I here my fellow Djokovic Bro's. One last step and we must cross it together! And we will! King Djoko is claiming career slam and moving up in the ATG list! On his way to GOAT hood
How sweet it is: Novak wins despite being mediocre at net and hitting outright passing shots, and, if he won even ONE lob attempt in about 10 attempts, I don't remember it. Virtually any other player would've been deflated after that awful tiebreak, blowing six, count 'em, SIX set points. Even the rain delay could've hurt him, as it usually does to the player with the momentum, but he shrugged all of that off and showed what a great player he is. Roger, my 2nd favorite favorite player, didn't have anything to be ashamed of, IMO. Novak gets to shut up all those "can't win multiple Slams in a year" nitwits, and is poised to rake up a three spot at Flushing Meadows. Can't wait...
I'm pretty sure it was actually 7 set points that Novak blew... but it's all academic anyway
So now Federer is your Number 2 fave... I recall for years you saying Fed was your Number 1 fave and Novak Number 2.... when did that viewpoint change and why?
Fed's lack of graciousness sometimes(Serena had the same problem, though not nearly so pronounced in recent years). His implying that Novak was lucky to hit a screaming service return winning while down match point against him at the US Open didn't sit well with me at all. Whatever else you wanna say about Novak, he doesn't make comments like that and often applauds his opponents winners, which I don't see from Fed or anybody else. Fed's stubbornness in playing Nadal got wearing after awhile, as well. Having said that, I enjoy Fed's style noticeably more than Novak's, so if Novak had to lose, then I'd want it to be to Fed.
We both agree that Fed had that 'up himself' type vibe when things went smoothly for him (eg Always letting us know just how many titles he's won in a particular tournament) + whimpering about the aforementioned shot that Novak hit when he should just cop it on the chin has left a bad taste in my mouth.Agree on Novak when he loses, out of all the shining examples out there for someone at home to pick on how they conduct themselves when they lose Novak is the prime example. What was that comment that Jimmy Connors used to say?... Something about there's no such thing as a good loser (or something like that)... Novak always handles it with class no matter how painful his loss.Unlike some,he doesn't use an oh-so convenient alibi such as 'I was injured before the tournament,no' or 'I lost last year because my knees were hurting',no' just like one of your bugbears has done in the past
The bittersweet thing for you then now is that had your 'New Number 1 fave' not screwed up at the French both your male and female faves would've been going into the US OPEN chasing the calendar year grand slam... That's something I don't think (from the top of my head) has ever happened before.
WHO is that Guy at 0:23???
I believe it's Stan Smith, 1971 US Open and 1972 Wimbledon Champion.

Haha, I'm still buzzing from yesterday's match mate. Incidentally Novak now has 200 wins in GS matches alone and has now defended titles on all 3 surfaces. He's defended a non AO title for the first time, has a second multi-slam season and is now a 3 times Wimbledon champion like Becker and McEnroe. I'm expecting someone to pinch me and tell me I'm dreaming lol.Happy days my fellow brethrens. We all stood by our king Novak and he delivered again. What a champ! Let's celebrate
Thanks Tiger!
I don't qualify as a 'Novak Brethren' but I know class, talent and grit when I see it! Congratulations Novak!
As a Fed fan it slightly pains me to say it, but I expect quite a few more majors from Novak. He is the class of the ATP at present...
Oh, my thread.
