I've left my APD's, Rad Pro's and K90's and have gone back to my Extreme Pro's. I must say this is one great racquet. I added some lead in the throat and now I feel this racquet is a beast. Touch, Feel, Power, Control, Maneuverability, this frame does everything well. It received one of the highest scores ever on TW and I can see why. I'm surprised this frame doesn't get a lot of love on here but I think it definitely deserves a club. Swings and feels similar to my K90's when i put lead in the throat.

If you love this frame please list string, tension and mods!!! Thanks

1) Volkl Cyclone: 16 gauge @ 45 lbs / 3 grams of lead in the throat and 6 grams of lead in the buttcap

I tested the MP once and really love the feel and the ease you get your shots over the net and deep.

Unfortunately I can not adjust to the round head and for some reason I noticed that the cosmetics are more important than i thought. I didnt really like the looks of the frame.

Can you compare it to the APD. My APD are customized heavier and I never got around to demoing the extreme pros. Just curious on what made you make the switch

The Head has more power, more feel, the string bed feels softer and the slices are more penetrating. Swings more like a player's frame where the APD is moreso a tweener. You'd have to try it out. I added more weight to the throat as I mentioned.

I don't know if I'd say the Head is superior to the Bab, just different. It's a matter of preference.

I use the extreme pro 2.0 as well.

Strung with Solinco Tour bite @ 45 lbs :)

oh and 6g of lead at 12"o clock.

I've got four Extreme 2.0s and experimenting between Focus Hex, Black Widow and Tour Bite Soft all at 57 lb.

Terrific racquet for the advanced player, as you need to have a fast swing to tame its power. I get great spin and power on serves and grounded, and the sweet spot is larger than my old Wilson Six Ones. Plus, it has great plow through (no tape needed for me) and balance (6 pts head light). Plays softer than its stiff rating belies, as I think the Head's grommet system really works.

Got (5) 2.0s... Not thrilled about the paint job but it plays great!

Had Alu-Power Spin and Rough (cross) hybrid for a while, and this setup almost produced too much spin, if it is possible. It is a bit annoying when your hitting partner keeps mishitting balls, because your ball jumps so much...

I then switched to Big Hitter Black 7 and it is a bit more comfortable. I have the tension down to 50/48. It works well, but it is a little harder to volley with this string due to trampoline effect with this soft string, so I may explore other strings over the winter.

I used to do different tensions for main vs. cross full poly, but with this racquet head having a very round shape, does anyone notice a difference or think it's beneficial?

I have one Extreme Pro and 2 extreme MPs. I've tried to weight up the mps to be more like the pros by putting a crap load of weight in the throat, but I think my best bet is to just track down a few more Pros. Huge fan of this racket after a very long time searching for the right one and over 50 playtests.

My last few string setups have been

Tecnifibre X-One BiPhase 17
56
Approx hours: 2

Volkl Cyclone 17
58
Approx hours: 12

Volkl V-Pro/Head Synthetic 16 PPS
Approx hours of play: 7 hrs
59

Luxilon Big Banger Alu Power Full Bed
Approx hours of play: 12-13 hrs
60

Luxilon 4G
Approx hours of play: 10 hrs
53.7

Natural Gut/ Volkl Cyclone
Approx hours of play: 10-12 hrs
57

Yonex Tour Super 850
Approx hours of play: 5 hrs
56/54

Currently using
Still in Black SELECT
@ 54 in a full bed, and it feels actually really nice.

I have a bunch of strings left on my playtest list, will let you know how they go.

Love the awesome feel of this racquet but I seem to be getting some shoulder pain playing with it. It's likely due to its heavier weight than what I'm used to with my Steam 99S, TFight 320.

Going to keep playing with it when I can to see if the shoulder issues will go away before pulling the trigger on a few more.

Is there another Head racquet that feels similar but a tad lighter with the same or lighter HL balance?

I'd suggest stringing the Extremes below 50. I string at 45 and love it. Let us know how you like them compared to your APD's after you've received and hit with them for awhile.

I would hybrid my K90's with VS Gut (mains) and Lux (crosses). The Lux always broke before the gut. I was getting a few months before any breakage. The durability of gut is vastly underrated IMO. But of course I'm in a hot dry climate. Very little humidity or rain.

It could be either a hl issue or sw issue. The Pro's have a high sw. Try the extreme mp or the jokers stick (they have the exact same specs btw). The reason this frame is recommended for 4.5 players and above is the high sw!!

