Think about it: Djokovic has just fired his entire team (except guru Pepe) and we have no idea how that will turn out, even though many on this board believe that his poor form so far in 2017 will continue. It's very unclear in what shape Djokovic will come into RG. Murray hasn't been playing well either, and he'll really have to show his worth during the two upcoming Masters tournaments. Still, just like in Djokovic's case, they have little time to go from poor form to top form.
That's why I think that Rafa's biggest threats at RG will be the one-handers. And by one-handers I'm not exactly thinking of Thiem, even though he hasn't been playing badly by any means. But is he really ready to take down one of the big 4 at a Slam? I don't think so.
I'm rather thinking of Wawrinka and Federer. We all know that Wawrinka has a switch that he sometimes find during Grand Slam tournaments. And if that Stan shows up, well, that could be one helluva match vs Rafa. Federer is playing very differently this year against Rafa and now has the confidence to continue to do so. Though Rafa will undoubtedly be the favourite if these two square off, I still think Federer would have a good shot, especially if the match takes place in the quarterfinal or semifinal.
What do you guys think? Who is Rafa's biggest threat at RG?
Just a little reminder of what Wawrinka can do when he's on song:
