  1. No surprise. Disgusting head stamp from Mings but Ibra should have been aware of the retrospective bans in England. Now he will miss Middlesbrough and West Brom games as well as FA Cup clash with Chelsea. Can't really tell how harmful that is since there have been both very clinical and very wasteful moments from him this season.

Sevilla slip against Alaves. Likely a two horse race in Spain now until the end, and Barca are now on a good run. Damn they just won't go away.

The correct decision has been made, yeah.

I feel sorry in a way for Zlatan. There's no excuse for the elbow, but when referee's don't do their job in the first place, it's always likely that the players will take things into their own hands.

Apparently Conte running up and down the touchline, going crazy, means he has to take a shower before doing the interviews  mans crazy.

But yeah, great result tonight. He was making defensive changes after 60 minutes, as clinical a performance as it gets away from home.

Sounds like a bit of a double standard there. I know it's in response and anybody would be pissed off but you don't elbow someone in the head and you don't step on someone's head they are both ****ing disgraceful even if one has provocation like that (assuming it was intentional, easier to argue lack of intent for the head step but I think it was). Considering Suarez's bans for the biting someone on the shoulder, and however weird that is, nobody's going to die for a little nibble on the shoulder someone could die from having someone step on their head or being elbowed in the head. I know which I'd prefer to happen to me. Considering the uproar around here about that Shapopolov stuff that is nothing compared to either incident, in terms of risk (and obviously intent). Think they should both be much more than three games to be honest and Mings might be but this twisted logic with some of these bans is weird.

Would imagine you'll miss him, he is your star player. Middlesborough and West Brom probably not too much of an issue without him one would think, although West Brom are decent, Chelsea you'd probably have lost anyway but I'm sure he'd have improved your chances.

Pity about Sevilla, was hoping they'd do it, would've been a great story, play a pretty attractive style as well from what I've seen of them. Doesn't look an insurmountable lead though even assuming Madrid win their game in hand although difficult of course.

  6. It's not, I think both should have been punished. Maybe Mings more than Ibrahimovic but still got to keep your cool, especially in EPL. It's not just about the amount of pain. Biting is something characteristic for an animal and unfortunately Suarez has done it more than once. That one racial abuse and his general reputation with his diving and complaining has probably contributed to even harsher treatment, which might have denied him some individual honors in the recent years as well. Shame because he has cooled down now.

There is still Champions League for them, you never know what can happen. Their games with Real and Barca are usually competitive, so they can probably challenge every other team as well.

Not just about pain. but dangerousness and injury. If you asked any footballer, or frankly any person which they'd rather happen to them they would pick the shoulder bite. It's much weirder behaviour but it isn't worse. A boot to the head or an elbow to the head could kill someone, chances are that it won't of course, but it's certainly possible. Behaviour with the capacity to kill someone should definitely be treated harsher, unless it's like a punch in boxing or something when that is the environment that you are in, these things aren't a natural pat of the game (expect for Fellaini of course where would he be without his elbows?). - See that he's accepted it and got a three game ban. For comparison, Ben Thatcher got an 8 games for elbowing Pedro Mendes. Obviously he was quite seriously hurt from that one, but the potential is there with both, in spite of obviously Mings being a bigger guy than Pedro Mendes meaning serious harm is less likely.

Well you never know I suppose, pretty good European record in recent years after all and to my fairly unfamiliar with Spanish football eye it looks still open for them in the League too although the least likely one would imagine. What're the run ins like? Any of those to play each other?

  8. I don't know, biting is just so low. I think one guy from Tottenham got 5-6 games ban last season for poking Diego Costa in the eye. Not as harmful as elbowing and head stamping but very low. Those kind of behaviors just aren't acceptable and are much rarer for us outside of football as well, even though less harmful in general.

A lot of those games left. Sevilla will travel to both Barcelona and Madrid, and El Clasico is in Madrid. All of these games are scheduled in April.

It's time Wenger went and Arsenal accept they will possibly go through a painful period before they land the 'right' manager, see Man U with Moyes->Van Gaal -> Mourihno who looks to be getting things right. If Arsenal are fortunate they may get the 'right' one on their first post-Wenger appointment. He's not adding new ideas to the team set up and being torn apart twice by a quality team is a sign of a softness which must be addressed.

It may be right that if he does go but things will probably get worse before they get better. Even if they do get the right man straight away. Take a long time to change a club set up for Wenger's way of working from top to bottom. Not to mention the very real chance of losing Sanchez and Ozil for cut price deals, be pretty hard to replace them sufficiently.

Would give them a better chance than I would've given Arsenal. Given some of the players they have, they have the capacity to smash any team 4 or 5 nil on a really good day. But do I believe they will? No, wouldn't think many are expecting them to go through, I would give them a very slim chance but not impossible.

Got to write history, nobody came back from 4-0 down. They are facing a strong side so a miracle won't be happening.

Why should Wenger go? He's proved he's consistent.

He lost 5-1 in both legs, if that doesn't prove it I don't know what will ;)

Apart from weaker sides, Barcelona have also beaten teams like Real Madrid, Bayern, Milan, Man City with a 4 goal margin in the past few years. If anyone can turn this around, they can. Chances are very small but I still believe. @Noleberic123 are you with me on this? ;)

Yeah very small chance, but possible would love to see it. Nothing beats an amazing comeback, and I have no love for PSG given their ridiculous oil money.

Oh yeah, I can definitely see Barcelona getting back in the match, although this Barca team isn't made of steel anymore so I don't think it is really possible.

Fingers crossed for PSG tonight, don't want Barca anywhere near a 6th European cup for obvious reasons. Or Munich for that matter.

Don't think Mings' stamp was intentional really, reckless yes and a three match ban would be more than fair all things considered. Besides, ive seen the replay and it's clear that ibrahimovic tries to stamp on Mings thigh just before he falls over, he had it coming. Be interesting to see United without him tho, seeing as Maureen has basically build the whole team to get the best out of him, still they shouldn't struggle against the likes of Boro and West Brom - after all theyve got the most expensive squad ever assembled, no? :D

Arsenal Fan Tv is absolutely brilliant yeah, imagine the reaction on there if Wenger signs a new contract. Wish United had something similar, would pay to watch it. :p

Sweet when you can leave Di Maria on the bench. Agree with the Steve McManaman assessment. Barca can score, but I can't see them keeping out PSG. 4-0 is just too much.

Looks like Di Maria isn't 100% fit, they wouldn't want to risk him, especially with such a margin.

Hope Messi has one of his best ever nights.

Who would have thought that Barca will score two scrappy goals. Turns out their defense is the more solid part, easier now to see them keeping a clean sheet than scoring another two.

Hope Messi plays better in the 2nd half.

Let me clarify my thoughts. If the club infrastructure is great then it should kept and built upon/tweaked by the next Arsenal manager. What I think needs changing is the way Arsenal play football, if they see themselves as one of the top league clubs in the world then the expectations are to win the top league titles (EPL, Champion leagues). In all this time Wenger's Arsenal hasn't had a sniff of a Champions League final. Despite being roundly praised for the season they went unbeaten in the EPL, during that season they were still exposed in the Champions League like they always have under Wenger's management. It's the failure to address this problem compounded by the results of the past few seasons which the Arsenal board must address sooner instead of later. Wenger can't manage indefinately so now is as good a time as any for a new and fresh start. I get that financially Wenger has been a success 'every' season with CL qualification but if the club's expectations are more than fincancial then a change of manager is needed.
