They brought actor Vivek and vaccinated him to bring awareness. He got a heart attack the next day and passed away within 24 hours.
Wow. Sad. Goodnight funnyman.
:(

CHENNAI: Actor Vivekh, who suffered a heart attack on Friday, had a 100% block in his left artery and it may not be related to Covid vaccination, said Dr Raju Sivasamy, vice-president of SIMS hospitals.

Chennai:
The Election Commission is singularly responsible for the second wave of Covid and should probably be booked for murder, the Madras High Court observed today in the sharpest criticism yet of crowded campaigns for the five state polls that continued in the middle of raging virus cases. The court has threatened to stop the counting of votes on Sunday if a "blueprint" is not in place.

The Election Commission will react after it sees the order, sources say.

"Your institution is singularly responsible for the second wave of COVID-19. Your officers should be booked on murder charges probably," the Madras High Court told the Election Commission.

The election body had failed to enforce Covid safety rules like masks, sanitisers and distancing during campaigning despite court orders, said the High Court.

"Were you on another planet when the election rallies were held," Chief Justice Sanjib Banerjee questioned.

I know a couple who booked tickets for a honeymoon to Hawaii late last year. They canceled because the test results did not arrive in time.

These passengers all tested negative before boarding and now at least 1/3 are positive after landing. This 72 hour testing window is useless.
If you want to get serious about testing, test the passengers at the airport prior to boarding or upon arrival. But this 72 hour test window is inconvenient to travelers and will destroy the tourism industry. Hygiene theatre.

Prediction models say it will peak till May 17 and decline from there

The numbers being reported from the corrupt Indian government officials are a joke and simply can not be believed. But even with the vast underreporting, case numbers are breaking records.

I guess this will be another tribute thread that bites the dust, a victim of the politically viral infection from the same carriers. Thanks to the usual suspects!

Let's not get into politics, guys.

Thanks a lot to all of you for sending over medical supplies and hopefully a large shipment of vaccine.

I've given a holiday to my staff and am busy in the kitchen again. Wondering if it's safe to go to the hospital and get my second shot.

Barkha Dutt's father passed away the other day. She could not get a hospital bed for him. Then she could not get a place to cremate him. Three families were fighting over one spot.

Vistara airline, run by Tata SIA Airlines Ltd., said it ensures "strict compliance with all guidelines issued by the Indian as well as the destination countries’ authorities for all flights." :sneaky:

The article says that the five hour flight from Delhi to Hong Kong was packed.
McDonalds is limited to 25% seating capacity but a plane is allowed to fly at 100% capacity?

It depends if people are allowed to take out their face masks?
To eat, I guess yes.

To eat, I guess yes.

Article says passengers on the packed plane were being served meals. That cannot be allowed on flights operating at 100% seating capacity. Water breaks only.

Are these people not capable of sitting for a few hours without eating? They want to risk their lives to stuff their faces?

Don't these celebs check in to private hospitals? No beds available there either?
No beds available in any hospitals. Nor oxygen.

Yes, they do check into private ones.

She admits in an interview that even with all her connections she could not get a bed. So what would be the plight of the ordinary Indian.

I hear you are still refusing to flatten the curve.

I am taking Suo Moto cognizance of this.

Oh no. The peak deaths seem to be 13k per day, and then they sharply fall.
Somewhere I had heard that the decline will be gradual.

It will pass. People said India will collapse during the first wave. It was relatively unaffected due to the fact that several other countries had more aging demographics (which India will have in 30 years) and were colder (plus immunity developed due to bad hygienic conditions as described in a paper to Cell by Indian scientists).

This time also the doomsday numbers will not be seen. Also, many places in India don't seem to having much problem. Kerala has a socialist government which educates its people very well, and took preemptive steps, and is now exporting O2 to other states. Like in the US, the problems are more in right-wing states and less in socialist-minded states. Like in the US, the problem was created by right-wing powers which encouraged mask-less crowded election rallies and mass Hindu religious gatherings to get votes, and the price is being paid by all. The parallels are striking and show how destructive right-wing forces are, literally killing people.

Life will get back to normal from June 10.

US has put India on Level 4 travel advisory

There are flights operating to India and you should have little fear of landing there, particularly as you are vaccinated. But the risk is that the U.S. might suspend flights from entering. This is what Australia did and now its citizens are stuck waiting for repatriation flights.

Also note that U.S. has put Australia on Level 3 Travel Advisory.

The U.S. Do Not Travel list now includes Canada, Mexico, Germany and the U.K. A Level 3 warning is in place for a smaller group of nations, such as China, Australia and Iceland. Japan is also on the Level 3 list, despite a worrying rise in new coronavirus cases there.

Just a week ago, only 33 countries were on the U.S. Do Not Travel list, according to a cached version of the advisory site. But the State Department warned on Monday that the list would soon include roughly 80% of the world's countries.

We still have people dying due to O2 shortage in large hospitals in Delhi over a week after ths problem has hit the roof. Yesterday,
it was 10 or more people in Batra Hospital including a senior doctor.

Life will get back to normal from June 10.
Yes, for those of us who did not lose a loved one, and those people who haven't lost their jobs and whose business has not gone kaput.
We still have a lockdown here (in Delhi) and that has been extended by a week again.
We still have a vaccination shortage.

I suppose life will get back to "normal" because almost everyone would have got infected, and the virus won't be able to spread for another few months. Is that what you mean ?
