Semi-Pro
IMO he is the biggest overachiever since Hewitt in the 2000s, for similar reasons. Personalty wise, he is on Fritz-Sinner level
Let's hope he can carry this form into Shangai. Shelton could be a tough test if both make it to the fourth round. He needs points this year to not fall down the rankings next year as defending Madrid will be almost impossible and making the semifinals at Madrid should be the likely best case scenario.Nice tennis as of late from Ruud.
Perhaps the new frame is an improvement? Thoughts?
Every time I give up on him, he seems to come back...Nice tennis as of late from Ruud.

VamosHaha, akkurat sånn!
Vamos, Casper!
Vamos!
Was only watching the scoreline vs Carlo, but seemed he had his chances there? Blew several BPs. Would be a huge win.
Like i said I hope he will carry his form into Shangai. He has a tough draw while FAA has a favourable draw to possibly make the finals so him making the Atp finals will be hard. Anyway Ruud had break-points in the first game of the second set and in the third set when he was leading by 2 to 1. I just hope he will win some matches to gain enough points by the end of the season so that he won't fall out of the top 20 when his Madrid points come off.Vamos!

Yes, it would help his ranking as defending his Madrid title is going to be near impossible.I couldn't watch, either. But I saw the highlights and it looked like a competitive match of good quality.
Would be fun if Casper could produce something at AO.

Ruud was good, but Alcaraz looked a bit unconsentraited...I couldn't watch, either. But I saw the highlights and it looked like a competitive match of good quality.

In may I think. When will his Madrid points fall off?
He fired 42 winners, he could not have been that off.Ruud was good, but Alcaraz looked a bit unconsentraited...
Yes, but what about unforced errors? He fired 42 winners, he could not have been that off.
I hope he can keep it up. I believe that because Ruud is not always a flashy player or aggressive, his talent level is underestimated by his detractors. He is the only player alongside Alcaraz 6 feet tall or shorter to win a big title in the 2020s which imo points to him being more talented than given credit for. This match final today was just amazing from Ruud. The best match i have seen him play ever! And i have seen many.
Yes, but today was different, lots of angles, precision and even volleys, just amazing play, i wonder if the new smaller headsize racket is contributing to it.. i think so..I hope he can keep it up. His current level is very poor, I am seriously worried about him dropping out of the top 50 or even out of the top 100 this year.On an extraordinary day of little tennis, Casper Ruud was one of three players to retire from his quarter-final match in Basel on Saturday, the other two being Felix Auger Aliassime and Denis Shapovalov. The Norwegian saved seven break points in the first set against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina before the Spaniard won the tiebreak that ended the set by 7 points to 1. Ruud then retired, seemingly due to an ankle problem. However, the Norwegian has entered next week's Masters Series 1000 tournament in Paris, where he is the no. 8 seed and would face the no. 1 seed, Carlos Alcaraz, if both players were to reach that stage. It is a tough draw for the Norwegian, who is still in with a chance of qualifying for the ATP Finals in Turin in two weeks' time.
Fokina and Bublik at some point looked finished and they bounced back posting their career best results. Ruud obviously won't be able to post his career best results due to Sinner and Alcaraz but hopefully he will able to make a comeback. This might be the worst year of his career. His current level is very poor, I am seriously worried about him dropping out of the top 50 or even out of the top 100 this year.
