Okay so I was playing this guy that I can really thrash up, the way he played was that he had a bad serve, he had groundstrokes that he could hit hard and relatively deep (for an intermediate player) -So I was thrashing him 5-0, then his dad starts having a conversation with him in spanish, and he responds in spanish. I'm like okay..... Because I don't like to get into things when I'm up 5-0. Then I win the next game for a 6-0 set. What happens after that is that he wins the first game of the second set, because he starts pushing the ball. I lost focus and I was burned out. Then he kept pushing and pushing, and pushing. And I was hitting a lot of good shots, but I just wasn't thinking at all. Then it came into my mind that we were going to have to play a third set tiebreaker (because there are a lot of people at this tournament, it was a 256draw) I was so mad, that I just crumbled to pieces, I really should have switched gears earlier. I swear to you, I could of beaten that guy six zero six zero, all day long. But I just go so frusterated, and tiered, because I had to wake up at 4 am to get there. I thought I'd just vent this out, and any advice would be helpful. I always beat people who are hitting the ball deep and hard, because I get rythym that way, but I really need to learn to work the 1's that don't do that harder. For example: use more spin and just cram up their backhand side, and get them off the court. I could of done that but noooooo, I had to be stupid. I hate when I do that. Well this is my first big tournament of 09, bad start, but it makes me fired up, and actually go out there and win, and focus on developing my net game, so I can come in there and ram them with my volleys. That should help a lot. I'm just fired up, and waiting for the next tournament to approach, I know I will do a lot better. And I'll just leave this as that's that, and get ready for the next one. One factor that I was so lathargic is that: I played for three hours the day before, I should of kept to my original plan and just pollished my strokes, and save my energy, because I would of had to play 3 matches yesterday if i kept winning.
