The painful downfall of Diego Schwartzman

How do you think Rosewall and Laver would have done if they had been born half a century later?
Thing is back then a different skill set was emphasised, and volley prowess, agility and touch aren't exactly exclusive to tall guys.

Now with the combination of strings, racquets and the modern meta the height advantage is amplified cus it's so much easier to harness that power for power-baselining unlike before, and technique/touch-based players need at least a certain foundation of power to survive. And in response to this shorter guys kinda needa be scrappy, nimble and have good stamina to be able find their niche.

Diego is an amazing player a fighter that run for every point hmmm is it possible to compare Diego with guillermo coria?

With the abilities and possibilities of both. I think a lot more could have been done with both of them.

In his last 10 tournaments, Mr. Schwartzman has lost his opening round match 9 times. 9/10. This streak stretches back to Vienna of last season. He most recently lost to Nicolas Jarry in the first round of Santiago.

He’s currently live ranked as #38 in the world, and is turning 31 this year. Diego himself has admitted that it’s not been going good at all. His fathers illness has bogged him down mentally and physically he can’t bring himself to perform at a high level.

A former top 10 player, he’s had numerous classic matches vs Djokodal over the years, and he’s a very nice guy as well. It’s been a difficult downfall to watch. Where next for Diego?

I wouldn’t write him off yet. Could he fall off a cliff? Yes, tennis is a brutal sport. But if he can get past his side issues he’s a special player.

Diego needs to stop playing from so far behind the baseline. His flatter strokes don't push opponents back rather, his opponents are on their baseline while Diego plays 3 feet behind the baseline on his side of the court. Diego needs to return to hitting on the rise to put his opponents on the defensive. If he's playing with a 98 square inch racquet then he should consider moving up to a 100 square inch one for slightly more power and to help him hit on the rise more often.

little diego lost?..not a surprise, two italian monsters facing each other next round

Just 31. He has few more years to play good tennis.

Argentinian sportsmen while sometimes gifted with God given talent are notorious mental midgets. One of the reasons Diego is a GOD to them, he was gifted with both talent and a lion’s heart.

He already reached his ceiling, no room to grow anymore, all he can do now is go down, and behold the things from bellow.

Let's see. Can you please explain with certified information, whether Schwartzman decline started after, or before he began training at the Rafa Academy?
Thanks.
Diego practiced at Rafa's academy for about one week in May 2017, May 2018 and October 2020. His ranking went up.

The painful downfall of Diego Schwartzman

I don't think any of Diego's downfalls could be painful just because of his enhanced closeness to the ground.

OK, forgive me. I am now stopping with this sophomoric humor.

three 2-1 wins in a row for little diego, congrats.. next stair is a south american derby is waiting for him

You should call him and save his career.
