fantasy final scores

Not bloody likely, but it would be funny.

Oz - Chris Guccione over Federer 0-6, 6-7, 7-6, 7-5, 19-17
Federer squanders 27 matchpoints -- all with between the leggers.
Nadal and Hewitt lose in the semis, and insist upon playing a third place match, just like in juniors.

Roland - Guga over Federer 2-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4
Losing semifinalists: Nadal and Gasquet
Sidenote: Puerta wins his appeal, is permitted to play, plays well enough to get to the quarters and lose in 5 to Nadal. The next day it is revealed that Puerta tested positive for a banned substance prescribed for acute paranoia. He suffers a lifetime ban from the sport. At the sentencing, the judge holds Puerta's stack of blacked-out AeroProDrive and paraphrases from Spinal Tap, "a tennis racquet? Nope. Don't touch it. Don't even look at it. No! I said don't even look at it."

Wimbledon - Andy Murray over Henman 0-6, 7-6, 6-2, 6-2 on public Monday with Centre Court looking like a scene from Braveheart.
Losing semifinalists: Federer and Dent

US Open - Blake over Roddick 6-3, 6-3, 6-7, 6-7, 7-6
Losing semifinalists: Federer and Dre. Donald Young becomes the first player to ever reach the quarters of four events: boys' singles, men's singles, men's dubs (w/Johnny Mac) and mixed dubs (w/Hingis). He collapses after the tournament and gets on the two massages-per-day plan for the rest of the year. Until January 2007, tournament directors do not know what to do with their wildcards.

very bold indeed, but here's my forecast for 2006:

AO- hewitt d. roddick 3-6 5-7 7-6 6-4 10-8
FO- nadal d federer 6-4 3-6 4-6 6-1 6-4
W- roddick d hewitt 7-6 4-6 7-5 7-6
USO- agassi d federer 4-6 6-2 6-7 7-6 7-6

federer loses to nalbandian in the AO quarters

hewitt loses to nadal in a 5 hr marathon semifinal

federer loses to ancic in rd of 16

roddick pushes federer to 4 sets in one semifinal while agassi defeats nadal in straights in the other

The boldest thing about those predictions is that Federer didn't win one slam.

I have consulted with my 111 year old, chicken-bone necklace wearin', gumbo eatin', N'Awleens voodoo psychic lady, and here are the predictions:

AO: Federer unmercifully squashes Nalbandian 6-1, 6-2, 6-0.

FO: Davydenko defeats Gaudio 6-4, 4-6, 7-5, 1-6, 10-8. They each play out of their minds for 2 weeks and cap the tourney with a classic.

Wim: Roddick defeats Federer 1-6, 6-4, 7-5, 7-6. Everything works this day for A-Rod.

US: Federer unmercifully squashes Roddick 6-1, 6-2, 6-0.

wimby: mauresmo def. sharapova 7-5 1-6 6-2

Funny you should say that. I kind of dug 'em, but I was thinking the same thing.....and admiring prestige18 for having zero fear of the limb! Then if you think about the 'parity' on the women's tour....hmmm....
