The state of tennis as the 2025 AO wraps up

Well with only the men’s singles and women’s doubles left I thought I would start a discussion about what you thought about the AO and any observations you may have of the tournament, the current state of tennis and what we can do to improve tennis moving forward.
I have to be careful what I say but one comment that stood out to me was when Ben Shelton made the point that the tennis community ( he was directing his comments about the reporters ) should be trying to foster a positive image and message about tennis and I agree with him about this point.
I can’t say that I enjoyed the behaviour of some members of the crowd and I think it’s kind of like an extension of the poor behaviour exhibited on social media such as FB comments and a few legacy media incidents as well. To me it felt a bit weird and I thought the event started to wobble. Luckily I think the woman’s singles final tonight and presentation after the match kind of held it together - just.
Match if the tournament for me was Novak v Carlitos in the QF and since then the men’s SF’s haven’t lived up to that match:
The other thing of concern for the tour is the amount of injuries to young players currently at the beginning of the year and I think something needs to be done about it.
Moving forward I wouid like to see more effort made to promote the young players and continue the journey of the tour on the MSM as it unfolds on the calendar. Those who are converted know what’s coming up but many in the general public wouldn’t know what is coming up next.
I think the pathway in tennis from local beginner to pro needs to be more simplified and understood as well as adequately financed.
Anyway you may have a view on this or maybe share some of your own thoughts and reflections about the state of tennis.

Do anyone know why the mens doubles final was played a day before the women’s?
I don’t know why but what I can say is that these doubles finals last night at least felt really sad. You have a packed stadium, music, colour and presentation for the women’s singles final and then everybody vacates the stadium and it’s like deathly quiet and empty.
It’s like you got the grave yard shift at work and you are carrying out the trash after the party’s finished and everyone has gone home.
I know the year when Thanasi and Nick played together and won the doubles there was home grown interest and that Nick especially has a high profile personality, but most of the time the doubles specialists are not that well known.
What can we make of doubles on the pro tour, is it dead, do we need more of the high profile players to play or is doubles done in most instances except events like Davis Cup.

I just looked on youtube for highlights and saw this video. You're right. The stadium was empty.

Looks like the only fans were family and friends and maybe their traveling teams.
