Received my TC100 yesterday, specs were spot on at 310g 9ptsHL and 63RA. Strung it with Velocity 16g natural at 55#. My racket guys measured the swing weight after it was strung at 329 for those of you wondering what V3 TC100s are. Rallied with a big hitting junior for about an hour afterwards and everything felt great. Best of all was no arm pain or fatigue. Only slight negative was that my volleys were not as crisp as with my TC95, but that could be me or the fact that my TC95 is 20g heavier. May try a small amount of lead in the hoop, but not too much as it is almost perfect in stock form.

Thanks. Since you have TC95 in both versions, can you compare the performance? which one did you like it? did you feel any difference? and also since you have both 310/315 V2 and 320/305 V3, which one did you feel the balance or weight distribution feels right and solid? On a different note, i am thinking of changing the specs to 320/310 or 320/305 balance. Any quick suggestions?

Since I got the second TC95 I have never used the same string in both simultaneously, and focused more on finding the specs I like most (both string and weight/balance). So I'm not really sure how they compare to each other. To me, the V3 seems to have a few points higher SW, and I am a fraction slower with it, compared to the V2 with the same weight and balance. Maybe I am just more used to the V2 since I used it for a few months. Aesthetically, I prefer the octane V3 by a large margin :)
Regarding the specs, I knew 320g would work for me, but as the others have said, it's safer to get the lighter option and adjust up from there.

Has anyone tried really weird setups through Angell?
I've always thought that was kind of the point of getting a custom build. If I wanted a racket that was basically a Blade, I'd just buy a Blade.
Two builds I think would be interesting, extended length mid. There are no rackets at 27.5 inches+ and 95 inches that I can find available.
Also a lighter extended length racket. The extended length adds a lot to the swingweight, so It'd be interesting to see on only at like 11 ounces and 27.5 inches.

The point of getting an Angell is to get the specs that you want. Other than Yonex, Angell is the only racket I have ever bought whose specs are what they are supposed to be. I got tired of getting rackets that are 15g under or over spec, and forget about getting two that are the same.

Completely agree with you. That's why i also went ahead with 310/315 as Paul himself suggested, so that i will have some room for any further customization, though my current Angells are 320/310 or 305. I also love the Octane paint job. I will update everyone once i played with Octane TC95 V3 few times.

If few pages back in the thread there was a guy who bought a 28in TC95 and then posted a YouTube video of himself with it. He preferred slower more deliberate swings as opposed to high racket head speed.

I thought he had a real nice game. I can only imagine the ultimate power you must feel taking solid cuts with a 28in Angell, [emoji1]

466 pages suggest Angell is more than just custom specs. Plus I'm not sure you can get a racquet that's basically a Blade from Angell anyway (unless K7 or ASL2 play like one).

I dont know of any current manufacturers who replicate the old school feel like Angell does with the K7 Red. Even with Prince who is making low RA frames with Phantom line don't have the old school feel and play like modern racquets. The Blade and Clash still play like a modern racquets in light of the low RA ratings. Angell has one of the best quality control on the market and with the custom offerings, they are really tough to beat.

I play test Wilson Pro Staff Six.One 95, the paint job is Federer's 2013 wimbledon, anyway, what would be the equivalent to Angell on that matter? The TC95 is D-beam while 97 is box beam. Anyway, loving my TC100 and I think this racket forced me to learn good footwork(still learning) and proper swing/preparation compared to when I'm using Babolat PAT or Aero Pro before where you can get away with poor mechanics because of easy power. I tried the Pro staff 95 before but I hate it as it's low powered, but now, I'm loving it and I can control or produce the ball I wanted and it has a good power on it too, surprisingly. So I guess I'm ready to try 95 now.

Yes TC95 16x19 is definitely an option for you. I was using same prostaff 2013 version and then PS97/RF97 and wrecked my arm. Angell TC95 was my savior and i have 3 of them now and ordered couple in Octane paint job. Its a great racquet and you won't be disappointed.

Hey guys,

I currently own a pair of K7 Lime rackets. Love the comfort, feel and control, but I miss the spin from the back of the court in singles play.

Has anyone compared the K7 Lime with the K7 Red? Does the K7 Red have much more spin potential? And is it similar playing, albeit 15g lighter and 16/18.

I've also been looking at the new Prince 93p 14/18 as an alternative.

Have any of you guys compared these rackets?

Have a Lime myself and wish it was simply a color and string pattern variant of the Red. Because of the central chunk of weight in the Lime, I find it hard to customize to my liking and keep it under 345 grams. I keep gravitating back to my TC95s and wishing they were TC98s. Compromise always seems to be a part of it.

