The Time Has Come To Raise The Net By Two Or Three Centimeters

It is clear that both the ATP and WTA is in desperation mode as dozens of pros leave the sport for New Wave racquetsports in Pickleball, Padel, and Beach Tennis.
Not only that but many Gen Zed players simply hit the ball and it looks too easy for them and sports fans don't like that.

When John Wingford invented Sphairistike and put it in writing, he was clear: you should adjust the height of the net based on the quality of players.

I humbly suggest that we immediately enforce a higher net on the professional tour to improve the quality of the sport, demanding greater skill from all players and creating an improved viewer experience.
We have a historical precedent for this too. A joiner told me Wimbledon asked him to produce longer net posts in the 60s. Back then you could keep a secret, but it's true; there was a clandestine raising of the net which only the nomenclatura truly know about.

This is an appealing topic that may have to look at the flat vs top spin hitting players.

Does the top spin indicate a higher level skill than the one of a flat hitting player?

Seems that the answer is yes as the audiences will be satisfied. But wait a minute! The surfaces of courts are getting slower too. So, your submissive notion with the instant mandate will push the players to longer rallies with the fans inside venues sipping on their drinks for longer times as well. You are a true marketer.

Is this Toni Nadal? He used to come out every month with ridiculous requests like raise the net by a couple of feet, remove hard courts and grass from the tour, give 2 minutes between points and unlimited MTOs and bathroom breaks, etc. Of all his inane wishes, they actually ended up allowing coaching.

Raising the net will just make tennis more boring by incentivising percentage play further. Agree that tennis needs more excitement and will support any change that will speed the game up.