The APD is more head heavy but the sw is a lot lower btw. Making it quite usable for beginners.

Hey Sweet-Spot. How does the MP compares to the Pro in terms of comfort? TW's comfort rating on the MP is much lower than the Pro for some reason.
How much weight did you have to add to the MP for it to swing & play similar to the Pro?

I have 2 Extreme Pro 2.0s strung with Solinco Tour Bite 17. Still playing with the tension - currently at 41-44 but may end up a tad lower. Any advice on whether to use lead and why? It plays pretty well as is for me but I have not really experimented with led on this frame.

They feel very similar, but I have had different strings on them so I can't say for sure until I use the same strings.

I added about 60 cm of lead tape to the throat to approximate the pro. Although it doesnt feel exactly like the pro, its fairly close, and I could comfortably switch in a match and not be too fazed. I could add more in the grip, thinking about trying it this weekend as havent had much time to stuff around.

This is one of the heavier rackets on the market anyway, so I'd be cautious adding more lead tape unless you are a very strong player. There is a point of diminishing returns where the stability and plough through of the frame does not benefit the loss of reaction time that occurs from such a heavy racket. When youre playing against big servers you have a split second to get the racket in position... the heavier it is the harder it can be at a certain point.

How much lead does Gasquet stick on his? I can see he keeps a leather grip which would definitely add some weight

Not sweet spot, but big fan of the Pro. I see no reason to add lead. Adding lead does two things 1) increase power, absolutely no need stock plenty of power. 2) increase sweet spot also no need it's huge on stock. Also since powerful you need to maintain rkt head speed for spin and control more lead will defeat that purpose.
So just my 2 cents

I also have gone back to Extreme Pro 2.0 tried the 2013 blades both string patterns enjoyed 18x 20 but bottom line just win more with Extreme Pro, similar win record with PDR but liked feel, manueverabilty better with Extreme also no arm issues with either but extreme just more comfortable agree with TW comfort s core.
No modification needed for me. Use hybrid TW sells RPM Blast crosses at 53 ,VS Gut mains 55

Hi
Im not really a racket tinkerer but im thinking of removing the original grip and installing a leather one and then my overgrip. This would add slightly more weight but make it more head light I assume?
Has anyone done this? Can you shed any light on how it plays and how many points head light it becomes?
Thanks

i put a TW leather grip on one of mine 2 weeks ago-- then a fresh tacky overgrip - the bevels are SO much more apparent with the leather compared to the hyrdosorb or whatever it was that came off-- so much better feel that i ordered 2 more leather grips (just got today) and will be redoing my other racket to match. it was hard to compare the 2 different strings when i was so much more in favor of the grip on one i didnt use my other racket as much to compare the different strings

How did it affect tbe balance? Was it noticeable as tbe leather would be a bit heavier than the original grip?

43-47 with cyclone and gosen 17 og-- im not sure how much difference there was between them yet-- i think i could hit harder with the full poly but that might be my imagination

Is there any difference between the Extreme MP 2.0 and Extreme Pro 2.0 grommets? I'm sure they are the same, but I've been told they have different product codes in Head's computer system so there should be a difference even if very minor.

Im going to order a wilson leather grip in the week and see how it feels.

If I like it ill do the same to my other one. If not, no biggie.

I tried a 6.1 95S, 6.1 95 (18×20), Graphene Speed Pro and Graphene Rad Pro in the last couple of weeks.

The Extreme is for me definitely the best racket of this bunch. Its a well kept secret as not many people use it where I play.

The Graphene Rad Pro is very very nice though.

Im waiting to hear of a Graphene version of the Extreme. Im sure its nearly been out 2 years and is due a change?

That would be the only racket id potentially switch too

Which one should I buy?

I've been playing with an older Head Extreme (yellow, just before the lime green paint jobs) and like it. Demo'd the Extreme 2.0 MP and Pro today and very much love them. Definite improvement over my older Extremes and I'll be buying a few.

Problem is which one to buy???

After 60 mins on the ball machine, I could tell very little difference between the MP and Pro. After pulling up the spec's on TW site, I see very little difference in spec's. 0.3oz heaver, 4 pts more head light, but lower swing weight... In my hands, I can't feel it at all -- and I'm a recovering racquet and string tinkerer.

'Playing a match with them tomorrow and will see if I can tell any difference there.

In my old Extreme's, I had them leaded up in the handle to 340g each -- which makes me think the Pro version is best suited for me. Any opinions?

