~The REAL TW Football Club~

Hey guys,

thought it might be a nice idea to get an AMERICAN Football Fanclub on the TW forum (i know, weird, mixing 10S and Football).

With the 2008-09 playoffs approaching, any rants or raves or insults about any team whatsoever are welcomed.

Hopefully, (don't want to sound like a jock here) we might even get a Fantasy Football League going in the future.

It'd also be a good idea to post, and give a shout out to the teams you support and those that you simply hate.

with best regards.

GET IT BOLTS!!! SUCK IT BRONCOS!!!

I think you should call it the "TTW American football club". The real football is played with the foot. The real football has been around for much longer than american football.

Or you could call it the "TTW rugby-for-pus*ies club". That would be more appropriate.

BTW, before you claim any anti-american bias, I'm american and I've been a Bills fan my entire life.

EDIT: You're from Buffalo and you're not a Bills fan? Shame on you.

How can it be real football when the actual football (the one where the foot is the primary body part used) has been played long before America was even established.

Bolts suck and luckily the Colts stomped your asses so it saves you the embarassment of failing in the playoffs yet again.

Oh and real football is played with the foot mate as already said :)

well, there are differing points of view. IMHO, i could go either way about which sport "football" really is, but there are people who stick firmly to one side. just seems like there are more "soccer" fans out there. point is, thread was established for "american football" fans, not for people to whine and moan about name problems.

anyways, after seeing that the bills have lost 4 straight super bowls, one kinda gets the sense that they suck. i mean i'll cheer for them to win of course as they're from buffalo, but in a game where it's bolts vs. bills, i'm bolts. :)

guess you're a colts fan? no offense, but giving up six picks and missing a 36 yarder from a clutch kicker does not improve my view of them. and 23-20?

nope. no ass stomping there. chargers came charging back in the 4th. knowing the dumb@ss norv turner, i seriously would have called "go for it" instead of the field goal.

Pfchang, I'm not a Bills fan, but that was a long time ago. I wouldn't hold those SB losses against them...with the exception of the first one, against the Giants, I think the Bills simply played superior teams. Losing to the 'Skins, then to the 'Boys twice wasn't shameful - those teams were clearly better. In any case, just making it to the SB 4 times in a row is quite an accomplishment in itself.

put it that way, and i agree. making it to 4 straight SB's is pretty damn good.

That's not true. The first match of association football took place in the mid to late 1800s. The first American president was elected in the late 1770s.

No, that's soccer you're referring to.

No, he's referring to football. As in the sport where the ball is kicked with the foot. If the sport is called soccer why does it's governing body call itself FIFA, as the second F stands for football? I love it how the nation that is on the forefront of the so called "Globalization" movement doesn't call football by it's correct name, opting to call it something else. Irony at it's best.

Some of the earliest forms of football (that is, kicking a pigs bladder between villages) were played in the middle ages.

I stand corrected, even though I was referring to an official match of association football, not when the game itself was starting to be played. Good call.

Ok, then tell me what soccer is? When I refer to soccer, I'm writing/talking about the sport where the players kick the ball around, sometimes using their heads instead, and their objective seems to be to force the ball past the opposing "goalie", and through the goal. Then all the fans holler, "Goooaaaallll!!!" That's what I and other red-blooded Americans call "soccer". Understand?

^^^No need to even cover him - he can't catch anymore - saw him drop a TD pass, and several others today against the steelers. What a wuss...

awh...cassel and ST were ****. freaking bolts lost again. they really kept the wrong turner.

pf, you can put me down as a member. american football is much more enjoyable to watch than the "football" where grown men act like 4 year old girls every time they get touched a little too hard. i grew up playing soccer and loved it... but man, pro soccer players act like girls! i can't stand watching that crap. we were more physical on my under 12 team!

i am a Chargers fan... which isn't much to be proud of this year! lots of close games, unfortunate calls, and disappointing finishes so far! the team can look SO bad and SO good within a few minutes. a little consistency would be great. the Chargers have a few more seasons where they have a legit chance of going far... but their time is running out.

Well, American Football is basically Rugby with a crap load of padding. Does that make American Football players girls? I think it probably might.

As for football players acting like girls, sure, on tv it looks like they are hardly touched. In reality though the challenges are very physical indeed, only a few weeks ago a player got elbowed in the head.. on tv it didn't look too bad but he nearly lost his life, the scar on the side of his head from all the surgery isn't pretty at all.

A goalkeeper played an FA Cup final with a broken neck, John Terry played in the Champions League final days after fracturing an elbow, he was also back playing in days after fracturing a cheekbone and swallowing his tongue. But yeah, football's a girls game! Not like those tough fatties with helmets, shoulder pads, chest pads etc... those are the real men.

