Fun stuff. Number 9 o_O makes throatgate look like a stroll in the park lol. At #6 you have Rafa coming from 2 sets down to win his only indoor title (so hard to find highlights of this match) his movement and stamina are just sickening! Even I forget how freakishly fast and easy he could cover the court back then. At #3 you have strong-era Nalbandian GOATING. (The court speed is so pleasing back then). I think everyone knows what #1 is but still to this day I wanna know who that epic kid is? :D

That 09 clay season trilogy was epic af. It was like Novak was getting closer and closer. The way I yelled and screamed when Rafa hit that inside-in FH to save match point! Djokovic was literally speechless in the press conference, it was crazy.
Imagine my frustration on the other side of that during that trilogy. No wonder Djokovic was in tears as he left the court at the end of that last match.

Rafa had some niggling physical issues in the 05 Madrid final, which is kinda insane. Ljubo not being the most clutch of players helped a bit though ;)

Whoa they finally added highlights last year, didn't know, thanks! :)

It's crazy too bc he did everything he should have on those match points. Stepped into the court, was aggressive, hit angles, and Nadal really wasn't playing "great" in those rallies and somehow still saved them, it's insane.

Exactly, it wasn't like Djokovic was playing badly, Nadal was just pulling out clutch play from the top drawer every single time. I was thinking to myself what more can Djokovic possibly do, this is nuts, and we got that for three straight matches...

That Madrid 2009 F casts real doubt in my mind about prime Djokovic vs early Nadal on clay.

Nadal was very very passive and loopy in Madrid, and Djokovic was outright whacking the balls at times, yet couldn't win.
