Very true! I remember posting that stat about Brighton not winning a game at the Amex for 3 months.. until we turned up on Saturday :-D

As you pointed out, it’s been a recurring theme over the last 3 years.

Another theme has been how bad we’ve are in general. There have been little runs here and there under Tuchel, Poch and Maresca, but generally we’ve been bottom half of the table for most of it.

Here’s the form table for the last 8. So from around the start of December.

Yeah, it's not exactly Gary Lineker, but still, in this day and age, yellows handed out like the proverbial. Might be Roony by talent and name, but not nature. Clean as can be. That centre back pairing of Absul-Nasir Oluwatosin Adarabioyo/Benoit Ntambue Badiashile Mukinayi is both solid as a rock, and wins you Scrabble in the first round.

The word today was how Hojlund is not a Ruben guy, he hasn't given up on him, he won't be banished or anything, but they said Juventus are interested. Of course, they were interested in Zirkzee as well.

Can only hope that Dorgu is the first to change the direction of the proverbial tide or whatever. I think De Ligt has been decent/good more often than not, but in terms of making a real impact and getting us going. Yeah, it's a big task, for such a youngster in with this current bunch of headers. haha I'll be nice and call them headers.

I’d have thought Hojlund would be perfect for Amorim.

From a stylistic point of view, anyway. He’s basically a rubbish Gyokeres.

Not great long term, but you’d think he would make the system work.

I know I'm a broken record with footy manager, but even in game world, you show signs of your true life self. Chelsea came in for Davide Bartesaghi and I had to sell for a measly 10m.. He wanted to go, so I thought screw it, if he doesn't want to be here. I'm happy this happened because Theo had already left, he went to City for a measly 40 million. Yes, it's just all measly. I'd usually go for Miguel Gutierrez at the start of the game if I needed a left back, but since we were already into January, he'd moved back to Real Madrid so no chance to get him.

That made me find Adrien Truffert and my goodness, he is the man at left fullback, gets forward whenever possible trait activated. He can cross, dribble , tackle, fast. All the good stuff. Would have never found him if you guys didn't come in. I'll have to check on Bartesaghi next time I put the game on. Let us find out if he actually gets on for Chelsea.

Interesting! I’ve heard of Bartesaghi, but never seen him. He looks very good on paper. With Felix looking like he will stay in Milan, I’m sure they’ll try and do a swap. Most people are probably thinking Leao (lol), but it will probably be a kid. Maybe it’ll be him and we get to see it in real life! Something tells me the FM move would be more successful than the real life one :-D

On Theo, one of the craziest January stories was Como coming in with a big bid for him. That would’ve been fun if Milan accepted.

Yeah, I can remember getting hyped when Hojlund was coming off a rare good game and he was talking about being in a similar system at Atalanta. I guess the main difference is when he was in that system, it wasn't this newly created technology that it seems to be at United and Atalanta had their bleep together.

I guess the optimist in me hopes we can now create a chance or 2, just to get him on the scoresheet. Definitely worried about his hold up play, positioning, everything really. If I didn't know any better, I'd be expecting him to do the bullying and not get wrestled to the ground all the time.

I think there’s a chance he can be good, but it’ll probably take until his late 20’s. Especially with his development being stunted.

Which is fairly common. Guirassy, Giroud, Mateta and countless others. Some of them were still decent when they were younger, but it feels like these type of players peak later.

I can see Sesko being the same. Go to Arsenal, never really get it going, sell him to Fulham after 5 years of trying.. only for him to find consistency there when he’s 28 :-D

That’s why I’m pretty happy Delap is 90% happening. I don’t see him being a top 5 striker in the world, but I think he has a higher probability of being one of the better number 9’s in the PL for the next decade.

I heard a scout describe him as “Dzeko with pace and the attitude of Diego Costa”. Sign me up for some of that.

I have a friend from France who is a coach, worked at a few clubs in Ligue 2 and youth teams. He’s scouted and developed quite a few players who have gone on to have great careers. Mbeumo being one, he developed the CB Lens signed recently to replace Khusanov. Many others who have gone on to become internationals.

Basically the smartest man I know personally when it comes to football, and he absolutely loves David Moyes. Thinks he’s an incredible coach.

Having said that, he hates Pep and Maresca. But he really rates Howe, Dyche, Allardyce and spent his money going to see Luton v Millwall in a long ball, 80’s, Brexitball game a couple of weeks ago :-D

Safe to say he’s not a fan of woke football. But yes, the old methods are tried and tested. They work, even today. Glad to see Moyes still has a lot to offer the game.
