The players actually are trying at the Laver Cup, I can't understand why.

It's really a garbage event and so uncharacteristic for tennis. You group players who are supppsed to be rivals in the middle of a season and make them play with eachother in a team event.

Zverev literally trash talked and tarned Tsitsis name in the media all through the US Open and now they are playing with eachother? I tuned in for a few minutes in the Z and Isner match and saw Tsitsipas rooting for Zverev lmao! I turned it off. Those few minutes was enough for me for this year.

Shut it down.

The bench reactions are fake and scripted. However the matches and the players spontaneous reactions to winning or losing important points are not.

Diego Rublev had a mammoth battle yesterday. And it didn't look one bit scripted.Isner was monstrous in his doubles match.

The players want to win, and that results in awesome matches. So not exactly a garbage event.

More like an event which really has no solid context and yet ends up providing good matches

Would it be less confusing to you if it was a series of exhibition matches?

The fake reactions are in keeping with the fake crowd, they go hand in hand. If it was in Europe it would be more genuine.

It’s a team format which is something pretty unique in tennis. Only the ATP Cup and Davis Cup provide a similar feel. You’re not just playing for yourself, your playing for your team/country, so for them it’s a big deal

It's important because you don't have any excuses if you lose. If it's a tournament you can just say "Well I gave it my best shot but I had a tough draww.... I had a bunch of long maatches.... it was hot that dayyy". You have the opportunity to show what you can do at your full force. Only ones with defeatist attitudes wouldn't take these matches seriously.

Laver Cup gives you the benefit of no excuses, all your rivals are right there on the court, watching you, and judging you.

Borg does not transmit anything.
Back in the 70’s that was so cool with the long blond hair, now it’s so boring.
Since he started that trend it has never gone out of style in the tennis world. Every player who could grow hair like that has done so at some point.

It's after all the slams near the end of the season, good way to drum up some more interest until the WTF. Tis a looooooong season.

Certainly doesn't follow script of an exhibition.
Come on u gotta make it competitive.
7 wins in 8 matches in first two days. Its a massacre

The thing that I don't like about the Laver Cup is that it upstages and takes key players away from Davis Cup matches the week before. In short, the Laver Cup - a meaningless exhibition with a lot of prize money - is killing the Davis Cup's longstanding tradition. It's more than a shame. Racquet companies now are issuing special edition frames for the Laver Cup exhibition. Greece LOST in last week's Davis Cup tie because Stefanos Tsitsipas did not play though he's playing his heart out for an exhibition tournament the following weekend. The Davis Cup is MUCH MORE IMPORTANT than the Laver Cup exhibition tournament and their placement on the schedule needs to be much further apart time-wise so that both remain relevant and viable.

Get rid of McEnroe already. He clearly does nothing for Team World.
And seeing Patrick McEnroe on that bench is absolutely cringeworthy. This guy completed sucked as Head of Player Development for the USTA. You wanna know why there’s no relevant players from the US on the bench, the answer is Pmac.

Why is Davis Cup much more important? Just because it’s been around a long time? Don’t blame Laver Cup because players choose to play it over Davis Cup. Nobody is forced to play Laver Cup.
