The Real Dunlop AG100 Club!

Not interested in the new black 4D AG100's..

This is a club for those of us hardcore guys that stayed true to the original AG100 mid frame!

Here are my baby's. And with original AG Thermo too!

I am old school, so I can understand new kids wanting bigger heads and power.. But us old guys (I am 35) can hit with anything.. Its a shame, tennis today is not that flexible, and kids skills have relied on the racquet, instead of the eye!

I just bought one of these frames a few weeks ago, and I have to say it's unlike anything I've ever hit with. It has great plow through and maneuverability. I have been a life-long Wilson user and previously I played with the Wilson KBlade Tour and K90, but I found them both to be very demanding. The AG100 seems to have all the intangibles that were missing from the Wilsons. I'm 25, but I've always leaned more toward the old-school style of play since I was taught by my dad. I love the serve and volley game and this racquet suits it quite well. I've come up with some volleys with this stick that I didn't even think I had in me. Can't wait to pick up a couple more of these before they disappear. I have a feeling the AG100 will be one of those racquets that becomes sought after years after it goes out of production. I hope this thread keeps going cause I've got tons of questions to ask you guys who've been using this frame longer than I have.

Relax dude, do whatever you want... I'm just saying that there's a thread with a LOT of information for you guys. And possibly for me, because I'm planning to get a pair of AG100s....

I like this frame too.
Between this and the PSL, I'm set.
And for anyone who likes this frame, try the PSL too. Like a slightly less powerful, slightly more controlled and with more feel version of this.

I don't need information, as I already know what I have.. But some guys might need some info, and so I am happy to give them help.. Me posting a new thread is simply just me wanting to state how much of a great frame it is..

I just didn't want to post my opinion on page 1287 of an old thread...

it seems to me that this thread is over..........

Yeah,

I don't think so...

I really wish that you people that make smart comments and play self appointed board police, would make some threads of your own and add something of use to other members. Instead of just telling other people what they can and cant do?

Anyway, still want to say that I play my AG100 stock, with stock grip and over-wrap, and its the only frame after two years of searching to give me that old school feel..

Its a shame they weren't out for so long....

Hey Timmaaaay,

greetings from a fellow ag100 user from Qld, Im up on he sunny coast and an yet to see another ag100 in action round these parts. I bought mine off a dude on the Aus TW forum.

Unlike you I hated it without lead, found it tinny and jarring but smooth as with lead at 3 and 9.

Its not my everyday stick, Im too much of a coward so only bring it out for fun and friendlies but rely on the fischer mpro for comp.
enjoy
Maurice

Mate, gotta be in it to win it...

As for me, I am in Japan at the moment selling property, and visiting the wife's family... So I haven't been able to hit as much as I would like....

But still, I am glad that you have experimented with this stick, and found something that suits your game...

I used to live at Sunshine Beach about 15 years ago....

Cheers...

I would also be interested in hearing someones take on the 4DAG100, and do a comparison with the AG100...

I think the AG100 didn't get the life is should have, and so why I believe it will become one of those future "have to have" collector frames...

I've always used this frame with added lead and a leather grip, but I'm trying to use it in stock form at the moment.
I used the added weight to generate pace and easy shots in general, instead of applying a better technique to get the same results.
The racquet is very maneuverable in stock form and, if the ball is hit correctly, it feels solid and stable (not "pingy" at all) and can generate a lot of spin and pace

Agreed.. The problem today is, that kids are being taught by lazy coaches that are only interested in the number of kids in their class, rather than the quality..

I cringe when I see a thread titled "Is the K-90 to difficult for me?"

I am 35, and when I was a tournament player. All you could choose were 85-90" frames.. Oversized was 95-100, and they were for girls!.. There were no Babolats, and O-ports.. Just tennis racquets...

I'm here with four. Love that nat gut or poly. Tried an AG 200 16 X 19 (95 sq. in), but came home.

Lead and leather--this frame is the best!

Hey Hood.. I am thinking about painting one of my four AG100's with the old 200G paintjob as a retro look.. Either that I will be blacking out mine all bar the Dunlop on the hoop.. Just tired of the blue and silver look...

Yea! I'd go with the all black.

The AG100 could be an awesome "Stealth racquet."

I play stock with an overgrip..

I searched for 2 years to find this frame, and am very happy!

I'd been working in Dubai for a year and recently returned to Oz. A huge sporting goods store in Dubai were selling Dunlop AG100 and 200 frames for 250dhs (around $75 AUD) each. It's been three months since I'd been there but I wouldn't be surprised if you could still pick them up now. Regret not buying more while I was there - I bought one AG100 and two AG200's. Big fan of the AG100.
Anyone travelling to Dubai check out Go Sport at Mall of the Emirates :)

I have four AG 100s, and have for quite some time. I also have two new 4D AG100s that I plan to try out before arbitrarily deciding they're no good. And I'm 48.

So maybe I'm in the wrong place. Maybe I need to be in the Unreal Dunlop AG100 Club.

I have a newfound love for these frames. Just one more gram of lead at 9 and 3 should do it. I would love to try these out with natural gut

They're not selling AG100 in my country so I bought a pair of AG200 16x19. AG100 and AG200 16x19 have similar specs (thin straight beam, stiffness, weight, SW, even the PJ)... I've never hit AG100. How do they compare? Any different?

I tried an AG200 16 X 19 but sold it. IMO it played nice but a tad softer, and just didn't have that crisp, laser-like quality of the AG100.

Also, because of the greater density of the string pattern on the AG200, I could get more spin from the AG100.
