, a bit more forgiveness and CV 3.0 is actually a nice frame that i enjoyed, however it still didn’t top my Angells. I can’t argue the results when I’m hitting my TC95s

Yeah,... the TC95 has an exceptional feel that is hard to find into another frame.

Yeah, both feel and playability is quite good. I have to give some credit to black night as well that just made my TC95s so balanced and predictable for me.

Unfortunately, I spent a lot of money on Black Friday. The next target will be this beautiful racket. Fascinating paintjob! And I'll put a black or copper string.
After performing some tests with my current rackets, I will think about the V3 customization.

That’s because the TC95 is actually a 98.

Can anyone have tested both Tc97 versus wilson ultra tour?
Would love to get opinions about this comparison.

And wich differences have Tc97 classic and the new V3?

Thanks!

Another local tournament win in few weeks - seems that Salem helped a lot and it is not a placebo with this number of 21. :) However, my shoulder struggles a bit because of higher static weight.

Yeah, sold all my TC100s a while back and played PSTGTs and on occasion p17. i wanted to try the V3 so got a new TC95 and it was terrific and i do think its a bit more enhanced then V2 feel wise. Now i have three of them and sold everything else except the PSTGT, that one is staying. I got lucky and settled on the right string as well so no changes anytime soon. But i will always try different frames on occasion because i enjoy it

Hi Everyone,
I have two K7's (playing with them and enjoy them) also have a couple of TC97's and 1 TC95 18X20.
I should at least get rid of the TC 97's since I no longer play with them but that aside, I am thinking of purchasing
a V3 open pattern. Do any of you notice any differences in feel or arm friendliness of the V3 vs the TC95 18X20. If there is little difference there is no point in buying the V3. I assume you can get a little more spin with open pattern.
I string my sticks with gut on the mains ands lately Halo1 on the crosses.
Thanks for your input.

You seem to be using open pattern and V3 interchangeably but I think you’re asking for differences between the TC95 18 x20 and 16x19 patterns. In terms of arm friendliness, both are pretty arm friendly and you are playing them with gut mains and multi crosses so you’re hitting with melted butter :-D I only play full poly so keep that in mind. The 18x20 I’d play at a lower tension of around 42 or 43lbs (full poly) to get a string bed equivalent to the open pattern at 46lbs. The 18x20 has a more firm feeling string bed comparatively. Playability, 16x19 naturally hits a bit bigger and if you hit with heavy spin then a heavier ball. Both are great serving sticks and beautiful authoritative volley sticks. I also find the 18x20 requires a thinner gauge string around 1.20mm while the 16x19 plays best with a larger gauge string around 1.3mm. The V3 Angells overall seem to have upped feedback a bit. At the end of the day the choice between the two is dependent on your hitting style. If you are more prone to falter hitting then stay with the 18x20 and if you hit heavy top spin or like to interchange spin then get the 16x19.

Thanks Topspn for your input. I am playing with the K7 and most people would not think of playing with another but I like playing around with sticks like many of us. I find the 95 18X20 a bit. firmer as you suggest. The question I had would the V3 be comparable to theTC9516X19 for the most part and would the V3 provide something the 18X20 does not. I like the feel of the K7. You suggest the V3 gives you more feedback. Does that mean it is a little harsher? I have had elbow issues in the past so that is why I do not play with full poly.
Thanks again. I appreciate it.

Looking for tension suggestions for my TC95 18x20s. I have some Klip Gut and Volk V-Star on the way, both 18g. I agree with topspn above on keeping thin, full poly in the low 40s, but what about this gut in the mains? What are others stringing gut in the TC95 18x20?

I string my TC95 18x20 with Head RIP Control 1.20mm (mains) and MSV CoFocus 1.18mm (crosses) at 24/22 kg.

Ah yes, the difference between the 16x19 in V2 and V3 is not a large departure by any means. It is the same racquet after all. The V3 is not harsher in the least and is playing extremely comfortable for me. I do think feel of the V3 is upped a bit, however this could also easily be do to the Black Night string I am currently playing which seems a great match for my frames

I string the gut anywhere from 53-57. I bought up a bunch of Wilson gut on the internet as it is my preferred gut. Unfortunately , it is no longer available. Most of the other gut I have tied is far too stiff.
