    Hi All,

i bought a used PT280 MP(made in Austria) which is in ok shape for $40. The bumper guard needs to be replaced and some paint chips on the frame.

    Hope it's worth the money..

I ordered CAPPed as well as non capped grommets from TW. I hate CAPped grommets because of the stringing troubles i had. Still i am going to put the capped grommets on it.

Will post back my findings once i hit with it..

    Hi,

I had my first hitting session with PT280 and it was great. I think this might be the heaviest racquet i have used so far. I was able to generate good power with it. My arm was little sour after the session.

Will weight it to see how much heavier it is when compared to my LM Prestige MP.

I didn't string it . I played with what ever string it came with and not sure what customizations the seller might have made to it.

CAP Grommets for PT 630/ 280

Does anyone know where I can purchase replacement CAP grommets for the PT630 and 280? Do the CAP grommets fit both sticks?

The pattern is exactly the same in todays 18/20 630 Head Frames. the only difference are that on older CAP-bumpers, the "tubes" where the string enters are a little bit wider then on the MG/YT-grommets. I had for example a LM-line CAP-bumper that I installed on my YTPMP and it was an extremely tight fit into the drilled holes, specially in the bottom.

To use a MG/YT CAP bumper shouldnt be any problem at all to install.

As Hankenstein indicated, you can use any Prestige MP CAP (I've heard specifically the LM or MG versions). I've used the Flexpoint Prestige MP CAP in my PT280:
And I'd imagine YT prestige MP also works. (be sure to get MP not the Mid or Pro).

And for fun, here's a shot of my Austrian made babies:

I can't find the swing weight of pro tour 630 (made in Austria, non-trek letters) with full cap. My pro is 355 g with over grip.
If anyone knows it would be very helpful.

    Thanks

^^^It appears to be about 327:SW (if the rdc "inertia" value is sw) in stock form, so with CAP and overgrip, a little more than that...

I am fortunate enough to get another PT 280 for cheap. Condition 6/10.

I played with it last night and liked it when compared to the Capped version i already have.

May be i need to weight balance these to match my liking..

Haha...of course I will bring it. Just need to change the pallet, install finest calfskin and get it restrung....although I will cry during stringing. Better bring it to PK´s :)

    Thanks Chris!

Here's a question to the experts out there :

Is there any difference between PT57A and PT630 (Austria) other than probably the lower static weight that PT57A starts out with?

Asking b'cos I have never had a PT57A, but own a few PT630s and have never felt a need for customization outside of adding a few inches of lead tape to get it to where I want it to be and just wanted to know if there is any difference or advantages to 57A over 630s if you are comfortable with the starting weight.

    Thanks.

    For all pro tour experts:
    i´m talking with a guy who´s offering me 2 pairs of PT630:
1 pair with i. prestige paintjob, fair condition (7/10)
1 pair with HEAD PREMIER 600 paintjob (yes, is a 630 and the paint says 600!!), also un 7/10 condition.
They are quite rare, but a dont know how much i should pay for them...

    This just kills me!

To think that at the same time this page was current, I spent $130-170+ for modern 'high-tech' rackets, when I could have been buying these instead. I couldn't have been bothered with those ancient 'old man' rackets back when I was in college. Idiot

If I had only known... :(

If you like full poly setup I can easily recommend Tecnifibre Red Code 18 (1.20mm). I have it strung @51/49 and have absolutely no arm issues I used to have with other polys, it's a very durable string, enables decent power and great access to spin.. effortlessly! What is more, control remains as solid as ever and feel is lovely. Give it a try and let us know your thoughts. Also, did anyone try full Black Code 17 at similar tensions??

    Different colour scheme

So, what do you Pro Tourers make of this paint job?

This is from David Wheaton's collection, of which I've 4 coming my way... and I've only just noticed that they're painted in a similar way to the PC600.

Anybody got any others like this?

I was thinking about bidding but had nightmares about the amount of import it'd cost into the UK, those 15 SE1 frames he was selling looked interesting too didnt they? Did you stay up to bid Alzer?

^^ I set my alarm to wake me up at 3:30am :D - I saw the SE1 but seeing as I have TGK238.5s I fancied trying a softer setup

I used my work address so they should foot an import bill should there be one ;) Either way it should hopefully be worth it as I reckon selling them individually I'd get more than my money back - Not that I plan to do that.

The winning bids were not that high at all for the new PT630s - somewhere in the neighborhood of $200/ea. The used ones went for about $150. I thought about bidding for them but decided against it since I have already too many PT630 and PC600 racquets already. It's hard to resist the temptation, however.

BTW: Just missed the opportunity to buy two Prestige Master at a bargain price (<$10 /each).

You're correct i think they'd of gotten more money if they were not all listed at the same time.
The prestige frames reached a fair bit though didn't they.

$400 for the Prestige 600 (lime-green) was way too much for my taste. All 6 of them were won by one bidder for $2,400 USD.

    That's humorous.
It might be a while. The SE version is probably very similar but slightly stiffer.

My friend bought around 15 rackets, each costed 15e. So he gave me all of them to try them out, and I ended up liking pt630 the most. I didn't even know what racket that was, I just liked the way it felt, it felt so solid on contact, best feel ever!!

So count me in the club. Got 2 over-grips on bare handle (because handle is #4, too big for me...anyway to make it smaller?????), rubber band instead of normal dampener = 340g total.

I never knew I could play with such a heavy racquet! I am even considering leading it up somewhere in the head.

I have a 280 and to be honest I played ****e with it.
I've left it lying around for ages and i'm looking to sell it but just can't help the amount of good reviews it gets and MIGHT give it another go?

I was wondering where it was made?
Can someone point me in the right direction?
I know it says Made in Austria on side but not all of them are? some finished where ever I don't know..

Inside throat just says tension, no barcodes anywhere.
