Al Davis: D.O.A. ...... R.I.P. ....... M.I.A. ...... S.O.S. ..... L.O.L. ..

If Kerry Collins keeps playing this way, I can see them going all the way.
Collins still can throw a pretty nice ball; he always had the gun. But that's when he's allowed to "sit pretty in the pocket" and can pick out his receivers. When he has to move his feet, his "reads" and throwing really suffer, especially when having to slide "left" (e.g. Titan's loss at home against the Jets). And, since the name of the game on "D" is: kill the quarterback! (as exemplified by, e.g., teams like the Giants, Ravens, Steelers and the TITANS themselves), the team that can produce a sustained pass rush and take advantage of Kerry Collins' relative lack of mobility (even just making him "slide around") is imho the team that is going to beat them. The last three weeks have shown that this baby is up for grabs.

Irony of ironies: notice that Peyton Manning seems to be operating under-the-radar (in NYG-high profile Eli's shadow)....and also notice that Peyton has quietly moved his team's record into very respectable numbers. G-men are going to miss Plexico Burris. Heck each of the "big boy" teams has a "pro" and a "con" associated with them. Again, tough to call; Super Bowl could be won by a number of teams.

Yes, but beating the overated cocky Chargers in their own building when they don't even deserve a playoff spot would be so much sweeter.

what kinda vendetta do you have against the chargers? the broncos don't deserve that playoff spot for sure. they had so many chances to clinch and they didn't, while the chargers converted at critical points. i could see them triumphing over the colts in a tight game, similar to last year.

and they defly have NOT been overrated. they have talent, but underperform and have a terrible coach. nothing to overrate there.

What makes you think the Broncos don't deserve the playoff spot as much as the Chargers? You DO know that they lost to the Broncos...Sure, Broncos had their opportunities, but it's not like the Chargers won everything they SHOULD have won (lost to the Bills).

Correction: They actually won, but Ed Hochuli screwed them over.

and the bills came out strong. the way that they started 5-1, i'm not surprised that they won. think about it, the chargers have a good 4-5 games lost within 30 seconds. By all means, they have underperformed, but they do deserve the spot more than denver. Denver has no running game as of now, and no pass d or even a great d in general. with all that talent on the chargers team, they deserve it. especially LT.

Having talent doesn't mean they deserve a spot in the playoffs. Their record determines if they're good enough to play with the best. Yes, Broncos have no defense nor a running game, but they do have a better record than the Chargers.

^^^ I agree that talent alone doesn't determine whether or not a team "deserves" a playoff spot. In fact, IMO, the more talent a team has, but is underperforming, the less they deserve the spot. I have more admiration for teams that do well with less talent - it shows that the teamwork is really working on that team. A good example to me is the '98 Falcons - no really excellent players, but they all played very well together, which propelled them to the SB.

Guys why are we getting into a tizzy over the Chargers and/or Broncos? :?: Those "dogs" are playing very skittish, inconsistent ball. Cutler looks like God one minute and god-damn! the next. The Chargers talent? Never in question. But Merriman goes down and the team folds like a cheap suitcase? Rivers is a spunky dude, but that team plays down to their opposition's level too many times. Like the Broncos, the 'Bolts' (great baby-blue "uni's" btw) can look truly dangerous, but their inconsistencies spell "one-and-done" imho should they make the playoffs.

Denver sucks BIGTIME! My co-worker and I knew the Broncos had to beat the Bills last week because Denver was not going to beat the Chargers if it came down to the last game.

Congrats to the Chargers for not giving up on the season. Now go celebrate before Peyton and company shut off the lights next week.

i sadly did not get to see that @ss thumping of Roy and da boys, but i did manage to see the NBC game.

firstly, I was a believer at 4-8.

secondly, the Colts D is not very strong, but they have great players.

thirdly, i have to say, #17 got cheated out of a pro bowl.

fourthly, LT is OFFICIALLY back, aside from his little groin mishap in the game.

lastly, you COLTS had better be ready because we are gonna go nuts on you guys.

and breaker, i do believe that an 8-8 team has won the superbowl, and beat the colts on the way...

1.) Yeah you looked like a real believer calling for Norv to be sacked. Plastic.
2.) Better than the Chargers D.
3.) No one's gonna vote for a guy who kept choking away the end of games early in the season to get his team into that big a hole.
4.) Broncos are terrible, we'll see how well he does next week - personally I'd be more worried of Sproles starting.
5.) So? I believe more teams that actually have good regular seasons win the Super Bowl.