Sorry, but I haven't tried the K7 Red. I can't deal with Angell's open 16x19 patterns.

I've got one up for sale in classifieds if you're interested. It definitely has some pop to it and I bought it after playing with a Six.One 98S for a long while.

I have not hit with K7 Lime but have a matching pair of K7 Reds that I bought directly from Angell. The spin production is very good compared to other 16 x 19 frames and certainly will have alot easier spin potential over the Lime that has an 18 x 20 pattern. In addition, there is room for customization with the K7 Red as the frame is only 305 grams unstrung. I would say that the K7 Red will be alot easier to use but the control will not be quite as good as the Lime. I personally prefer open 16 x 19 string patterns.

Just tonight I have used both my K7Red and my K7Lime. The Red is 10 grams lighter, balance 320 vs the 310 of the Lime. Both customized in different ways.
The Red has a higher spin potential, it is softer, less precise and powerful than the Lime. Bigger sweet spot, less control.
The Red is my favorite racquet, mainly because it minimizes my double faults, but I often try and use the Lime because it improves my slice backhand. It is also better at the net, where I do not go very often.

Ah I see. So you'd say the Red is more comfortable and less powerful?

Thanks for all your responses guys

Hey pneumated1, saw the Lime in classifieds, are you reverting to your TC95 18x20 then? I know you were looking for a comparison between the two & then once you found Lime you really loved it so I'm curious what got you back to the TC95! I mean it is a fantastic racquet so can't blame ya but just curious what was lacking in Lime for you?

I went through the same thing btw.For me it was just that TC95 offered better maneuverability for me overall & also hit a bigger ball from baseline. Lime has that plush soft feedback going for it too though! I ended up trading my Lime in the end.

Well I think Pneumated couldnt be more clear to be honest. The somewhat high static weight of the lime and the fact that the pallets are molded (non removable, and no possibility to remove lead weights from the handle. My lime has no Trap door as well.. ) make it more difficult to customize to the desired specs. I would have loved it if the lime would have been 305g unstrung because it leaves more room for customizing. (Especially with the trend of more and more players using lighter sticks).

On the lime vs red. Reds launch angle was a little high and weird for me. The poster above must have made a little typo because the red is MORE powerful than the lime of course.

The K7 Red now continues to be my racquet of choice. The unique feel, comfort, spin and easy use bring alot to the table that other racquets don't have! It might a tad low on power but it forces you to be creative and the spin generation creates high bouncing balls are tough for opponents to handle.

Thank you but I was hoping he would chime in on if there were any other reasons besides customization (since he obviously mentioned the static weight being higher). Was hoping to hear more in terms of how he felt comparing both from a playability perspective as I went through the same thing myself & was interested in his thoughts. Also had a UT phase like him as well.

Hey there sanister. The Lime is a great frame but proved to be a little too soft and plush for my preferences. Can't believe I'm stating that because I prefer muted and plush frames, but there were times when I lost a little control because I wasn't sure what the ball was doing off the strings. That forced me to reign in my targeting just a bit. Granted, I had it strung with gut/poly at 52/50 (probably too low). My Lime with that setup, even stock, was more powerful than the TC95 and hit a high-quality ball, but I was also consistently hitting random balls just long, even on my bh slice.

I added a leather grip, a few grams at 3/9, and touch of head tape at 12 to try to find a solution. It gave me a little better feel and connection, but I was pushing 345-350 grams, and I just don't want to be that high anymore. If the Lime came in, like the Red, at 305 grams, I'm sure I would have had more success customizing it. But because the extra weight of the Lime is centrally located (feels like throat area to me), any added weight just made it feel more clunky. And it had the characteristic C-10 Pro/Classic Prestige head 'wobble.' And I've never preferred those frames because of that.

At the end of the day, I'm so much more familiar with and prefer the TC95 18x20's comfortably firm feel, response, and control. But I'm still stuck wanting that same response in a true 98" package. The TC97 doesn't give me that. The K7 doesn't give me that.

However, I did pick up a used TF40 305, and it gives me what I'm looking for in spades, but I'm adjusting to the thicker beam and balance shift, trying to meet the racquet on its terms. I'm hitting it stock with just a little counter weight to get to 4-5pts hl, but it has promise. It is a quality frame but doesn't move with the quickness of the TC95. That's the only compromise so far.

Thanks for the detailed answer pneumated1, I felt that very similar Prestige like hoop flex when I added weight to the Lime as well so can totally relate. I had mine strung up with a bunch of setups & I just couldn't dial in.That whole D beam uniform flex in the TC95 is addictive for sure and I'm always searching for that feedback in whatever racquet I seem to try.

