You might find that once it arrives in Oz, it will take another few days (if not six) to arrive to you. I hope I'm wrong, but that's what happened to me (however, this was a few years ago).

Looking forward to your thoughts.

Thankfully things have apparently improved. They showed up today, right on time! Basically six business days to process, assemble and ship them from the UK to Australia. Crazy.

Octane looks good in person. Only thing I'm not sure about is the "Angell" imprint at the bottom of the hoop.

Octane TC100 63RA 320g 305mm 16x19
Copper TC95 63RA 320g 305mm 18x20

It's going to rain here for the next few days, but that gives me time to get them strung. BK 1.23 in both I think, since I've got a few packs of that left and I've never tested the thinner gauge. I had 1.28 in my 70RA TC100, but it was a bit much for my arm. I think it should be fine in the softer stick though.

String the 18x20 1-2 kg lower than the 16x19 with the same string.

Does anyone know if Angell grip sizes run small? I have an L3 ASL2 and the grip is pretty small imo. Does this apply to the custom racquets as well?

A tad smaller than Head and Wilson. Can't say for other brands but yah I noticed they run a bit small.

And you noticed this for the custom racquets? I only ask because I'm thinking I should request an L4 when I do buy one.
I have 1x K7 Lime, 3x TC95 and 2x TC97. All 5 TCs are B shape. Yes all of them feel a bit smaller than the racquets I played with over the last year (H22, Prestige Pro and Phantom 93P).

Tricky one this. I buy grip A in L3 with PU grip, seems about right to me if anything ever so slightly smaller than head, however the PU grips are definitely thinner than the head hydrasorbs that I tend to replace them with when they worn out. (I don’t use overgrips)

So my TC95 18x20 63RA is arriving tomorrow. I now play with TC100 16x19 70RA @25kg synthetic gut. Should I start with the same tension or drop a few kg to get in the same ballpark of stiffness?

So just measured each grip circumference :
TC95 A: 11.7mm
TC95 B: 11.7mm
TC95 C: 11.7mm
TC97 A: 11.7mm
TC97 B: 11.7mm
K7 Lime : 11.7mm
Phantom 93P : 11.9mm
H22: 11.85mm
To be noted, all my racquets but the 93P have a Head leather grip with Yonex SuperGrap overgrip.

sorry if its already talked about, but does anyone knows why there is no custom 97 available for order, or when it will be? I sent an email but got no response from Angell

also, i am currently playing with Prince Beast 100 longbody 16x19 (27.5'') and loving it... so i was thinking of ordering custom 28'' to go even further... i am 6 foot 3 (193cm) and my trainer said i could take it no problem...

does any one has any experience with such an elongated frames? is 27.5'' the limit or 28'' is not so big of a difference

Don't use the drop down menu. From the home page click on "Custom V3" link. From there you can access the TC line. Then pass your cursor on the TC97 you want (16m or 18m) and click on "Build your own". You'll be able to order. To be noted only the copper pj is available.

unfortunately, not true... bcs when you finish the customisation and want to order you get an error...

good news is that Angell responded me on Facebook and told me it will be available within a week and announced through the social media!

It's been alluded to that there should be a new pj coming soon, which is why Paul is running down stock of the current pj's.

I have to say I have found Angell to be unresponsive. I messaged on FB once and emailed once and neither time have they responded.
Just pick up the phone and call them, Paul is so great to talk to and he can give you all the guidence you need.

The grip on Lime is for sure larger than the grip on TC line, I did not meassure but easy to feel. Grip on my Prince TT95 is equal to my C grip on TC95.

First hit with the 18x20 TC95. Very sweet. Strung with 1.23 Black Knight at 48lb.

My forehand and first serve were legit with it. Plenty of depth and power off the ground. Excellent placement. A couple of shots caught the tape that I was expecting to go over, but that's just the slightly lower launch angle of the denser pattern. It only happened two or three times, and I'll adjust. The flip side is that I only hit one topspin groundstroke long all night, despite playing pretty deep in general. Backhand slice was a bit wayward, but overall I loved it.

My first serve is usually a bomb, and it was no exception tonight. I think I was hitting about 75% first serves in, which is massive for me considering how hard I hit it. Had one dodgy game where I hit three doubles, but I do find my kick serve, which is still a work in progress, is the most racquet sensitive part of my game. It'll take some dialing in.

Was an interesting hit for a few reasons. First, i'm purely a 16x19 player. Only in the last two months have I ever liked an 18x20 (the Tecnifibre TF40 and Blade v7s that I demoed), so this purchase was sort of spontaneous. I play very flat and aggressive, and I know this SHOULD suit my game, so it's nice to find out that I think it will.