Rugby players are incredibly tough. so are most players in the NFL. i don't think that can be said for the majority of soccer players. maybe it is just a few of the major pansies that make the rest of the pro soccer players look bad... don't follow it closely enough to know. but when i try to watch a soccer game and watch a guy fall down and act like he broke his ankle... just to get right back up and keep playing then i have to turn it off. the best part is that something like that happens about 5 times per game!!! i have played soccer at a high level in my younger years, and i know that it can be very physical. i was very physical myself. however, you don't see football players acting like girls and wanting a call for getting hit to hard. the sport of soccer would be fine if players weren't allowed to act like girls and fall without being touched.

you could probably come up with a few more examples of soccer players playing hurt. that is great. pro sports need more of that. however, i could come up with 10x more examples of football players playing hurt than you could of soccer players playing. and if you want to deny that soccer players act like girls and fall over and act overly dramatic when they aren't even touched then go ahead. but you don't also believe that WWE wrestling is also real... do you?

What's a soccer player? I've only heard of footballers.

And for those going "wah wah wah it's not physical enough", who bloody cares? Sport isn't just a "which neanderthal can run into another the hardest" contest.

That is true!

I was at Chelsea v Bolton yesterday and Bosingwa got some pretty rough treatment, even from a good distance away you could hear the contact made by the Bolton players studs.. it must of hurt like hell but he ran it off. On TV it probably didn't look like much and slow motion replays don't do it justice, but a proper physical tackle on the ankle causes anyone to go down and need a few minutes to run it off. Maybe they should think about using 4 inch kevlar body suits like the real men of the NFL use! ;)

point is, if you don't want to talk about AMERICAN Football, i would kindly ask you to please leave the thread. seriously about half of it is debating which sport deserves the title of football, if it's a girly sport, and just fussing over stuff.

some people who like "le football" and want to talk about it, go to the TT Football club.

some people who like "Le football americaine," stay here.

simple.

and 10sfreak, i hope dallas wins, cuz i hate the steelers (no offense to the mass of steelers fans) and i need jason witten to tear up the turf.

Point is, you made your own bed when you called your thread ~The REAL TW Football Club~, what were you expecting to happen? It seems like you did it to annoy/wind up the people from everywhere but America and that's exactly how alot of people have seen it.

If it was called "The TW NFL Club" or "The TW American Football Club" you would of had no problems at all. You only have yourself to blame really.

Cheers to that, man. I'm in the same boat as you on this one. If the OP had called it something like the TTW American Football Club or Even the TW Football club, there would be no hard feelings. However, you call it the REAL football club, which is offensive to most people, especially those who come from just about everyother country in the world. The real football is the sport that is called football by the people who were the first to speak the language that you and I are using to communicate. How's that?

touche, but did you look at the first post that i made?

i actually do mention American football, and ask for a thread on that topic. i would assume most people would look at the thread starter before commenting, no? if the title is my fault, i accept it. but please at least take a care and pay attention to the details.

and wouldn't the same go for the TT Football Club? i took a look at it because i thought it was the american version of football. i believe that a majority of this forum would be from the states, and in the US, i would also assume many people have a word for the "no hands-football", which is soccer.

point is now, if you're here to talk AMERICAN Football, please continue so.

never heard of soccer huh? doesn't surprise me.

i don't "wah wah" any more than the professional soccer players you love so much after a nice clean tackle... so what is your point? soccer is a good sport (i love many sports that are non contact, and sports that are contact... and sports that are COLLISION like football, hockey, and rugby). my only point is that i can't watch pro soccer due to the fact that the players (grown men for the most part) act like little girls every time they get touched. and half the time such pansy acting gets rewarded with a free kick! it is very hard for me to watch... but i am glad for the sport that others love it so much.

You want to see why these people moan and cry so much? Go to Youtube, and look up eduardo da silva's injury away to Birmingham from last season. You'll know what I'm talking about.

That's totally fine, but you cross the line by saying that it's the REAL football club. There are a good deal of people on these boards who come from countries other than the States, and they all call the sport like it should be. Football, as the sport is about kicking a ball with one's foot. That's football. American football isn't the real football, the real football is the sport our ancestors called football and everyone else besides americans call football. If you wanted to call the club "The TTW American Footbal Club", we'd be fine. But you call the club the TTW REAL football club. That's really crossing the line. You can edit the name of your topic. I suggest you do so.

No, the same wouldn't go. You're right, a good deal of people here do come from the States. However, there is already a topic up on football, and you could check that out, and maybe, just maybe, see that there are a great deal of people here who support or prefer the football that the rest of the world plays. So, why not just start a topic that says:

The TTW American Football Club

Why not try that?

you're really taking it out of context by insisting that it's offensive. i really don't see how people can get offended when the thread was started with a light attitude.

but anyways, if YOU would really like the title changed, well, enlighten me!

count me in! i love the steelers!

^^^Then congrats to you on y'all's win against my 'Boys yesterday! I thought we were going to pull that one off, but hell, you can't start trying to run out the clock with over half a quarter to go in the ball game!! For cryin' out loud, throw on first down every once in a freakin' while!!!! (Ok, I've been ranting about this all day, time to get over it...).
On the other hand, I'm really proud of how our defense played! I was expecting the Steeler's defense to be great, but the 'Boys defense really surprised me.