1.for norv, nobody likes him. just because i don't like him doesn't mean i don't believe in the team.

2. Chargers are a lateral D, colts are a pass d. you don't see anyone on the colts D picking off #17 3times in a half.

4. i can agree with you there.

i mean i like the colts, but it's about time that they give up some of their success. obviously, everyone knows it's gonna be a shootout. but the Chargers have been running the ball much better than the colts, who managed a subpar 30 yards against the jaguars.

It will be a good game, I have just come to strongly dislike the Chargers for several reasons, not just because of how badly the Colts always play against them but we'll see. Rivers deserved it over Favre but for sure it's just popularity contest anyway.

what all do you have against the chargers? my bro is the same way (hates the chargers for no reason)... even though we were born and raised in SD. he can't accept that rivers is a pretty decent qb with the best passer rating in the entire league. he also think LT is horrible along with rivers, despite being one of the better running backs in the game. with jackson having a great season and gates playing well they can run and throw. sproles adds some flair to special teams. the D has been playing pretty well despite losing Lights Out for the season. we have a few cocky players... but over all i think the chargers are pretty legit. do you have legit reasons to dislike the chargers? i don't think they are cheap shots or dirty players. rarely do they go overboard with end zone dances or taunts.

Any predictions for the Saturday games? I say Cardinals over Falcons and Colts over Chargers.

Falcons should whip the Cardinals, the WEAKEST team in the playoffs. Falcons finished strong and actually have a running game. If the Falcons get to the QB the Cardinals are going to get beatdown.

The Chargers have talent, but no brains. Think of them as Cowboys of the West. The Colts are the hottest team in the league. This could be ugly if you play defense on either team. Rivers does make more mistakes than Peyton, so I'll take the Colts. That and I'll take Dungy's coaching skills over Turner's anyday.

I'ma have to go against most of y'all.

Chargers over Colts only cuz i'm a fan, but i do have my doubts.

Flashback to Colts vs. Packers, Manning had a horrible game, there was NO D, and no running game whatsoever. Shows the worst potential of Manning. Colts still have a minimal running game, but a similar system as NO, with receiving RB's. Flashback to Colts vs. Browns. NO OFFENSIVE TD's.

However, Rivers has had a couple choke jobs, notably against NO and BUF, but he does have the most TD's, highest Passer rating, and he can get yards as easy as manning, if not easier. However, they are 8-8 regardless, which is never a good showing going into the Post Season.

I want the bolts to win, but i'm going to call it even. It'll hopefully be a great game to watch.

as for the Falcons vs. Arizona, that may be a similar shootout. But all depending on Warner. If he has a good day, doesn't turnover the ball, it should be a done deal for the Cards. They have 3-1000 YD WR's, which is monstrous, and 2/3 and perhaps even Breaston are VERY physical receivers, not to mention that they still are fast. Hightower can have a great day, if he gets his blocking, and is showing up some AP like moves.

Falcons, though, i'm not TOTALLY convinced yet. I have not seen Ryan play extensively yet, correct me if i'm wrong, but i'm just not getting that QB vibe from him. Still Roddy White is a beast, as well as The Burner Turner and their D has been picking it up.

I'm thinking it'll be a relatively high scoring game, with both teams breaking 30, but basically a monstrous passing game from the cards, and a more run balanced offense from the Falcons.

that's it for now....

As for sunday's games...

Baltimore over Miami

I'm pretty sure most people will chose Baltimore, as their D was highly underated for half the season, and I just don't see Miami getting that huge firepower from pennington or massive yards on the ground.

i do see flacco showing up nice, and while the Ravens don't have a consistent rusher, they do get consistent yards, with Derrick Mason as a reliable receiver through the air, and Derrick Mason Showing up some nice catches.

for you Philly Fans, I'm on your side here, you guys seem to have one of the easier Matchups. Let me comment on Minn's SHORTCOMINGS First...

AP Fumbles (but still a crazy RB)
T. Jackson is the Starting QB
Berrian is basically always running deep.
Their D is on steroids.

now on to Philly's good points...

Brian Westbrook
Mcnabb (If he has a good day, and the man can always run)
Still a lack of receivers, but DAYSHAUN is looking nice.
Philly D has always been good, they will sack you, pick you off, and block your kicks.

that's about it.

