So I posted in another thread about some home customisations I've been making to my 2 x Blade 98 18x20 racquets (2015 version).
Thought it might be interesting to have a dedicated thread to document everyone's customisation attempts (if there isn't one already) and as a little resource for others looking for solutions, tips and hints about customising racquets until they're on the pro-tour and able to hire P1 to do it for them 8)
These are the changes and specs of the two Blades I've been customising:
• 4 3/8 | L3 grips with 3 layers of electrical tape on the surface of each main handle bevel (not diagonals), Wilson Premium leather grips, 2 x Wilson Perforated Pro Overgrips on each one over this tape (wanted to increase grip size to 4 1/2+)
• Weight added inside handle using nails stuck into the foam
• 6 g lead added to the heads at 3 and 9 O'Clock
• Wilson W dampeners on both
• Total Weight of each racquet: 367 g
I have no means of measuring the balance other than getting them to pivot on the edge of a table. They are headlight due to the extra weight on the handle from grips and nails inside, even with the lead in the hoop.
Interestingly the tape on the handle face has helped define the feel of the bevels through the leather grip and two over grips on each racquet that I had feared might make the feel a little 'soft'.
