The reason why I can't miss a Rafa match?

Seriously thou those two points were not that special. I like the part were Nadal fell but that's about it.

The only [G]Hatorade Nadal will have is with regards to time violations but other than that it is really great for me (personally) to get up and stretch my legs, peruse some reading materials in-between those idle times.:)

i think Nadal's best quality is he never gives up until the match is over
Federer and Djokovic, sometimes, it appears they would give up.

So, it's great to watch Nadal play a tight match. If his opponent beats him, congratulations to him because Nadal has already tried his best.

He's the showstopper of course :) The guy makes each and every match entertaining in some way.... he isn't a bit less entertaining to watch today than he was in 05. From yesterday:

It's been a pleasure being a fan for the past 9 years.

It has been a pleasure indeed :)

If anything he's more fun to watch than back then.

Do you remember Michael what was the first match you saw him play?. I don't quite remember myself, I know it was one of the clay finals against Fed before RG in 2006. When he lost 6-1 the first set there, I was so disappointed, was sure he was gonna lose. :)

Watching Nadal run around and loop in moonballs until his opponent self destructs is the most boring tactic I've ever seen. At least grass makes him play slightly more aggressive

Rafa hit over 20 winners in the 5th set of his RG semi final against Novak last year. That is on high bouncing slow clay. Just wanted to point out you have no idea what you're talking about.

In a set with 16 games though, i.e. almost double of a standard set.
Moreover, every time someone says Rafa ain't a point-ender this specific set is brought up. If he indeed is as aggressive, as you claim, there must be numerous of such instances - virtually every match, I would presume?
To be fair, he's more than capable of being aggressive (as shown in that 5th set and when he's particular confident - and on grass too). It's just not he's go-to tactic, but either a last resort or because he's feeling the ball perfectly that day.

OP - great points indeed!
I wonder why Klizan didn't come forward on the lob though - think he would have won the point had he been at the net for Rafa's backhand.

the reason i can't watch Rafa play is because he is so boring and monotonous to watch, the same old tactics over and over again with the same old fist pumps and celebrations and vamos's

My problem is that I've got a hard time staying awake between points when Rafa plays. And if I manage, I'm also not a fan of seeing a male player pick his butt and then sniff his fingers. Now if Kirilenko did that.....;-)

We knew that already of course :)

Not that it's a bad idea pointing out once in a while how clueless haters are.

That's a really good question... it had to have been something probably in early 05. I was more into Roddick/Venus pre-06. I definitely remember being an actual fan of his by 06 though.

Because you're a huge fan. And he's the world's best player.

He had to earn me as a fan, and points like that are exactly how :)

Yeah :)
Makes me think of that awesome interview of his from I think last year, where the interviewer asked him about him refusing to lose, and he answered "it's not that I refuse to lose, I refuse to give up".

I don't seem to have watched any tennis in 2005 for some reason. I distinctly remember watching that awful 2004 RG final, guess something must have been going on in my life in 2005 around that time...

I admire Rafa's fighting spirit, but i prefer to watch his matches in the later rounds. The early rounds are just too one-sided. They are more like easy warm-ups for him.

I can't miss a Murray match, just because. I've liked the guy and his game since AO 2007. I've always thought he was talented and after a period of not watching tennis, I was pleased he was within the top 4 upon my return. I just hope he can return to his former glory now and retain his Wimbledon crown.