The Bills didn't fire Dick Jaron. Ralph Wilson needs to just step down, already. He was considered to be senile and old when my dad was growing up, and he's still making decisions? Ugh. I hope Jaron leaves before the start of next season, anyone is better than him! He shows no emotion on the sideline, lets the offensive/defensive coordinators call all the plays, and worst of all, just acts like he could give a sh1t about the entire thing. Get him out! But then who would replace him? My dad and I were thinking Eric Mangini but I feel that he wouldn't be exactly what we need at the moment, we need an overhaul of the team, much like what Miami did with Parcells. Any thoughts?

I kinda agree with you, but apparently the players didn't. I know it's a 7-9 record, but it feels much different. we started out strong, finished weak, but now we know the team actually has potential. Lynch still went over 1000 yds even with poor blocking. But as for the emotion part, i remember commentators talking about it; even if the Bills score a ridiculous TD, all he does is clap.

I saw both games and there were surprising things that made the difference.

In the Cards/Falcons game, the biggest factor was Michael Turner. He only had 42 yards on the ground. He scored a TD but he definitely underperformed today. Also, the Cardinals D-line was on fire. They got really good penetration and put a lot of pressure on Matt Ryan and forced him to make some mistakes. And of course, Kurt Warner, Larry Fitzgerald, and Anquan Boldin all had solid games.

In the Colts/Chargers game, Darren Sproles had a field day. He had something like 320 total yards. It doesn't help that Indy's run defense isn't very strong. Manning played well but Chargers D was solid tonight. Rivers didn't have a big game but he managed the game well. He didn't take a lot of risks and didn't give up a lot of turnovers. Those defensive penalties on the Colts in the OT were killers. I didn't agree with some of those calls and I would've liked to see the Colts win but in the end, Chargers played a great game.

Yup. That's pretty much 100% correct. I think the falcons had a little hiccup as both turner and Ryan are new to the playoffs with this team But overall, they should be proud that they managed to do so well with a rookie and a FA RB. And they still managed to get 24 points and within 6 of the cardinals, who just have 3 of the best physical receivers that are hard to cover. you gotta give it up for them.

as for the Bolts-Colts game, It should have been locked up well into the the 4th for the bolts, as they had 2 red zone turnonvers that one of which was unusual. I knew that the Colts were gonna get stuffed in the running game, and really all the Bolts gave up in big passing yardage was that one 72 yarder to wayne and a 36er to A.G. I was surprised by the defense on both sides, especially the pass rush from both sides. But you're right, there was some bad officiating, the Chambers catch was defly NOT good, and I do believe that kickoff return should have been a fumble. But anyways, they won, and have some momentum going for them.

and Breaker, what did you say about the Colts doing? You know i was waiting for it, but it never happened!?? How weird?:)

Right. They have talent, but they choke and underperform. Just take a look at River's Stats and you can see that they can be one of the huge power house offenses. and you missed a SICK NASTY Arz-Atl game. Fitz had a NASTY CATCH.

as for 2day's predictions, Prostaff, I can agree with you on the Eagles, don't really see much from the vikings other than AP. If Philly D steps up, they should lock it up on offense.

as for the AFC game, I'm really in between, with a slight edge going to Baltimore. as they always say, defense wins championships, and that what the ravens are known for, as opposed to Miami. But i wouldn't count Miami out, i'm sure they have a bag of tricks ready to go for the ravens, and with the way CP is playing, they might have a chance.

Hey, let's not be a sore loser here. the colts have had their superbowl. I rooted for them back in 06. I'm sure even without Dungy they'll be a 10+ win team as long as Manning or perhaps even sorgi is there. I agree, there were some bad calls, but Dungy could have challenged, which he didn't. And if the defense held the Chargers to 23 points, that's still good, but Scifres was just a beast, pinning them down within the 20 all six times. It really sucks when you don't have good field position, and you can't do much about it.

but for baltimore, looks like the probably wrapped it up.

^^Not being a sore loser, it is true that the Chargers got some very questionable calls their way in overtime that handed them the game, but you can't challenge penalties. Fair play though that's what home field advantage gives you.

Colts no way would win 10 games with Sorgi at quarterback, take Manning out and replace him with just about any quarterback in the league and the Colts don't make the playoffs this year. If Dungy leaves there won't be a big change at all, Caldwell is apparently just like Dungy and with Manning at quarterback it's almost impossible to screw up the regular season.
