The Racquets of Daniil Medvedev

Some of our local MRTs went down to Miami to string:

looks like these Technifibre racquets have same gimmick Woofer grommets as older Babolats. What strings at what tension he is using today?

It looks like he has lead at 3 and 9 now which previously was not there

It's not visible, at least for me. At 25 it's a bit late for him to start weighting up his racquets, but who knows...
His racquets are supposed to be Pro Staff 6.1 clones, right?

If you goto Tecnifibres instagram stories you'll see him getting strung up at 21/22. As for the string by painting the string do you mean adding a different colour during extrusion process?
so none of the nonsense tha pros need high tension. 22kg is even at the low side for a string that isnt stiff.

yes sir, definitely visible there
Never noticed any lead on his racquets before, maybe it was painted.
Usually these guys don't start tinkering with his gear at this point of the season, it's a first for me at least

It's an 18x20, don't know how stiff his racquets are, but it's a normal tension, I believe

He says he strings between 20 and 22 kg in the video below and that depends on how he is feeling. As for the frame, isn’t it just a prostock Dynacore 305 with lead? Another funny thing is him saying he can use a single racket per match (when not on clay). He seems more chill about his equipment than some other pros.

Is Medvedev's racquet similar to a TFight tuned to his spec or is the pro stock really different from the commercially available TFight 305? Just curious.

it's supposed to be a PS 6.1 clone, he played with that racquet before Technifibre, and there's a few brands who did it for former 6.1 pro users.

Which pro stock does Medvedev play with? The Dynacore 305 “Russian paintjob” or the Dynacore TF3 305 red/black paintjob? From photos in 2014/15 I see it plays with the first one I mentioned

I was thinking he played with an earlier model than the Dynacore.

Insiders from Tecnifibre have always stated that their players dont use prostocks but the real sticks, meaning, Tecnifibre doesnt fabricate different models specially for pros.

In Daniil's case, he does use the same commercial TFight Dynacore 305 that was available to the public, just tuned up for his specs (this doesnt count as a pro stock, right?)

I do know that the only modification available for pros are stretched versions of their frames, but no actual "pro stock" separate frames for pros.

Basically he continues to get that same dynacore VO2 305 95 sq in produced for him with just 25 grams of silicone in the handle lol

In my observation, more people use “pro stock” to encompass all pro player frames unavailable at retail. Meddy’s old TFight 95 painted like his new, endorsed one would count.

There’s a difference between Babolat/Tecnifibre pro stocks that are reportedly limited to repainted retail frame layups and Wilson H22/19/25 or Head PTxxx.x where the layup can vary drastically from retail. There are molds like the PT312 (Garin) from head and P25/H25 from Wilson (and until recently H22/19) that aren’t and were never available to the regular consumer…unless you count the retail Head and Prince frames Wilson copied.

I’d call them all “pro stocks” because I can’t get a KBlade 98 painted like the current v8 without jumping through some hoops and paying a high price. But pros can. Same goes for the non-retail frames like H25s, non-retail H22 layups, Head PT312s, and the like.

I wonder if tecnifibre made a custom pallet for him? Being an 6.1 95 user , wonder if he quickly adapted to the TF grip shape or if they modified it for him.

Doesn't have to be TF, even if they didn't give him racquets with the shape he prefers, it would be easy for him to have them customized by P1 or any similar company

Ok. Got it. It is quite possible. The first tf samples he received is almost identical to the 6.1 95 with the black red TF painjob. I assume it is not difficult to mold a Wilson handle on it for him if he liked the shape.

There maybe shops that does it for a fee. I had a local shop that did it for me many years ago. I bought had a used Bab in L4 but I wanted a Wilson L2 shape. They chopped off the original grip and heat molded a new one.
They have closed for a long time now, I don’t know where all the equipments went cuz no one here does it these days.

lots of them, P1, **** and Bosworth in US (those I know, there should be plenty just in US), Rings and Roll in Germany, etc,
for sure he has access and can pay for these type of services. if he needed changes on his grip shape size, or whatever, he can get it very easy
I only had two of my racquets handle shaved from 4 1/2 to 4 3/8 (or L4 to L3), I also did some weight customization to get my racquets closer to what I'm used (Wilson always has a control issue, and I play with an old bat, PS 6.0 95), lead only, of course. I had one racquet with blue tac, but that's it.

theres a few shops in Aus that customise like that (though Tecnifibre racquets are more tricky apparently)

There’s a place here in Florida that does it and said it could be different/difficult but he can put a Wilson l3 on my Tfight 305 L4. The grip shape is a bit weird

yeah its to do with them having molded handles rather than pallets or something like that I believe

you can. But be extra cautous. Clamp it down and go through light and even stroke. Eg 20 to 40 each bevel. And try to hold and feel it. I did it on a 6.1 95 and a k blade reducing them to L2.

Recently i got several racquets belonged to Daniil Medvedev.
Accidentally got acquainted with his elder sister who got his old sticks. Before he played with Wilson, now he sponsored by Technifibre. I can not prove that these are his personal racquets, because he asked his sister to tear off yellow Technifibre stickers with his name and racquet model name before she gave the racquets to me.

The weights are 359 and 356 gr.
4 and 3/8 grip, why is it so small ?

Right because now it's baseline dominated game. If you volley alot, small grips become really unstable and is a liability
Yes, but mostly due to modern racquets that allow you to play with wrist rotation. Baseliners were before also but playing with wood racquets force you to use strict technique without any wrist rotation. Also most of the shots were flat not spin - the same situation with wrist.
