The positive thread - share positive experiences here

Day 1 of 2008, and my local gym was open, so I went for a weights session.

It....was....great :D

(And it more than made up for the fact that today is the first day in 7 that I haven't played tennis :))

Man that is good... I have been in tennis hibernation since late October pretty much, only hit once or twice since then on warm days. Probably won't play much for at least another month or 2... am going to try to get a good base in the gym before then. I just remembered you're down under... grr summer. haha tis ok, enjoying winter up here, hasn't been very bad in NC at all.

Good to hear it's not too painful up there, but stop reading now if you don't want to be jealous... Here it's been a summer that took a long time coming (very rainy and unusually cool spring), but in the last week or so, it's hit properly, temps of 30 degrees C (86 F) every day, and for my positive of the day...

I'm about to hit again today, making it 7 days out of the last 8, and it is smack on 30 right now too. Hot, and the courts will be great :D

Double positive: Those at my club 'just remembered' that they sell a 'player's card', meaning that for about $120 US today I will get my 2008 membership and the player's card: free play whenever there is a free court at daytime (14 courts = always availability) for the entire year. Hoorah!

Okay, I have started off the new year with a bang - in other words a flu (same as last year), but since this is the positivity thread I'll keep on track. I went to the drugstore for some stuff tonight - juice, throat lozenges, cough syrup, etc, etc, and would you believe it? There is not one single bottle of Buckley's to be found. Hahaha! So long sucker! I instead was "forced" to pick up a sweet bottle of grape flavoured stuff which is so much more enjoyable than the paint thinner tried and true taste of the big B. I am feeling quite positive that this flu will be over soon. :)

Ok - so expanding on the same positive here, the hit turned into a 4hr mega-hit with many people, rotating dubs sets over & over - too much fun, played until we pretty much couldn't see the ball.

just had one of the best weekends of my life.
about to start the tennis season @ my JC.
going to be getting married in 6 months... JUNE 28th!!!
my four siblings and parents are doing well.
God has been good to us.

I have one!!! *jumping up and down*

I was awarded my first ever grant! Got the letter today! :)

Congratulations Topaz! Perhaps that grant means that you’re granted an audience, with somebody really important like El Jefe/Sup2Dresq or Drakulie …

^^Thanks granite!

Although it was awesome to meet you>> it wasn't too good of an experience to play against you. LOL

Happy New Year to you and your loved ones.

Thanks Bad Dog and Orange One...it was my first crack at an education grant! I promise to use it wisely! :)

^^^^ Congrats on the grant Topaz!! I'm sure the kids will appreciate it.

On a more serious note: Any chance I could convince you to get some of those funds and take me out partying?? LOL

Oh, don't worry, I keep the partying funds in a separate account!

On a more serious note: You keep being such a gracious host, and I will have no choice but to party with you! ;)

congrats Topaz!

Thanks! It is actually going to be used to supplement the music program and to bring in some visiting artists, so I'm very excited about it!

tennis season starts this wed! i guess a transfer came in from Arizona... that should be fun! i am looking forward to earning myself a spot and working hard.

^^ just got back from practice, it went well! only 10 guys showed up, but others will be coming in (from japan and chile). i am excited to be working out and playing tennis everyday... hope my body holds up.

When I was younger I walked past an unfamiliar part of the city and all of the sudden I was called by a very very friendly lady "hi buddy, who are you looking for?".

I was really young and shy and I didn't really look at her and I just walk past her very quickly.

Anyway, later on my folks told me that the area is a red light district lol.

I had to ask my folks what "red light district" means, lol.

Dear Board Members,

Just wanted to give you a quick (and honest) recap of what went down today at the club.

Today, we hosted 134 matches — yes, you read that right — in one day.
We battled through a two-hour rain delay, thanks to the incredible effort of our team, parent volunteers, and the magic of the VAPTR system to get the courts playable again.
Later, we copped another rain delay, but play resumed and the last ball was struck at 9:45pm tonight.

A few absolute legends deserve a special shout-out:

  • ...
  • ...
  • ...
  • Pizza was organised for our night-time players and crowd — a small gesture, but a massive lift for everyone’s spirits
  • Suresh — always there, steady and reliable, helping wherever needed

I had a nice drive with a friend to Canton, Georgia last week. It was really, really pretty. And we stayed overnight at a Hampton Inn that was quite satisfactory. Ate at an O’Charleys which was delicious (French Dip sandwich and chocolate icebox pie). Bought a few things at a Bealls store including a pink Adidas tennis skirt. The next day we went to the Georgia National Cemetery which was the purpose of the trip. My friend’s husband had passed, he was a Veteran, and the service he had there was beautiful, amazing. All in all, a really awesome trip.

Positive?? Well, my tennis shoe laces didn't break! HaHa!
I've heard stories that before 1970, laces were made of cheap cotton,
and there was a chance they would break at any moment.

no more dispute as canada'll be usa no. 51 n greenland no. 52:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D...........
Posturing? Or just plain lunacy?

On the positive side — don’t see Canada ever allowing itself to become #51. It would be foolish for the GOP to follow thru on this THREAT anyway — cuz Canada’s middle is somewhat to the left of the US middle. Canada would undoubtedly be a solid Blue state and would have approximately the same number of electoral college votes as California.

So, the bottom line — and the good news — is that Canada will continue to remain independent of the US if the Orange Rogue is really serious about the neo-GOP staying in power.
