Its still going strong as far as I can see.
Switching to the UT?
I think he's going over to the dark side.
Oh, no. Much worse.
But don't worry I haven't gone through with it yet.
Well, unfortunately I'll have to tell you they have a very low resale value here these days. To console you, I wouldn't mind taking them off your hands (I'll pay for shipment).
I just bought 2 PT-280s. My best guess is that these were manufactured in China models. They have old synthetic gut in them, but I'll probably end up trying a poly main/synthetic gut cross hybrid on them.
I used to play Head MP LM Radical, so I want to compare the feel to that racquet.
Please Take a photo of the racquets.
Pro Tour 630
CAPS grommet (it says TK57 on the grommet)
353g - (strung weight with Fairway leather grip)
Anyone know how old this version is?
Just got an old Pro Tour 630 from my friend. It's a bit scuffed up, but seems to play fine.
It had an old beat up grip on it, so I removed it and put a black Fairway leather grip on it.
Some unknown, cheap poly string in it. Hit a few groundstrokes with it and was pleasently surprised by the comfort and loud thud the racquet makes when you hit a groundstroke.
From reading this thread, am I correct to assume the Head Graphene XT Prestige MP Grommet will fit it?
I'd say that one is from 1996
Hit some groundstrokes for about 10 minutes yesterday with my PT630.
Had just played a couple sets of doubles with my Yonex 95D.
The launch angle of the PT630 seems to be a lot lower than the 95D. Also less power and spin. I think one of the reasons is that the previous owner had it strung with poly at a really high tension. I have not had a chance to restring it yet.
My 95D was just string with Volkl Cyclone 16 at 55lbs main / 53 lbs cross.
The PT630’s tension feels really tight. Maybe 60s. I will try restringing with synthgut since my reel of volkl just ran out. Just ordered a couple reels of volkl cyclone 17 and Solinco TB from TW.
Might try a putting in some inexpensive gut, also.
YES every version of prestige mp grommets will fit.
Since everyone in this forun keeps saying this is a great frame a gave it a try...
Very nice feeling it has lees power than my pure control tour but it is an amazing racket

Funny, I find the Pure Control way less powerfull than the PT280/630. Downright flaccid, in fact. Couldn't get it out of my hands fast enough!
Jaja yeah the pure control tour 2014 has been my main frame for like 1.5 years (ps 95 before that), it seems to have a bigger sweetspot than the pt280 but the pt280 has more feeling I’ll keep usint for a few weeks and see qhat happens

Which Pure Control?
It was possibly the one from around 2012-14?
Hello, I've been looking around this thread for a while and curious if there is a place where all the various blue 280s and 630s are explained in one place. My understanding is there were one designed and one made in austria, then also some from China and Czechoslovakia. In looking at some of the pictures I also see different font on these.
I am currently (have been for about 15 years) playing with the Xtra Long 28" (green - see my avatar) frames. Love them, but for a couple years have wanted a couple of the blue ones.
1. So what's the difference between 280 & 630?
2. How many different versions are of each? I know there are font differences, with and without barcodes, in addition to specs, so I'm lost.
3. How to spot a Chinese or Czechoslovakia version? Are they "not as good"?
btw, has anyone tried stringing their PT630 with full synthetic gut?
If so, how does it play?
I didn't try full syngut, but my pt630 is now strung with thin poly (main) + crisp multi (cross). I like crisp string bed in this comfy stick. Plays great although I have to work more to spin the ball.
Has anyone tried a PT630/280 with the red graphene CAP? I'm guessing it's a bit lighter than the others.
Cool if you're into Spider-Man I guess.
Or Super Man... or both... Personally, I'm into Wonder Woman... well women in general... You get the drift...
I don't judge them on their appearance but on how they play once we're on the court... the racquets, that is...
Never thought about the connection between Head and Marvel Universum.but yes..why not..
Haha I figured I'd get this type of response. I'm more interested in the different weights and CAPs available that function well. FIgured I'd post that picture here since I had read most of this thread and nothing was mentioned with that CAP.
I think that red CAP is a little lighter than the older ones (not sure by how much and how it compares to the MicroGel Prestige versions). You could also use the slightly shorter iPrestige version which would also be lighter (maybe even lighter than the red one) or the Flexpoint version which is again somewhere in between the MG Prestige CAPS and the iPrestige Cap... if I had to guess
The black CAPs are a little heavier than the the clear ones...by the way, do you know where to find new i.Prestige shorter CAPs?
I frequent a regular set of online retailers (TW, TWE, and local others) on a constant basis, and when ones become available, purchase them... sorry, it's not the answer I presume you were looking for...
How does the PT630 compare with the PK Redondo? I have the chance to get a PT630 and don't know if I should do it. Thanks!
YOLO, man. Do it.
