With each passing year I seem to see more and more at the majors, and less and less out of them. I got it down to 20, and losing half of them seems too tough, so I'll just go with this...

Swiatek vs. Sabalenka; Madrid

Swiatek vs. Osaka; Roland Garros
Goffin vs. Mpetshi Perricard; Roland Garros

The official ATP website has launched a survey for fans: what were the best matches in the men's Slams in 2024? The choice is between 5 great matches, tight battles concluded in five sets. These are the selected meetings:

1st place – Roland Garros: 3rd round, Novak Djokovic b. Lorenzo Musetti 7-5, 6-7(6), 2-6, 6-3, 6-0

2nd place – Australian Open: Final, Jannik Sinner b. Daniil Medvedev, 3-6, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-3

3rd place – Roland Garros Semifinal, Carlos Alcaraz b. Jannik Sinner, 2-6, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3

4th place – Wimbledon: 3rd round, Carlos Alcaraz b. Frances Tiafoe, 5-7, 6-2, 4-6, 7-6(2), 6-2

5th place – US Open: 3rd round, Frances Tiafoe b. Ben Shelton, 4-6, 7-5, 6-7(5), 6-4, 6-3

The trend of the poll currently overturns the first position: for fans, in fact, Sinner's comeback over Medvedev in Melbourne is the best match (with 35% of the votes), followed by Novak's victory over Lorenzo in Paris (30%) , with the Roland Garros semi-final between Jannik and Carlos in third place (25%). The other two matches were clearly separated, with only 10% of the votes adding the two matches.

These were all long, hard-fought matches, but unfortunately all of them had either routine or easy final sets. A truly memorable epic has to go down to the wire, making it uncertain who will prevail until the very end. In that respect, Fritz d. Zverev at the ATP Finals was more exciting, even though not as grueling.

I see Atps best grand slam matches and they always have 1 or 2 big names in that. Anyway their matches are

5. Shelton Tiafoe USO
4. Alcaraz Tiafoe W
3. Alcaraz Sinner FO
4. Sinner Medvedev AO
1.Djokovic Musseti FO

And their atptour best matches are
5. Zverev vs hurkatz united cup
4. Zverev vs sinner cincinnati
3. Sinner vs tsitpitas monte carlo
2. Fils vs zverev hamburg
1. Alacarz vs sinner Beijing

The final in Melbourne between Sinner and Medvedev was perhaps enthralling in terms of its performance, but in terms of the quality of the tennis, in my opinion nothing memorable.
Medvedev performed at great levels for the first set and a half, then began to decline.
On the other hand, overall in the match Sinner played at a good level but nothing exceptional.
There were also few prolonged exchanges compared to matchup habits.

If you really want to watch a memorable match between these 2 players, go and review the extended highlights of the Vienna 2023 final.
Brutal match to say the least.

The ATP has published its ranking of the five most spectacular matches of 2024, excluding the Grand Slam tournaments. A selection that highlights the very high level of men's tennis throughout the season.
This ranking confirms that 2024 was a year full of spectacular tennis, with Sinner starring in three of the five selected matches, followed by Zverev present in three matches, demonstrating their impact on the tennis season.

1. ATP 500 Beijing – Final
Alcaraz b. Sinner: 6-7(6), 6-4, 7-6(3)
Yet another chapter in the rivalry between the two young phenomena turned out to be the match of the year. A battle lasting over three hours which saw the Spaniard prevail in a heart-pounding finale.

2. Masters 1000 Cincinnati – Semifinal
Sinner b. Zverev: 7-6(9), 5-7, 7-6(4)
A memorable semi-final with two tie-breaks and an extraordinary level of play, where the Italian once again demonstrated his mental growth in decisive moments.

3. Masters 1000 Monte-Carlo – Semifinal
Tsitsipas b. Sinner: 6-4, 3-6, 6-4
On the Monegasque red clay, the Greek found his best tennis by overcoming Sinner in a match characterized by spectacular exchanges and continuous reversals in front.

4. ATP 500 Hamburg – Final
Fils b. Zverev: 6-3, 3-6, 7-6(1)
The young Frenchman's consecration came by beating the home favorite in a final that kept the audience in suspense until the last point.

5. United Cup – Final
Zverev b. Hurkacz: 6-7(3), 7-6(6), 6-4
The German led Germany to victory in the United Cup with a performance of character, overcoming a set deficit in an emotional final.

Australian Open... Medvedev/Rusuvuori was incredible... More memorable than Medvedev vs Sinner or Zverev for me. I also liked Djokovic/Fritz and Cazaux/Rune.
French Open... I liked Zverev/Rune much better than Rune/Cobolli and Zverev/Griekspoor. Sinner/Alcaraz was horrid in terms of level imo. Best match was clearly Djokovic/Musetti for me.
Wimbledon... Alcaraz/Tiafoe by far. But Alcaraz/Humbert and Sinner/Berrettini were excellent too.
No good match in USO. Popyrin beating Djokovic was pretty epic... didn't like the result but the match was great. I kinda stoped watching the tournament once he lost. But I liked Fritz/Zverev. And hororable mention to Evans/Khachanov although it was just an opening round.

Other great matches I liked and you didn't mention...
Fils/Zverev Hamburg
Fils/Humbert Tokyo
Fils/Shelton Tokyo
Djokovic/Michelsen Shanghaï
Zverev/Hurkacz United Cup
Zverev/Tabilo Rome
Humbert/Alcaraz Paris
DeMinaur/Tsitsipas Acapulco
Cerundolo/Musetti Umag
Draper/Berrettini Stuttgart
Bublik/Rublev Dubaï (for the drama)
Nadal/Navone Bastad (for the drama)

I think Sinner/Rublev in Cincinnati may have been a huge turning point for Sinner. He lost to Rublev in QF of Toronto. He was down 4-6 3-4 15-40 against Rublev in QF of Cincinnati. Not sure he wins the USO/Shanghaï/Turin if he loses twice in a row to Rublev on his favorite surface. Maybe not one of the best matches but surely one of the most important of the 2nd half of the season.

WTA...
1) Siwatek/Sabalenka Madrid
2) Swiatek/Osaka RG
3) Krejcova/Rybakina Wimbledon
4) Gauff/Zheng Riyad
5) Navarro/Gauff USO
6) Rybakina/Swiatek Stuttgart
7) Sabalenka/Rybakina Madrid
8) Pegula/Kalinskaya Berlin
9) Pegula/Fernandez Cincinnati
10) Zheng/Kerber Olympics
