Last win over Fed outside of RG was 2014

Djok similar time frame

He can’t beat those guys off Clay now.
 
Not to mention Andy Murray was one of top players whose level from 2011 until 2016 was surely higher then hewits roddicks or whatever
And every young guy had to deal with that.

There's no way people seriously believe that, right? Federer was challenging Nadal on clay back in 06-07. Fast forward to 2015 and he loses to the Seppis and Wawrinkas of the world, (compare that to 2004-08 where only 3 players ever beat him in Slams, combined 5 losses).

2015 Federer is the greatest 34-year-old the ATP has ever seen (maybe Ken Rosewall, but that's another debate). No doubt he'd have won several Slams without Djokovic (as he did in 2017-18 when the competition evaporated). But he simply doesn't hold up against 2004-09 Federer.

Because he figured out Nadal and Murray in the matchups doesn't mean he became a more dominant player overall. Those were the only 2 players he ever had a problem with in his prime. He wasn't busy losing to people like Seppi, Millman, Anderson, etc

Whole level of the tour improved, millman and Seppi could’ve beat 04-05 federer too as a one off.
Both Djokovic and federer said 2015 Fed was his best ever level.

Most of the players Federer lost to in 2014-19 were absent in in 2004-09.

Big4 were in both periods, that's why I think h2h vs them is interesting.

So? There were plenty of lower-tier players like them. Kohlschreiber, Simon, etc etc. Federer never lost to those types at Slams, because he didn't have to play an inconsistent, suicidal game to keep up with the tour.

Please, look at the numbers, many matches are played in those periods and stats are clear...
Federer was challenging Nadal on clay back in 06-07? It was 1 win of 6 matches...

It's the closest anyone came to challenging Nadal before Djokovic came along.
Had MP's in Rome final, bageled him in Hamburg once. Still a depressingly one-sided rivalry, but certainly better than anything since from Fed on clay.

I checked his score against all the players he met in both periods:

2004-09 --> 159-35 (81.96%)
2014-19 --> 118-26 (81.94%)

So an equal win percentage.
 
Fed has been playing awesome from all years except maybe 2013 and 2016 where he was subpar.
Just unlucky he ran into ATG Djokovic (mainly) and Nadal.
 
Op is right, Fed has been consistently improving his game over the years.
Just Djokovic and Nadal are a litte better in slams.
