The thought of a Nadal vs. Federer USO Final is overwhelmingly exciting!

Imagine. Just imagine for one second of this possibility. How huge would it be if these two were to meet in the Final? We've seen countless "Fedal" FO Finals but we've yet to experience this on Roger's best surface, and inversely, Nadal's worst.

Perhaps Federer is secretly wishing for this matchup. He knows he can beat him here. And he knows he can show the world that had Nadal made more finals in previous years here, the Fed/Nadal rivalry would be much more balanced out in terms of their Grand Slam H2H record.

I'm clearly a Roger Federer fan. BUT I must say: I'm rooting for Nadal in every single match. I want to see him win and keeping winning. Until the Final that is. Federer being the more likely to hold up his end up the deal (although these days far from a given he'll show up), Nadal's chances are better than ever. Standing ominously in his way is of course Murray. So in keeping true to my hope of seeing "Fedal" in the Final, I'm likewise rooting for Murray to lose during every match.

If Roger and Rafa do meet on Sunday, I will be so hyped and amped up it will be crazy. Me and my buddies will have to do some pre-game buildup event to psyche ourselves out even more if that's even possible.

So, anyone tremendously excited about the prospects of an epic Rog/Rafa showdown in New York?

You should cool your expectations cause Rafa has Murray in his half and he is very tough to take out on a fast court.

I never said I have high expectations or anything like that. I'm excited in anticipation for such an epic event. Possibly one of the last chances to add another big piece of tennis history regarding their never-to-be-forgotten rivalry.

Expectation and anticipation/excitement are not the same thing.

Regardless, I did say Murray is a big challenge and that's why I hope Murray loses to clear the path for Nads.

The thought of a Nadal-Federer final almost makes me cheer for Murray in a potential semifinal against Rafa.

There is one man that will crush the hopes of a Fed-Nadal final -- Andy Murray. I think Murray will win it this year, he is looking by far the best player in this tournament.

If it happened, it would definitely secure its place as one of the best rivalries of all time in any sport. For two players to meet in the final of every major event is amazing.

Not sure if I can use words "excitement" and "Nadal" in the same sentence even though Federer is also involved. I'd prefer no blockbusters on Sunday. I'd prefer Nadal flying to Mallorca at latest in the mid of the week. He must be historied as slow courts only specialist who had never been close to winning the US Open. As soon as this guaranteed I'll think about getting excited.

and I bet you thought he was looking by far the best player at USO 2008...

and AO 2010....

and probably a few other slams too.

I would have thought most Federer fans would be far more likely to want a Federer-Murray final than Federer-Nadal.

If Federer wins then *******s will just say "hey, this is the same as the French Open", just that Fed comes out on top here. If Nadal wins then he'll have beaten Roger in the final at every GS event. It just seems like Federer has nothing to gain and everything to lose from this match.

Yes being a Fed fan, I would love to see Fed do to Nadal what Nadal did to Fed in 2008 FO!

But could you stand him potentially losing?

The reason I ask this is that I remember when Liverpool and Chelsea were playing in a Champions League semi final (the winner would go on to play Manchester United in the final). Now Liverpool and Manchester United have a pretty bitter rivalry, so much so that several Liverpool fans I knew said they would rather go out in the semi finals than get to the final and lose to Manchester United. Given the Fed-Nadal rivalry on these board I thought the situation may be similar here.

Even though a potential loss would be extremely terrible (esp since he has managed to lose finals to Nadal in ALL other majors!), I would still like to see them in the finals.

I think a lot of people here too much overestimate Murray's chances and underestimate Nadal's in this semifinal(if this happens)! For mi is a 50:50!So Rafa's chances are not that bad!I've never seen a match between these two that is not close and tight(except 2009 Indian Wells) and I suppose if this semifinal happens we are going to watch such a match again!
As for potential clash Rafa-Roger in the final is too early to talk but I guess many people here secretly hope to see the two great again in final!!At USO!!!
Will be exciting!

Its not 50-50. Murray is 2-1 against Rafa in HC slams, and Rafas win came in 07. Murray also beat Nadal in their last matchup....

Dont get me wrong Rafa has a chance, but its more 60-40 in favour of Murray

Rafa won't get to the finals. Murray will.

LOL. So much for that.

LOL ^10. Oh really? There goes that.

With Murray looking like he's about to go down, I think we've got a great chance for a Nadal/Federer final now. And boy can I not wait for it.