Secondly, I ran out of lead tape without realising it so I had to play this frame au naturale. I have my TC100, with identical specs, carrying 2g of lead at 10 o'clock and 2g more at 2 o'clock, and I was hoping to set this TC95 up the same. I was worried I'd find it unstable, which was why I leaded up the TC100, but I was pleasantly surprised. My opponent tonight wasn't a big hitter, but tomorrow I'm playing someone much tougher, so I'll be curious if it still holds up.

All-in-all, very positive first experience.

I also had my first outing today with a TC95 18x20. What a pleasant surprise. Sure, I hit quite a few balls outside the sweet spot and on the frame but that's because I am not a great player. But coming from the TC100 16x19 I felt a lot more comfortable in my shots. 1HBH felt really good. I could really go for the shot and not have the ball sail to the fence. Power on flat serve was a bit less but not by much. Somehow I got more spin on my serve which offset the loss in power. I almost feel like I've been playing with the wrong stick the last couple of years :-D

Tomorrow will be the real test in doubles matchplay but I have a good feeling about it

Hit number two with the 18x20 TC95 was a great success. Played one of my regular opponents who I'm roughly even with. He's beaten me the last two times but I got him tonight 6-3 6-3. Not an unheard of scoreline in our rivalry, but very solid. And if it weren't for my two dodgy service games with two and three double faults respectively, it would have looked downwright nasty.

I feel really confident with this stick from the back of the court, and my serve is an absolute bomb. One of the best serving sticks I've used. Possibly even better than the TC100 weirdly? Not sure. My % wasn't as high tonight as last night, but still 55-60%ish. Maybe 8 aces, and many more unreturnable.

The things I'm going to have to work on some more:

- My kick serve. Just randomly goes off the boil.
- My return. Haven't dialed in the launch angle yet and I'm netting too many and sending a few rockets into the fence too. My opponent tonight has a pretty average serve, and I should really get 95% of them back into play, but I didn't.
- When I'm really far behind the baseline trying to hit a high defensive forehand, I dumped a couple of them a foot or two before the net on my side. Like, they weren't even close despite me taking a big cut. Something strange going on there.

The serve return issue could potentially be a stability thing. That's where I felt it on the TC100 that I leaded up. I'm not sure yet. Will test some more. But I'm very pleased. We have a contender.

I haven't even tried the 63RA TC100 that I got because I'm enjoying this so much.

Try talking with the Wilson or head managing director & founder haha.
Very small team at Angell. What was your question?

Not sure if I like this over the v3 Copper PJ... this one looks a bit more "generic modern" aka monotone with a splash of colour... I also still prefer the Octane by quite a ways.

I do like the concept of the increased weight/balance options, although not sure how much I'd use them.

I wonder if anything has actually changed aside from the PJ between v3 and v4 though.

I definitely felt a difference between v2 and v3 in terms of stability, not so sure about this one. Might be just a PJ

hype train!

i am ready to order CUSTOM V4 TC97 – 18 X 20, 330g, 28'', (dont know the balance yet)...

you think it will be too much? bcs of weight and 28''? i am currently on Prince Beast 100 LB 27.5'' 320g and want something more powerful

also, is it worth to take Leather grip (or perforated/hybrid) and what do you get with it, considering we all put the overgrip too

Looks just like a paint job (nice one tho).

The website says something about "our new Micro Braided construction layer" but I'm not sure if that was there before. Not really any talk of new tech or changes.

i got the response about the leather grip on Facebook:

"Some players prefer a leather or stiffer grip which keeps the handle bevels sharper under an over grip. PU grips can be softer and make the handle feel more rounded."

so i guess, thats a good answer.. i like the more sharper angles on the handle...

But do you also prefer a stiffer/harder handle?

I currently play with a Yonex Vcore Pro 97 HD and a Yonex Vcore 95 (2021 version).

I love my Pro 97 HD, but it is not quite as maneuverable as I'd like and not quite as much power as I'd like.

That's why I got the Vcore 95 because (at least to me) it is way more maneuverable and has more power.

Problem with the Vcore 95 is it hits long a little too much and not quite as accurate as my Pro 97 HD.

So I figured I'd try and find a racquet that was the best of both worlds.

I made an impulse buy and bought an Angell K7 Lime on Sunday. Should have it to my house by next Monday. Fast service!

Anybody ever hit with both the Pro 97 HD and the new Vcore 95?

Just trying to figure out if my impulse buy was silly or not.

:)

I really don't think that your TC97 is going to be more powerful than your Beast.

Maybe if you'd said a TC100 I'd believe it more, but not so much the TC97.

As for this, just be aware that a leather grip will also make the racket "less comfortable" since you're getting a more direct feedback to your hand.

Also, Angell are built to spec, regardless of the customisation, i.e. your racket will be 330g w/ Leather, meaning if you eventually want to swap to synthetic it will be ~8-10g less or however much difference there is.
