Hi, joining the club. In recent months I bought two Pro Staff Classic 6.1 95 18x20 (standard length) in decent to pretty good condition. I think they are both Taiwan models – one still has the Taiwan sticker on the butt cap. The latter has butt cap code ‘SAU’, the other one ‘SHV’. Both have white butt caps. The ‘Pro Staff Classic’ decals on the throat as well as the decals on the inside of the throat area differ. I will try to post pics soon.
Do share your collection here pls

I too have a small collection of 6.1's: two classics (16x18), one HPS 18x20 and one N-Code 18x20. And a clone by Slazenger, the Henman's Pro Braided, which I recovered with brand new 6.1 classic grommets.

I played with 6.1 classic and N-Code as my go to sticks, both 16x18, about 12 years ago (the N's) and early 2000's (the classics).

Today I'm digging more flexible sticks. Had serious TE. Still with Wilson (mainly), but I went back to my beloved 6.0 95's, my racquet before the classics

Still pick the N-6.1 from time to time. Its a fun hit, very loud racquet, amazing for volleying, and slicing backhands. Yet a bit too stiff for my liking.

Here’s mine, bought it in 1991 when I was a 13 year old Edberg fanatic :)
I recently regripped it with a new leather Wilson grip, it still has an almost new set of Babolat gut strings and will soon see service again after a 15 years playing break

I switched to the PSC 6.1 95 in 2001 apparently right before they were discontinued.

Around 2010 I picked up the K6.1 but they felt too different from the Classics - obvious much lighter, but the sweet spot felt further out and less forgiving of off-center hits (twist-weight, I guess). Hadn't discovered the joys of lead tape yet.

Stopped playing for a few years, came back and found the K6.1 with lead tape at 3 and 9 suited me just fine. Also picked up a near-new '14 6.1 95 and a brand new Hyper 6.1, almost hesitant to peel the plastic off the grip after 17 years!

Hi all, I would like to have some information on this Wilson Pro Staff 6.1 Classic, grip Fairway. Is it made in Taiwan? Could you tell me the exact year of the racket and his quote? Thank you

I’ve been playing with the Wilson Pro Staff 6.1 110 stretch since 1996. At this point I am so comfortable using it that it is simply feels like a natural extension of my arm.

FYI Imageshack doesn't allow direct linking to its images since 2016ish - you'll need to host the images elsewhere for us to see them.

Hello BorgCash,
It counts! For I have seen just 4 Oversizes since I started my project. 2 normal, 2 stretches.
Most are ancient, from PSC launch (1992). Hard to sell? They probably lost to radical OSs
Their age is blessing indeed, because when you have one, you have a blast from the past, an opportunity to study 1992, specs & materials, etc

PostScriptum: 110 where meant to be 18 mains, not 16, I can't check your pics for it

My prostaff has no 6.1 or si but only classic. Its made in china though... came with fairway grip

Yes, I fully support a theory in which mama Wilson was the one that moved the aesthetics, more techbabble for marketing!
The first post (OP) theory has it like appearance=country, so the readers can be too swayed when posting in this 3d.

The irony is that these will probably be used on my K-Factor 6.1 95 rackets since those are the ones I use regularly.

Odd question if anyone's still reading this thread out there ... how is it that the RF97A and PSC 6.1 both 357 grams, the RF97A has an even higher swingweight (335 vs 326), and the PSC is the one that's too heavy for the modern game?

Wow.

From the first post in the thread I'd guess that's the made in Taiwan one ...

"First gen: Pro Staff Classic. White butt cap with fairway leather grip stock. 95 sq.in written in the hoop. And made in Taiwan."

User 1010 would probably know even more ...
Thank You!! It's a fantastic racket, nothing to do with current rackets. I decided to play and strung it in reverse hybrid. Just Super!

I would like to have some inofrmations also on this Pro staff Edberg. Is it next to that of the uploaded photos and always made in Taiwan?? Thank you

I just got home after hitting with my $5 Goodwill special Pro Staff 6.1 si and wow... I think I have a new favorite. Amazing control. Decent power. Lightweight, but not TOO light. What a great hitting racket. In my opinion, one of Wilson’s absolute best.
Did any pros use one? Just curious.

Not the ones from goodwill, but plenty others, and many still do.

