The right way to grip?

I know that the index finger knuckle and the heel pad of the hand is supposed to be on one bevel (bottom left (bevel 6) for my lefty SW grip), as FYB states. However, it seems more natural for me to have my heel pad cheat up one bevel (bevel 7, or eastern forehand grip for lefties). Should I just try to learn the correct method or is this okay? Also, is it okay to have the groove between the thumb pad and the heel pad on the bevel instead of the heel pad? So far it feels a bit awkward the "right" way...

Also, on the heel pad, should the round bumpy bone rest on the bevel, or somewhere above that?

There is no actual correct method. It's personal choice.

Basic grips are just "starting points,"
advanced and skilled players eventually drift away from typical "textbook" explained grips.

Nothing wrong with "fighting" a grip to continue it's use, but experimentation, becomes more useful, in grip decisions.

I've said this before, grips are changed frequently during match play.

Well, obviously, not with everyone.

I knew a guy, played with only the eastern forehand grip on both sides. Hit his 1HBH with the same grip.

Looked dumb and low Club level, but back then there were many "pushers" who hit tennis balls flat with no spin at all.

Thanks! Another question: How much should my fingers wrap around the grip? Should all my fingers be fully extended around the grip with no wiggle room?