Also, I used everything under the sun in my old Extremes but settled on VS Touch Mains and MSV Evo crosses in mine at 56/52. Felt good, but have always wondered if Evo is best choice for crosses. Thoughts for another cross string?

cartel

Rookie
a smooth poly cross works well on this-- but this racket is fairly arm friendly with full poly--

cyclone and PTP both seem to work well-- alu rough was awesome but last 3 hours before it goes "dead"

ive tried a lot of stringing combos both with nat gut and poly hybrids-- theres another thread just for this racket on stringing

my two extreme pro 2.0s just came and one is 339gr(strung + overgrip) other one is 329gr(strung + overgrip).

how do you compare the extreme pro to the graphene rad pro?

Thanks in advance

Rad Pro felt slightly softer and it felt like I could swing slightly quicker. Thats probably negligable though. Rad Pro is great in all areas and had slightly better control but less pop and spin.
EP 2.0 has more pop and spin and still has great control.
I could easily change to the Rad Pro but I think the EP 2.0 is better for me and my game.
I let my mate who plays with a BLX 6.1 95 and is thinking of changing to a bigger frame use both in a match.
His comments are that be can servebetter with the Rad even though he liked the EP 2.0 on serve. He preferred the EP 2.0 on the ground particularly the one handed back hand

He loved both too.

You cant go wrong with either tbh.

Gasquet's racquet is a PJ, it is actually an old XL Instinct. Clearly a different shaped head if you look at any pictures.

Pro vs MP

I've hit about 1500 balls each with the Extreme 2.0 MP and Pro and can hardly tell a bit of difference on groundstrokes and volleys. I do seem to be able to hit kick and slice serves a tiny bit better with the Pro, likely due to it be a little more HL.

Is there really any definitive reason to buy the MP over the Pro, or vice versa? Seems strange to me that Head would make two variants of the same racquet so very close... i.e. I used to play with Radicals and it was obvious when hitting with the Pro vs the MP... Just not so with these new Extremes...

FWIW I played the last 3 years with the old yellow Extremes -- and really liked them. Yet, this new 2.0 Extreme is so much softer. It feels like all the good quality of Dunlop racquets without the dead feeling I personally didn't care for...

I tried a leather grip on mine and felt I got less spin. Perhaps because the leather made the grip larger than what i prefer. And, I keep going back and forth between the Extremes and my K90's. Certainly a bad idea!!!

Yes i played with it a couple hours ago.

it has pro hurricane tour 17 with 25kg
and i got semi western forehand grip with topspin and single handed backhand

For groundstrokes i get huge improvements.i can swing as fast as i want without any doubt on hitting too long with both sides.and extreme pro much much much more stable even if u hit outside of sweetspot then APD and extreme pro got nice plow through(these are why i want to change to Extreme pro).Shot placement is nice also.Just take this racquet and hit groundstrokes all day long.
For serves i think there were no huge differences between APD and Extreme pro.both has good amount of power and spin.
For returns i like Extreme pro much more.Because i like more mass and swingweight for returns.its so stable.
i usually dont go to net but i never have any issue with Extreme pro for volley.

for summary :) im baseliner even behind of baseline. So these improvements that i get from groundstrokes really made me to switch to it and im not looking back. But you need to be comfortable with different grip shape and head shape which extreme pro has.
(sorry for my poor english:( )

I agree that the Extreme is just a superior frame when compared to the APD. This became more apparent as I hit with both. It feels like the Bab is made of a softer more porous material than the Extreme, which is just rock solid. Even the flight and trajectory of the ball is more piercing, with more plow through.

Thanks for sharing your experience between the two. My all time fave is still my K90's but the Extreme is my fave larger head thicker beam frame.

Thanks for the info. Just confirmed for me as I just ordered 2 more Pros.

I'd suggest you get TW Matching Request service ($10) when ordering them. You can specify to go for spec, lighter or heavier depending on what they find. Head racquets seem rather bad with quality control in terms of matching spec weight.

Mine single Pro I'm using right now is on the heavier side for my liking so I've ordered some lighter than specs with TW MRT service.

Arm pain?

Has anyone experienced arm pain after switching to this racquet? I used the use the lighter S version. After switching to the pro, I am loving the way I play but get terrible arm pain after I play... It is strung with multi in the mains at 55 and poly crosses at 52.

Arm pain is the main reason I am switching TO this racquet. I play with the earlier generation Extreme and Radical MPs. To me, the Extreme Pro 2.0 is EASIER on the arm. Very cushioned feel.
