Any idea on what the 1030 or the bar code label on the hair pin mean?
There should have also been a barcode label on the shaft just above the grip but was taken off by the previous owner. The barcode was for was for quality control. It will tell the date it was made and the production batch on that day.

Got it. I guess that info is lost now, since that barcode sticker is likely long gone.

The one on the hairpin will give the info but only the people at HEAD can make sense of it. HEAD back during that time period put two barcodes on the racquet. One under the pallet and the other visible on the frame. It’s just the one on the frame was removed or fell off

I've played with the PT 280 in the past and foolishly sold it (not sure why). Now when I play with this 630, it just feels so much better than pretty much every other racquet I've tried. And due respect to the PT 2.0, Tec 315 Limited (2013 version), and the Radical Tour (I've played the Zebra) - these are sticks with extremely good feel, but the PT 630/280 is in a class of it's own and that is saying something. The only other stick that is somewhat close in feel is the Prestige Classic / TXP Pro; but the sweet spot on those is smaller due to the 90 sq in size.

The PTs let just the right amount of vibrations through; ample power for a stick that is as flexible and when strung low, the sweet spot is ample. I can see why these sticks are as revered and still sell for the prices they do.

Hi, I got in hold of this Trisys Pro 630. I own already all the common Pro Tours, 'shadow font', 'star trek' and trisys 280.
The weirdly named Trisys Pro 630 feels solid but definitely has a different weight distribution, maybe more like a Lite Tour to be specific.
Does anyone know more about the origins of the Trisys Pro 630? It has printed Made in Austria on the throat. Highly appreciated for any hints and specs. Cheers!

Hello guys, please, someone can tell my with certain what grip pallets I must search for the Head Premier Tour mid 600?

This one exactly: https://www.prostocktennis.com/products/head-premier-tour-mid-600-601

Forgive my ignorance, I do not understood very much about pallet change, it will be my first time.

The originals for this frame are the TK82 or TK219?

This are two different models of pallets?

Many thanks for the help, best regards to all.

Any head pallets will fit on most head frames, except for the Prestige Tour 600 naturally. The easiest you can find, new, today are the TK82 (rectangular shaped) or TK82S (square-ish/oval shaped) pallets.

That description of the Premier Tour 600 is completely wrong. It does not have a similar construction to the Pro Tour 280. The Premier Tour 600 is TwinTube construction while the Pro Tour 280/630 is graphite and Twaron construction.

It will not change the feel of the racket but will change the grip shape and how that feels

please tell me if you compare the pro tour and the pro tour 2.0, what is the stiffness there? The tour 2.0 has 64 as far as I understand, the old tour has less stiffness?

Original PT630 with the PT57A2 layup measures in the upper 50s, I’ve seen anywhere from 55-59RA strung.
The TGK57.5 layup in the PT2.0 does feel more modern and solid but definitely not stiff

is there a difference between the shadow font PT630 and Star Trek font? I have been playing with a Shadow Font now for nearly a year, love the racquet but trying to find a 2nd/3rd. All I see available at a decent price are the Star Trek fonts. Is there a difference outside of the font like RA, balance, weight etc. Thanks.

I prefer the Star Trek model. The shadow font one is too flexible for me. The difference is in RA only

Isn't there a difference in weight between star trek and shadow font also ? I mean, I think the so called star trek font came without CAPS, so if you put CAPS on them, they feel more head heavy than shadow font with CAPS

In my experience, generally, I have found Treks to indeed be heavier but having said that I've gone through some Shadows with quite a large weight difference ranging from 342g - 352g strung with dampener and og. There are Shadows that are MIA, others DIA, some versions with the "Head Barcode Label Inside" decals on the side of the throat and some without, so I reckon the weight differences are based on batch differences perhaps. I could be wrong. Most of the treks I've had are in the 350g+ range quite consistently, with CAPs, and are more head heavy as you've observed.

tk55a is the original grommets, some people use cap grommets instead.

That is a great find! I've used all the iterations except for this one, but the fact that it's made in austria makes it a keeper! I've not seen any specs on this version either.

Pallets from Prestige Pro 600 with sorbathane
9OON1hN.jpg

Can anyone comment on the history of sorbothane use in the Pro Tour racquets (i.e. early Made in Austria only)? I went to change my pallets and discovered my hairpin looks like the one above from vsbabolat. It appears I’ll need to do some dremeling on the new ones if I want to keep the inserts.

