Attention TW Posters:

It's occurred to me that some of you might be taking my threads a little bit too seriously. Perhaps I've gotten away from the proper spirit of discussion on these boards. I'd just like to clarify some points:

1) I have a great amount of respect for the past greats and am thankful for what Laver and others did to make global tennis real. I think Laver is a great champion and a class act. I wish him all the best with his health.

2) I don't think TW posters are "idiots" no matter how much I may disagree with their opinions. I value the diversity of opinion on the boards.

3) I understand how many of my threads may have come across as obnoxious. I apologize.

In conclusion, I'd be happy to request for TW to remove the "idiot" poll thread.

I apologize if I've offended any of you.

Wow, this might be one of the most mature things I've seen in TW.

That being said, you probably don't owe an apology to anyone here. This is just a message board with anonymous people, which keeps much of the content from being serious commentary and thus worth worrying about.

You are too kind. However, consider the possibility that Chopin is taking you for a ride. Lately, for an undisclosed purpose of his own, s/he has taken to the following policy:
1. Create a poll or a thread
2. Drive traffic to it by creating a new thread and linking to the above.

Given past actions, would it be too much to suspect that, while ostensibly asking the TW moderators to delete the "idiot" poll, s/he is also trying to drive traffic to the "idiot" poll? I don't know, but Chopin was the person who cried "Wolf!"
 
I respect those who can analyze their behaviour and admit when they have been wrong. It takes maturity and an honest humbleness to do so.
 
No need for apologies, I like your threads. You don't take yourself too seriously, and your threads are refreshing. I found the Putin/Medvedev thread to be very interesting, actually, and a welcome change from the endless stream of Fed/Nadal/Murray/GOAT threads.
 
I have a sneaking suspicion that this thread is here because of the bans that have been made in the last day.
 
chopin's threads are funny in his own way.. that one about him completeing the stages to forum domination and everyone ending in talking about tennis abilities of classical musical composers was really going ok.. but somehow it got deleted...

No, no. I'm not afraid of TW banning me. Bring it on, I'd tell them. I make statements, and some people laugh and some people refer to me as "vile" human-being. It's the latter that makes me think people that they're taking me too seriously, so I just wanted to clarify.

Thanks GameSampras. I just thought the "idiot" poll might have been taken the wrong way by some, since I didn't literally mean that people were "idiots" if they voted for Laver.

But no one will see it in the "right place." I think you should spend more time policing the one sentence "should Nadal retire?" threads than my thought-provoking gems.

No, never. I still believe that Laver would stand no shot against Federer or Sampras (or Spadea) with a wooden racquet--I just think I could have gone about expressing the sentiment in a more diplomatic fashion.

Besides, I've got bigger concerns now--the TW administrators, in a misguided effort, are trying to control my vision for the boards.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. Ignoring the rules (on purpose) isn't going to do you any favors, though.

Also, if you happen to see these one sentence threads, and there is a post inside that you find objectionable (read: against the rules) feel free to report it. I will spend my limited, and valuable (to me) time working on it to the best of my ability (i'm not being sarcastic, here). There is no way i can read the entire message board, nor do I pretend to. I'll be lucky if i can read 1% in a day, so help me out if you think i'm doing such a bad job. I put a lot of time that I already don't have into trying to make this board a better place, playing it off as some 'little ol' thing" is personally offensive.

I'm not saying that you're doing a bad job, but if you actually read the responses to my threads you'll see that they're quite insightful and the dialogue going on within them is actually quite insightful. My argument is--if my posts are such misplaced spam, why do people have such meaningful discussions in them?

Even if the posts don't appear to relate to the forum--they often do. They're slightly satirical and relate to the forum they're posting in unique ways. In many ways, I'm one of the first postmodern posters on the board.

Thanks for your work as moderator.

Most people spell it was one word these days. And I'm not a full blown postmodernist that descends into incoherence; rather I make use of certain postmodernist techniques and sensibilities to, ironically, create something meaningful, if not inherent.

Well, I can see how my signature could be confusing. The postmodern part is distinct from me quoting your insult (I'm considerate enough not to name you).

I think it'll become more clear in time. I'm not going to be banned anytime soon because the administrators know that they can't stop me. If they did, not only would I be back in some form, but more than that, the power of my ideas would flash across the boards like an electrical storm.

You could quote me and use my name I frankly would not mind at all. I would watch what you say about not being banned any time soon. Their are other ways besides names if the administrators really wanted to get rid of you. They could attempt to ip ban you as well but then that has wholes but their are ways.

Besides then at least I can say I am the conservative snob who attacks the postmodernistic and feel like I am in some sort of backlash against a revolutionary movement.

Now, who exactly are you? (I don't recall a single post of yours, but again, apology accepted-hell, whatever you wrote couldn't have been all that bad).