I felt that the box beam of the TC97 responded very very different than D beam & I just couldn't really gel with it although it is a great frame nevertheless. Would it be too much to ask for a 8 main D Beam 98 head size TC? Haha.I think I've come across a bunch here willing to support the cause.

Haven't tried the TF 40 305 but it got released I think when V7 Blade came out & a few other frames so I overlooked it. Perhaps I should give it a look as well.It just went under my radar.

Thanks for your input!

Very different experience than yours for me. Did a comparison and review for both somewhere in this thread. Red is not as powerful as Lime strung with same string setup. Yes, the launch angle for Red is higher due to the more open pattern but that does not necessarily relate to inherent power of the stick. Lime being beefier has considerably more plow than Red in stock form. That said, both are fantastic feeling frames but neither are as powerful as D Beam offerings in the TC series.

Yes, agreed.I couldn't gel with K7 Red because of the typical Angell open pattern 16x19 the ball was launching higher. I also found early batches of K7 Red to play very different than later batches so didn't feel like investing too much time in tinkering honestly. But feel wise, it is second to none! Very sweet feeling racquet.

Was your red one of the earlier batches? Mine was of the firmer batch and hit with ample power! I remember Topspin hitting with the K7 Red from the earlier batches and that didnt have enough power and was too soft.

I just cant seem to get it right. Like many of you guys I am or was stuck between Angell rackets. I keep coming back to them because the feel and the quality is just superb.

K7 red: launch angle issue, and somehow annoyed my elbow a bit
K7 lime: somewhat too heavy and the grip size/shape feels different from the custom series
TC95 18x20: nice but missing some stability and swingweight around 340 strung was just too much for me.
TC 100 16x19: lovely frame but a little too much power, too much spin, difficult to hit flat with. And I cant seem to gel with it on serve that well.

Many of us have gone the Ultra Tour route, but that for me has some weird ultra power spot in the frame the ball just flies.might have been too low swingweight for some and some say it was unstable. Plus wilson qc you dont know what you are gonna get.

I ended up with the new V7 Blade and chose TW matching service.

Maybe a TC 100 18x20 or a TC98 18x20 would be the ultimate racket?

I think Limes have been consistent in RA since they came out. Perhaps you meant what batch Red I had since those had the RA discrepancy?

I actually tried both Reds; had one from the very early second batch which was 57 RA strung if I remember same as @topspn, and then got one from later batch from late last year after hearing from everyone that it had been firmed up a bit. That was 62RA strung (got that one from fellow poster @Faris actually).

Early batch was legit low powered. Needed weight in hoop. The later batch one definitely played with more power than previous batch Red. Felt very plush still, but with just a tad crisper feedback on impact compared to older batch one. And wasn't super low powered or anemic or anything like that. Just that compared to K7 Lime it still felt lower powered. My Lime was also 62 RA strung BTW like the later batch Red when I had it measured on RDC.

I can totally relate about coming back to Angells. I have all these flings and then find myself going back to my Angells (only to try something else - racquetholic curse, I know). I think V7 Blades are pretty amazing by the way and matching service was a great idea considering Wilson QC. Did you go with 18x20 or 16x19?

And my friend, I hear ya! I think both TC100 with 8 main or a TC98 with both patterns would be such a welcome addition in my humble opinion.

Yep, I think K7 both Red and Lime are the sweetest feeling frames in the Angell lineup without a doubt.

I can relate to much of what you say, but I'm no longer stuck between racquets; I'm down to my last Angell option. I feel like I hit the TC95 18x20 well, but it's demanding. I'm playing my pair at only 335 grams, around 7pts hl, and 326 swing weight, and I have to say that it's stable enough, powerful, and quick for its weight. However, its stability issues could be fixed by increasing the head size to 98" and increasing the beam width to the TC100's 21mm. So I totally agree, as do many in this thread, that a uniform flex TC98 would be the ultimate Angell. There's a disappointing gap in the line for many of us who don't get along with the current open 16x19.

I was able to hit a Blade V7 18x20 for about 10 minutes. Ironically, it's almost a hybrid of the TC95 18x20 and K7 Lime. Good choice;)

Those who have the Octane paint. How cool does it look?