This was the phase when Head had the IDS (integrated dampening system) in their racquets. I don't quite remember the years but my 1995 Head Radical Trisys 260 had it. The IDS system was in the first iteration of that lineup that included the Radical 260, Pro Tour 280, which I believe vsbabolat said came out in 1993. It was the Trisys 150 all the way up to the 300 (Prestige)

Trisys 150 and 300 didn’t have IDS. The Trisys 150 and 300 had the Suspension Grip. Also sorbathane was on the hairpin in the mid 80’s. Interestingly my Prestige Classic no Sorbathane.

You can just peel the sorbathane off the hairpin. That’s what I did. Honestly I can’t feel a difference. Also my Prestige Classic doesn’t have it on there.

Hello! Everyone!!

Maybe I can join this club!
I just spotted this PT280 on my local flea market app. So I dig up this thread from the bottom and might thik this one from China version of PT280. (SMU... right...?)

As you can see in this photo below It doesn't have any "Designed in Austria" , "made in Austria" , "Head barcode label inside" print.

So is this racket is original PT280? or maybe just a fake model of pt280..?
Please let me know!

Hi everyone,

I've got a collection of about 7 or so Pro Tour 630s and have x1 brand NOS Pro Tour 630 in a 3 grip size, tape (Head barcode on grip) and David Wheaton as on the promo "tag".

On the Bay or alike what is the going rate on these frames? I've got photos so I'd love to share just they don't post for some reason?

Would possibly entertain selling it as I don't think I'll ever want to use it and I have 5 used ones that are in near new condition.

You may have a harder time selling them. I recently purchased 6 Pro Tour 2.0s for an average price of around $85 each.

I see the bay has quite high prices listing for the 280/630, but I haven't seen any of those actually sell

Hi you mention when strung low, can you help with the tension and strings that give you this ample sweet spot , I purchased one and have been trying to like it for about six months, I always have it in my bag but mostly play with my Radical OS Candy Cane and this racket I can feel the flex and love the feel I get from playing with it.
would like to make the PT 280 feel this way. any advise will be greatly appreciated.

There are a lot of PT 630 for sale online. Some with the most crazy prices.
And this for some time now.
The PT630 hype is over, and thats good.
Those who really want one, now have one or more and got enough.
And the new generation is not interested.
If selling the used ones, i suppose it will only sell with a "used" price and not the "gold" price.
The new one, maybe a higher price. But not sure.
I saw some new radical tour 630 for a high price and..... still for sale.
People moved on. And thats ok.

In Mexico where I live at the moment I can find at least three listings of PT280 all in good conditions no rash or chips on the frames, lowest at $30 USD and highest at $55 I was going to jump at them but don´t think I will. I purchased one some months ago and have not found the the goodness this racket has been praised for on the other hand I love the Radical Twin Tube OS Candy Cane Love the Flex in this racquet and Pop I get with Synthetic Gut.

The 280 was my racquet through high school and college and I'd not played with one in about 25 yrs. Foolishly sold all my frames about that long ago. Just for some nostalgia, I picked up the above racquet on the Bay and set it up as close as possible to what I'm now used to. Swapped the palette for a TK82S size 3, leather grip, 9g of putty in the butt cap and NO lead tape needed lol. Head Hawk 18 @ 50 lbs. Stock unstrung it was 320g and balanced 314mm. Playing form SW is around 337 I believe. Man I don't remember it feeling this heavy, but I guess that's what age does.

Figured I'd only hit with it occasionally for sh!ts and grins and I thought it would feel anemic, but played an hour tonight and was surprised what a heavy spinny ball it can produce as long as you prepare, get the racquet moving in time, and hit it decently clean. Back in the day I used synthetic gut at 62 lbs. and didn't get near the spin or launch angle...obviously. It's a real brickhouse sledgehammer and wow what great feel it has. I'd say the Ultra Pro with lots of weight added is probably the closest current racquet to the feel of the PT280. Very similar molds.

Fun little trip back in time, but still sticking with my pro stock Blade 98s as my main racquet. All time favorite for me.

PT2.0 user here. If you use these for the occasional hit, yes they can feel heavy. But stick with it... Everything else feels like a toy in comparison. I have some Gravity pros that I can throw in the mix, but if I borrow a friends Yonex or Blade, they feel lightweight and hollow

I hear ya and agree, though the pro stock blades have beefier hoops than retail and I love them. Even so, they're still about 332 SW in playing form with no lead. The 337 SW of the 280 feels significantly heavier. My current favorites of the stash. Now which to hit with today. :)

"But stick with it" - Couldn't agree more; It's like a coach, this type of frame. Will teach you the game like magic - you just have to pay with footwork and early preparation. PT57A user, sometimes TGK262.3 lately (this frame leads you towards a different kind of game), lots of fun as well