Played with three 6.1 classics for a decade or more, US 16 x18, of which two broke and one remains. Picked up a Six-One Tour BLX (90) at some point. 12.5 ounces/354 grams, SW 333, It feels more solid on contact, no vibration, than any of my others. I use it for fun strung with Babolat gut. Now play a pair of PS 97's weighted up to 12.2 ounces, strung with Alu Power at 45. Happy with that for three years now. The Tour BLX is the only 17.5 straight beam racquet left in my garage. Have one PS/A 97 I use as a warm-up dumb bell. Enjoyed seeing the array of 6.1's here.

Hey guys. I just registered just for this thread. Wanted to say thanks for all the info here, I never understood the differences between the PSC and the PSC 6.1 etc. Now I even know when and where mine was made.

I was a huge Edberg fan in the 90s - as a German, while everybody else liked Becker. I even went to Västervik, Edberg's hometown, when I was in Sweden in '92 (beautiful place!). I used to play from '88-'97 (age 8-17) and the PSC6.1 was always my dream racket (but too expensive for my parents). I later got one on **** for 25 EUR - not quite mint condition but pretty good. Haven't played with it since. :) 16x18, the cap code is SET, according to you that's Taiwan 1992, yes? Very nice. Right now I'm in the process of getting another one, same version more or less (without 6.1), condition seems to be OK (it's hard to tell on the pictures) for 13 EUR. Haven't heard back from the seller though.

I really need to play again. It's difficult to find someone to play with who is more or less on my level (not a beginner, but also not too good).

Thanks for this rabbit hole here!

Can anybody please comment a paint job on pro staff 85 which endorsed by Stefan Edberg. I asked the bay seller and he claimed it’s st Vincent under that paint job but it’s 700$ usd.

TIA

Stefan played all the time with 6.0 85.

I know, but I didn't back then, so I fell in love with the 6.1. Of course I'd be interested in an Edberg paintjob 6.0 too, but that's way above my pay grade.

The 6.1 that I wanted to buy for 13 EUR was already gone, by the way.

Edberg played with 6.0 under 6.1 pj.
He also played with Adidas Concept Delta but only during one tournament, then went back to 6.0.

I think I have like 5 of these 6.1s.. and a few hyper 6.1s somewhere. Tried really hard to make them work for me but never gamed them. I could understand the following though.

I think I just bought back one to give another go. Never really gave it a fair test.

Going to do the same here. Particularly now where I've become skilled at customizing with shrink sleeves, lead tape, head light, etc, no reason why this racquet doesn't work out.

Would anyone mind taking their PSC6.1 16x18 and reporting back on stock strung weight and balance (in points)?
I've read the racquetfinder.com specs and they don't seem right, especially the swingweight.
Many thanks

Mine was 360g strung with grip and dampener. I'd have to check the balance when I get home.

Balance point was 12.5", so on a 27" racquet that's 8 pts head light.

Thing is, I get the impression that there's a lot of production variation in Wilson racquets, particularly between those that were made at different times or locations.

I’ve also found a range of specs across my 3 (all bog standard PSCs apart from the last which is a PSC SI):

Buttcap code/strung weight/ balance in points

SDV / 357g / 4HL

SES / 352g / 11.5HL (!!)

UGP / 364g / 7HL

That is very interesting and insane! If the buyer wanted multiple sticks he had to have mastered applying lead tape.

Hi,

I have the PSC 6.1 16X18 and looking to buy the 18X20 version.

I can buy from here,

https://www.prodirecttennis.com/pro...versary-Racket-Mens-Rackets-Black-115196.aspx

Have anyone bought from Pro Direct Tennis in UK before?

Thanks

Hi there

Yes I did and it works just fine. No problems whatsoever if you want it delivered unstrung. But I think they only have L3 and L4 grip sizes available now (It doesn't work for me anymore because I only use grip L2).

I own 6 of these and I don't care for anything else. Still own 2 of the original classics, one in 16x18 pattern and another in 18x20, both in grip L3. Oddly enough I find the 25th anniversary closer in specs (head balance, swingweight, etc) to the 16x18. The original in 18x20 seems a little more heavy. But that's just my opinion about how I felt them and not really a statement.

Anyways I've tried almost every single stick on the planet and still own a lot of those and I just can't find anything better or even similar to this reissue of the 6.1 classic. This one has it all...laser like precision and power. Produces a really heavy ball even when you hit it flat.

Just a little obvious advice...string the 25th anni at least 2kg bellow your usual string setup on the 16x18.

Good luck
