The Rogers Cup Masters Prediction League (Eighth in Series)...!!

We are in @ for the 8th in the series, this being the 2009 Rogers Cup Masters Prediction League

CHANGE of Points Scoring Rules(MUST READ)
FOR EVERY MATCH you predict the winner and the score they win by in sets. Predict the correct winner but the wrong score in sets, you'll now get THREE POINTS. However, if you also nail the score line in sets, (ie, Nadal beats Murray 2 set to love) you’ll get FIVE POINTS.

Each predictor is also able to pick a winner and runner up of the respective tournament (they have approximately up to a day before the FIRST ROUND MATCH in which to do this) Come the conclusion of the tournament – ten points will be given to each predictor that predicts BOTH the correct winner and runner up and five points for the one or the other.

If you grasp a sudden urge to change one or more predictions that you may already have posted, please make a new post, so I am aware of the time it was posted and can validate that the prediction was made before the respective match / matches. (Editing posts makes matters complicated)

Player Retirement Rules
1. If there is a walkover, the match is void.
2. If there is a retirement, and you picked the person that doesn't retire, you get 3 points. No matter the sets or score.
3. If there is a lucky loser situation and you picked the person the lucky loser replaced and the lucky loser wins, you get points accordingly (3 for correct winner, 5 for correct winner and set). If you picked the opponent and they win, you get points accordingly.

To the two newbies whom seem to be disintoriated with the cancellation of the Indianapolis prediction league lol, I am self employed and not getting paid for running these leagues, myself and another person have ran a previous 7 leagues in this fashion with no delays or cancellations, i believe cancelling one which no player had no quarms about cancelling did no harm @ all.

Yes, i came up with an intriguingly, creative and fun idea in which i sacrifice quite a bit of my active lifestyle managing. (I'd hardly call that lazy, would you?)

You've missed several outstanding tournament prediction league's in which there have been monstrous battles and light hearted banter between opponents over the last 6 months, if you had been a part of them or even witnessed how they'd been played out, you’d have realised going through with the poor turnout for a tournament that didn't have a single player in the top 20 competing inside it would've taken away a lot of soul from the league as an entirety.

One its not irrelevant, two, with that aside, i will not conduct a league that has as little as 5 participants competing in it, (whom aern't even keen on competing) that is what you class as "irrelvant". If you are too thick or ignorant to understand my legitimate reasons for cancelling then thats your issue not mine.

What are we fighting about? Not doing Indy? I see both sides - OJ was interested in making the picks, but there were several others who had zero interest. So TM made his decision. You may disagree (which I did at the time) but so what? Get over it and move on.

The Indy game's over and done w/ so just let it be and hope for the best for our Canada game.

And TM, you were a bit harsh, but OJ you were wrong as well for objecting to the cancellation of Indy 2 weeks after the fact. Was something said at the time? I can't remember.

And it wasn't halfway through the tournament, it was still day 1 of play if I remember correctly, so it's not like someone had a win taken from them or anything. Big deal out of a little deal. Mountain of a molehill.

B/c I like making picks and it's a fun little game, so I was disappointed that the game was cancelled. But I also understood that there wasn't as much interest as there usually is during the GS and MS events, so I saw TM's side of things. It's no big deal. It's a fun little game. I was upset-for about 3 minutes, then I got over it. I assumed everyone else had, since no one objected at the time. But I guess not.

Like I said, no changing the past, lets move on and have fun w/ this one. No one's gonna want to play w/ all this bickering going on. This is what ruined the FO prediction league, let's not ruin the Canada prediction league. Can we all just agree to disagree and move on? Is that so hard? It's just a game, after all.

Ok playing with 5 people is just stupid. Competition value goes down and if we had played that tournament the value of Masters and GS would go down aswell if we are given points away in a tournament with very little competition/players. In all honesty TM saved the game from becoming a farce.

I have no idea what you are on about in your first para... It sounds like you are trying to start something. Again.

Saying But if you start something, finish it... alright? is pretty rude and aggressive you could of put it "Next time if you start a tournament can we please finish it?" but instead you add the "alright" bit which is like you are in charge of him and as I said before is just simply rude.

OJ the simple fact is we have never had 5 people. Try to atleast learn the facts before trying to get into debates on things you have no knowledge of. Ironic considering you told TM to educate himself.

Enforcing tons of rules would turn this forum into a somewhat nanny state (google it if you don't follow). There are numerous rules which are not there that are known, such as the percentage rule (look in previous threads for that). If we had 5 players at a GS or Masters and they all wanted to be playing then I am sure we would do so.

Did you google nanny state because your last sentance says you don't understand what I meant. Also if every rule were to be put up then we would have an essay and no-one would read it. Including important rules is all that is needed not minor "Terms and Conditions".