I'm considering buying a third tc97 to get the octane color and I'm totally crazy about these frames!!

while waiting for the Octane V3 TC95 16x19s, started thinking about what strings should i string them with? My go to strings are RS Lyon, Tier One BK, Legend Gut/Poly. Did anyone try Diadem Solstice Power in TC95 16x19? If so, can you please share the feedback? Seems like its great for spin and comfortable for a poly and i met a rep. who can get me the strings for fraction of the proce. Appreciate any feedback

When did the K7 Red stiffness change? Was this conformed by Paul?

I am not sure starting from which batch exactly they brought it up to advertised RA, but was reported by multiple posters that early batches - while still 64 RA unstrung on paper like current ones - actually came in at much lower stiffness in the mid to high fifties strung. Mine was from second batch from very early 2018. I checked mine too as I have access to RDC and mine was 57 RA strung (59 RA unstrung).

When I got another Red end of last year, that one was 62 RA strung (and 64 RA unstrung) as should actually be. I'm not sure if Paul confirmed himself or not but I bet he was aware of it as he reads this thread.

Got mine in Feb of 2019 and its RA was in line with advertised specs... A friend got one July of 2018 and his was softer, same as haqq and others.. has to be somewhere in middle I'm guessing.. Paul knows about this.

When u sent me yours to try I remember that difference was very subtle but it was a darker shade red than mine.. perhaps that could be an identifier too? And your 3/8 ran bigger than mine as well (but that was later identified by Tennis Nerd as a manufacturing issue I remember reading)..

now reading this - it reminded me of my K7 Red grip. I got mine pre-loved, so don’t know which batch it is. Got it around summer time 2018 I think. After a few sessions I felt the L3 grip with my usual 0.70mm OG felt bigger, so I was going to replace the Angell grip with a thinner replacement grip. When I removed the Angell base grip, I noticed a white plastic piece wrapped around the pallet. It is definitely Hard plastic, not the soft plastic similar to the heat sleeve. Cut out the hard white plastic, replaced the Angell base grip and added my usual 0.70mm OG, it felt the same as the TC100 with the same base grip and the 0.70mm..... weird... lol

I now have that exact same K7 Red haqq got from you btw.

Quick sidenote:How was your meetup with him last month? Did you teach him a lesson he will never forget with those recently acquired S&V skills using the TC95 you were telling me about? ;)

Thats pretty interesting your K7 had a pallet like the custom series! All the K7 I have seen have a handle molded on.

Sorry I meant to say the moulded handle on my K7 Red rather than the pallet on the TCs (I am pretty sure...). The white hard plastic threw me off... lol

I bought a pair of K7 Red frames in early April. They definitely play with a RA strung in the low 60's. They also were identical on the weight and balance. Angell QC is one of the best!

Just played some fantastic tennis with 17g Head Lynx Tour in my TC97 18x20. Strung 2 piece at 48lbs. Not on my radar at all, but couldn't pass up the TW blowout sale of $4 a set.

Lynx Tour is a hexagonal poly and the package says it is made for control and spin (as opposed to power and comfort). Well, it still felt really comfortable and true to marketing I felt extremely dialed in.

I'm going thru my Tier 1 promo package playtest. Firewire boost feels like it gives me more spin and more comfort, but less power and less control. Havent put Black Knight in yet. Unless BK blows me away I might be a Lynx Tour guy. The champagne color of the string also looks great in the Black/Copper racket.

Ironically I went for both the 18x20 qnd the 16x19 V7 Blade. Really love both. But I would go back to Angell as soon as a TC98 18x20 or 16x19 with 4 mains in the throat and custom weight/balance Option comes out.

That’s good to hear, I bought a reel BK 17g when they sent me a 50%off code. Played with it twice so far and love the control. I am able to swing faster with more confidence and the low powered string keeps the ball in. I was playing with hyperg at 45 lbs and tried BK at 50 lbs. I need to try hyperg at 50lbs to have a good comparison between the two

Very cool, that racquet has been to more places than I have in the last few months lol..

Yeah, he's on a different level altogether :X3: Didn't even take a game off him (and he had surgery last year on his knee)...I did look fantastic wearing my new Nike GP Turbos though.. that accounts for something right?

Yep, love Angell because their QC is second to none IMO. Hoping someone here can chime in who purchased their Red before Feb of 2019. I know after that they were on dot on RA spec of low sixties strung..

Damn, should have tried taking my grip off to see..that is pretty interesting.. wonder why they did that white plastic thing on handle? Couldn't possibly be to adjust to advertised specs, that would be odd..

Received mine in early 2018. The frame is very soft.

I took the base grip off on mine because the l4 just felt too large. Didnt have white plastic around the handle. I sold my red and am now contemplating getting one in L3. But I a am happy camper with my blade V7s :)
