The third round at this RG will only feature two seed-vs-seed matchups (out of possible 16), both involving 'servebots'

None in the upper half, regardless of how the yet unfinished matches go. Two in the lower half: Medvedev vs Opelka and Tsitsipas vs Isner. What it tells us?

RG should implement the old Wimbledon formula? Or it's red hard court/Djokovic Open confirmed?

I'd only consider the Americans among those four to be servebots, for what it's worth.

This era (2018-2021) is incredibly weak. No consistency among the “top” players aside from Djokodal.

I'm not surprised. Servepots tend to do well at RG:
- they're slow of foot, so clay fits them better
- they're tall, so high bounce is no problem for them
- they don't have to bend their knees as much

Pliskova did reach the sf a few years ago

Servebot is one narrative

another narrative is that seeding is really messed up and I cannot wait for 2022 to rectify this. The likes of Monfils, Goffin, Dimitrov, and Federer being top 16 seeds is pretty embarrassing. Form of players doesn’t match seeding in many places.

Of the 16 guys left in the bottom half, 4 are Americans (Giron, Opelka, Johnson, Isner). They're all slow afoot, so clay is a boon to them! Probably one will advance, Opelka!

The top seeds largely held up their end of the bargain. Ten of the top-16 seeds made it to R3, which I'd guess is a pretty standard number on the men's side. It's seeds 17-32 that under-performed this time around.

Which strengthens the argument that maybe there should only be 16 seeds like in the past.
